Harsh Times (2005)
High expectations.... unfortunately nothing more
Harsh time looked really good on the paper... reading the plot seemed an interesting story.
Unfortunately the acting really disappointed me... The director probably wanted to show some specific contrast depicting the state of mind of the ex-army soldier so determined then and nowadays so much wasting his life and recreate an atmosphere but unfortunately this is not conveyed in the audience at all. The acting is really flat, there is no psychological introspection of the characters and there are not many hints that allow the spectator to understand what the ex-ranger is going through... the situations presented are simple and much of a cliché. Mexico is depicted in such a naive way that I can see it more as a stereotype than a real-life-story movie scene.
Harsh times seems to have all the good features to be a pleasant movie but unfortunately doesn't hit the spot. If you want a similar setting and a similar story opt for Training Day
