Dragnet 1967: The Big Gambler (1968)
TV Info button shows misleading plot
This episode is about a GAMBLING addict who is driven to white collar theft. The info button on my TV shows the plot to be about a DRUG addict who is driven to white collar theft. Thought the rest of the plot info shown on my TV info button is correct - It is a bit misleading.
Jigsaw (1949)
Confusing storyline but worth watching for the uncredited cameos
Other reviews posted here have discussed this storyline in great detail. If you choose to watch this movie, you will say "Hey, wasn't that.....?" at least 4 times as some major stars from the period have ultra brief face time and speak only 1 liners. For me, the most confusing part of the storyline is when F. Tone tells his DA boss in the beginning of the movie that the bulldog reporter Charlie Riggs is about to become his brother-in-law. After Charlie dies , F. Tone is seen many times hugging and lip kissing Charlie's widow, Caroline Riggs, who by earlier script association is supposed to be his sister!!! Huh?? Also, some scenes are filmed way to dark, and combined with the age of the actual print, may be hard to see on your TV.
Hold That Ghost (1941)
Here are some continuity "goofs"
When Costello gets "locked out" of his suite and frantically tries to open the door, you can plainly see that he accidentally does open the door but he stays true to the script and plays like it is truly a locked door. When Abbott opens the door of Lou's suite to check Lou's claim getting locked out, the room number on the door says 9. As he steps into the suite and we see a different camera angle, the room number on the door says 13. At the very end, when the boys are standing around the cash register in their tuxedos, the dollar amount seen on the cash register changes between camera shots.
Swingers (1996)
The comedy team of Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughan makes for 1 funny flick!!
Who can't relate to attempting to making a comeback into the dating scene after getting a broken heart?? Jon Favreau is very funny as he gets his arm twisted by his best friend to re-enter the dating scene. His "cold feet" get him into some hot water. The phone message machine scene in a gut-buster!! Favreau's comic timing and his ability to "pause" and wait for the other shoe to drop, makes for some very funny moments. Bottom line: This flick "is money, baby, it's money!!"
Comanche blanco (1968)
a double dose of shatner - life can be cruel
captain kirk goes west. just when you thought it was safe because you broke your "tamborine man" album into little pieces, now you get to see shatner as twins. he is running around the old west trying to find his evil brother, an indian, to settle an old score. as always, big bill overplays BOTH roles and the result is a story that is so predictable, it will put you to sleep. bottom line: if you see this on the shelf of your local video store, run...no sprint...as fast as you can, in the other direction!!!
Hable con ella (2002)
a must see - controversial yet beautifully presented storyline
the bounderies between devotion, obsession and perversion just got a little more blurry. the controversial, yet powerfully presented storyline will make you walk away with a gamut of mixed emotions.
almodomar had me rooting for the antihero(benigno)whilst also having feelings of disgust for him.
see if you agree that dario grandinetti (marco) is a dead ringer for a young frank langella (from his 'diary of a mad housewife' days)
this was one of the best movies i have seen all year.
Wolfman (1979)
scary bad horrible
if you rent this movie, do it solely for a laugh, as it is one of theeee worst flicks i have ever seen. the acting is way below sub par. look for a story set in the civil war era, where you use a kerosine lamp at night but when colin goes into the toolshed, he turns on a lightbulb!!!! also look for the main actors to be dressed in period attire except the village mob who are all dressed in somewhat current fashions. (did they really have nylon windbreakers during the civil war??) smoking monkeys could have done a better job.....and what's with the doctor with his borscht belt accent????
