The Best Man Holiday (2013)

Faith and Foul Language

I remember watching the best man years ago on TBS. Little did i know how much language was cut out of that for basic cable. I went to the theatre excited to see these amazing actors bring back the characters I grew to enjoy. I really enjoyed the acting again and I enjoyed the plot. However as a major point of the story is faith in God they all curse like sailors. If you took out all of the curse words the movie is still a powerful one that touches the heart. Is the foul language necessary? I would say no. I would have definitely given this movie a higher rating if it were cleaner. But I will say Morris Chestnut deserves an Oscar nomination for his performance. In the words of Gus from Psych " I'm a sympathetic crier." If you enjoy comedy, drama, and tearjerkers this is the one for you. If you don't enjoy foul language wait til the TBS special is on or buy one of those TV guardians. Hope this helps.

Bad language

I just saw this movie and would definitely give it a 10 for acting. I would give it a 10 for storyline. I would give it a 10 for directing. The only question I have is why does Hollywood or maybe Ben Affleck feel that in order to convey strong emotion you have to have a lot of foul language in the movie? It just doesn't make sense. Take all of the curse words out of this movie and I say the movie would be a 10. But because of the foul language I knock it down to a 6. There are a lot of great movies out there with no foul language and they make a lot of money. Remember the Titans is a classic example. Movies that were made in black and white that people still enjoy today had no foul language. Come on Hollywood leave the foul language out and attract a broader audience. Come on Ben Affleck make a PG-13 movie with no bad language. I would recommend this if the language was out.

Taken 2 (2012)

Good story horrible execution

I was super excited when I saw taken 2 coming out. Went to see it and was very disappointed. The action was shaky and anytime Liam Neeson threw a punch you never see the end result. The storyline and acting was fine but the action was just horrible. Im surprised the movie wasn't rated G for violence. I wish this movie could be redone. Maybe they will make taken 3 to redeem the 2nd. Hey its been done Oceans 12 was bad and Oceans 13 was good. Bourne Supremacy OK Bourne Ultimatum awesome. Rocky 5 bad Rocky 6 OK. Make a third to redeem the 2nd. If not only own the first taken and forget this was made. It may be making a lot of money right now but next weekend after word of mouth goes around it will not be number one again. Word of mouth did wonders for the first one, but word of mouth will ruin the 2nd one.

Unconditional (IV) (2012)

What a Movie should be!

Hollywood has got it in there heads that a movie should have sexually suggestive material, pervasive language, and blood and gore all throughout the film in order to make a good movie.

Well Unconditional proves that you don't have to have those elements in order to have a great movie. Unconditional pulls at your heart in many ways. It makes you laugh and cry several times. Michael Ealy and Lynn Collins both give great honest performances. All of the kids do too.

This is an inspiring film for all to see. Please go and watch this movie and buy it when it comes out. Show your kids these kinds of movies and let them know God loves them all the time.

Man on a Ledge (2012)

All Star cast in a Mediocre Movie

I enjoy movies where you have to figure out what's going on. This movie is way too easy to figure out. I figured out the end before the middle of the movie. Maybe if this movie was made in the 90's it would have been a box office blowout but audiences need to be challenged today. The cast did a great job with the material given to them except Sam Worthington needs to work on his accent a little bit. I never heard of Genesis Rodriguez before this movie but she was pretty good. I felt Anthony Mackie and Edward Burns talent was wasted. They both could have held meatier material. Also Kyra Sedgwick's role could have been played by anyone. Stick to the closer Kyra. But hey if you wanna know check it out for yourself. It's OK to watch if you have some time on your hands.

Battleship (2012)

Independence day in the water

I'm not sure why critics are busting this movie. It's the summer people. It's a summer blockbuster and thats what Peter Berg and the cast give us. Taylor Kitsch does is an actor and he does his job well. This movie has action and comedy. Yeah the title doesn't quite stick to what's going on but thats OK. I was surprised at Rihanna's acting skills as well. I thought she did a great job. Liam Neeson also plays the intimidating father well too. The only problem with this movie is the release date. It had to contend with the Avengers. Avengers has an all-star cast with superheroes. What movie could compete with that? Thats not Taylor, Rihanna, Neeson, or any of the actors faults. My recommendation is if you want to laugh and have some fun at the theatre go see this movie.
