Founders Day (2023)
For a slasher, it's pretty good!
Not a big fan of slasher films but this one was pretty good. Lots of twists and turns and some really great camera work. Thought there was some really solid fire at parts and there was a montage about two thirds in that I really enjoyed. Loved Adam Weppler and Catherine Curtain in it. But then again, I pretty much love them in anything they do. I certainly hope to see more cool stuff coming from Mainframe in the coming years. I dug this one. Went with a bunch of friends to see this at the AMC theater on Norwalk and we all really had a good time while we were there. Would definitely watch it again.
Monk3ys (2011)
Jaw dropping and incredible
Wonderful film! My jaw dropped at one point and didn't close until the credits. VERY well done film! The camera work is really well done. They incorporated the use of multiple types of cameras flawlessly. Acting wise, this group was top-notch. I especially loved the three main characters. The Scottsman was such a "real" character to me. I believed all of their performances but his stuck out the most in my mind. The acting was spectacular. I loved seeing this film on the big screen. I still can't believe how it ended. I am now a fan of this film production company. Can't wait to see what else they come up with! Disparado films knocked this one out of the park!
Game (2013)
GAME is a must-see!
I only gave this a nine instead of a ten only because I want to see it become a feature film. Otherwise it was flawless. I saw this last year at the Freak Show Film Festival in Florida and my husband and I had no idea what to expect because we'd only heard the name, we had no clue what the plot was. This film impressed me to no end! Not only did it pack a great punch story wise, but the special effects were that of a big budget studio film. They must have had some ridiculously talented people working their special effects.
The story, although short, leaves me giddy in anticipation for what this film crew will come out with next. I can only pray that they turn this into a feature film or decide to feature it in an anthology with other amazing horror shorts.
The Selling (2011)
An absolute GEM!
I saw this film with my husband at the Fright Night Film Festival in Louisville, Kentucky. After seeing the trailer, I thought we would be in for a cute/silly indie horror-comedy flick. I was not prepared for The Selling to be one of the funniest comedy feature films that I have seen in many years. This film is chock full of hilarious lines (that we found ourselves quoting the entire drive back to Florida)and comedic situations that had us roaring with laughter. Seeing Barry Bostwick as the priest attempting to exercise the house of its spirits was the cherry on top of this great film.
To put it simply, this film is a must-see. I am a filmmaker myself (my film, Loverboy, played in the same festival where I saw this) and I felt it an honor to play in the same festival as the Selling. I hope a major company picks this film up for distribution. I know if they do it will be a massive hit.
Great job to the cast and crew. 10 out of 10. Without a doubt!
