Annoying Empty Movie
21 December 2023
This is from the same guy who made Mr. Robot? An empty vessel of a movie. Not much happens...random events occur and the characters fumble around. What's going on? The internet goes out. A random ship crashes. Deer acting mysteriously. Random arabic fliers coming down from an airplane in the middle of nowhere. A boys teeth falls out. Like what??? And the movies give zero explanation for anything. At no point do they actively engage with what's going on. They are just wondering like we are. And the movie just abruptly ends with no explanations or really anything happening. Just a really really bad annoying movie. Gave it an extra star because acting was OK (in spite of Julia Roberts having the most irritating character ever).

Good but Flawed

I really wanted to like this movie more than I did. It was very original, had decent acting and interesting effects. It was also unnecessarily confusing, too long by about 40 minutes And from what I can figure out quite illogical in its use of multiverse theme. It also didn't help that the hardware they were using to zip around the Multiverse looked like it was from a 1980s science-fiction movie. Some of the fight scenes were cool, but had a lot of unnecessary slapstick comedy thrown in which really doesn't work for me and seemed very out of place. Worth a watch though.

Slow Burning Horror Movie with Lots of Depth
3 March 2020
Can't believe all the 1 and 2 star reviews. I found this film to be not only emotionally resonant, but very well constructed. There's lots of hidden clues to put together and this movie will leave you thinking. There are some genuinely shocking moments and memorable imagery. It can be a bit slow moving but I didn't mind at all as it's so beautifully filmed. I think some people did mind, got an attitude in the first half hour waiting for it to pick up the pace and it just doesn't so they left pissed off and came here to vent. It's purposely slow and thoughtful. If all you want is a fast moving thriller with jump scares this movie is not for you. If you like thoughtful and well crafted films that will stay with you long after its over you may just love it like I did.

Don't Listen to Bad Reviews - They Haven't Even Seen It
28 September 2018
You may love or hate Michael Moore's politics, but one thing is clear and that is that he makes good, entertaining documentaries. I guarantee that the vast majority of one star reviewers have not seen this movie. If you are firmly in Trumps party and think he's doing a "wonderful" job, yeah you probably won't like it. If you're anyone else definitely check it out.

The beginning is a little painful reliving election night. From there the film disperses into all kinds of political events, all illustrating that it is up to the people to take control back. This movie is not at all focused on Trump though he does take him on. There is a particularly cringe inducing part where he focuses on his bizarre relationship with his daughter. Moore also disses the DNC and even Obama (who seems to have really deserved it in this case). This isn't really a spoiler..just putting it out there so you know that Moore is no Democratic stooge. He's for the people and I always find it amazing that there are tons of working class Republicans who HATE him and yet would benefit greatly if his ideas were implemented.

To sum up, the movie is entertaining, very informative and above all very motivating! Loved it.

Outstanding Comedy!
27 July 2014
I was a bit skeptical about the concept behind this show. What saves it from banality is just how creative and edgy each episode is. The viewer has NO idea what is going to happen next. There is no formula and the tension is often ratcheded up to excruciating levels. There are tons of laughs here and the back stories are woven in expertly. So many comedies are played very hammy with lots of stereotypes. This is a very refreshing new form of comedy where the backdrop is more realistic with only some of the characters being over the top. If you're a fan of Louie, The Office or Curb Your Enthusiasm you will likely really love this show. It's fresh and Andy Daly plays the role of the hapless reporter to perfection. I hope that we see more hilarious comedies coming. Great stuff!

Original and Funny!
14 July 2014
Have you noticed there are not too many real laugh-out-loud comedies? Sure a lot of them are amusing and entertaining but do they make you really laugh? Next Time on Lonny is a truly original and very funny comedy. Take a half hour and watch season one (on youtube). You'll binge watch both seasons but each episode is only 4-5 minutes long. The same guy (Alex Anfanger) also came out with an excellent pretty unknown show called Big Time in Hollywood FL that is well worth checking out too.

Don't Believe All of the Reviews on Here
18 April 2014
I have to say that I am appalled at the ignorance of some of the fundamental christians reviewing this movie..Apparently it does not meet their sanitized Sunday School version of the Noah story with a kindly old man with a beard shepherding the animals two by two and seeing a nice shiny rainbow. They are shocked..SHOCKED I tell you that Noah is portrayed as a hardcore fanatic willing to kill children for God. Well Christians..what about Abraham? You know the "father of your faith"? God told him to kill his son and he was totally down for that...got the knife out and everything. In sermons this is seen as a shining example of faith that one should have should they hear voices in their head. What do you expect a prophet to be like? Remember Elijah? Called bears out of the woods to maul some young boys because they were taunting him.

And they are shocked...SHOCKED that Noah is betrayed as drunk and naked...read the freakin' bible..he gets drunk and naked! Yes the bible is filled with lunatic prophets, drunkeness, sex and violence. People complaining about this movie have you even read the book of Genesis?

I could go on here but I won't..Just wanted to share that I thought this was an excellent film overall..the acting was superb..he did make some interesting writing/directing choices some of which did not work. The rock creatures were cool but didn't seem to quite fit in. And I was hoping for more animal scenes and flood scenes. Also viewers should be aware that this the story is also based on the book of Enoch (an ancient book that did not make it into the biblical canon). This is where the angels and such come from. Overall I'd give it a 9 (but voted it a 10 to bring score up from the knuckleheads giving this a one. Good work Darren...the greatest living filmmaker in my opinion.

CGI Gone Wrong
21 March 2012
This was your standard implausible action adventure...nothing great, but not bad either UNTIL the closeups of the wolves came out. They were clearly CGI. You can get away with this in LOTR or other fantasy films, but this is a 'reaistic' action adventure complete with jittery hand-held and gritty characters. Then the wolves appear and they are like something out of a new version of little red riding hood. Closeups of their faces show highly intelligent, cunning eyes and they just looked fake. This is an example of a gross misuse of CGI...when the entire rest of the film is shot to look realistic you can't have a 'realistic' creature that does not look real. I turned the movie off in disgust as soon as they came out. Can I get a refund for that hour of my life wasted with this junk?

Excellent Adaptation - Beautiful to Look At
19 September 2011
Wow this is one of those movies that I am completely baffled about the low ranking on here. I agree with some of the critiques that the sound mixing could have been better but overall the film was gorgeous, overall well acted and very understandable for such a difficult play.

Someone mentioned poor special effects...I thought they were wonderful. Clearly the big money goes to plenty of trite blockbusters leaving little for pieces of art and beauty such as this. But what they lacked in money they made up for in creativity....I absolutely loved the rendition of the spirit Ariel. There was plenty of gorgeous scenery both real and mixed with CGI.

Julie Taymor never disappoints me and this is no exception!
