Inside Job (2010)
Inside Job: exposing everything & everyone the 'economy' hid away from the public
I am pressed hard for words to describe the brilliance of this documentary, but I'll try. How about: A thunderous jolt of truth through the spine & putting the nails in the coffin?
and it only gets better...
the recurring theme throughout the documentary is the feedback mechanism between the idea of De-regulation and Greed, shown through intense interviews and resonating facts by the narrator: Matt Damon.
As an economist and mathematician, exposing people who I learned to view as today's 'elite' and the movers and shapers of our world struck cord with me. I read their publications, books, and studied their theories and applied it inside of the classroom...and out. Those movers and shakers are the 'Economists' or the 'Financial Engineers'.
The documentary shows the viewers and convincingly argues that the 'yuppies' and the wall street's guerillas are just the tip of the iceberg, because there's a of 'well educated' and 'knowledgable' stealth army marching behind them under the camouflage title of: Phd.
The viewer concludes that: Everyone has a price - even those that 'mentor' and 'teach' todays youth to be good model citizens of tomorrow.
The narrator concludes that the status quo still holds well after the meltdown has passed: No significant policy change by the Obama administration on Regulating financial markets, and therefore No cure for the Greed driven mechanism.
Zeitgeist: Moving Forward (2011)
Zeitgeist's path to the Truth
The third installment is as informative as the previous two, highlighting issues in human biology/pathology, the economy and economics, the venus project and many others. All the aforementioned topics are presented brilliantly with interviews from various academics and researchers. The flow of information is smooth and all problems and solutions are interlinked creatively with examples.
The documentary retains the same creative voice over images that's become a staple of the Zeitgeist series, and PJ's lines and definition's resonate deeply with the visuals.
The movie presents the problems and deduces the ultimate solutions, however it only touches briefly on the transition phase needed to reach the solution.
