Beast (I) (2022)

Painfully bad,annoying cast.stupid film

Quite frankly i wanted the lion to wipe out this stupid annoying family almost from the off.

The young girls are irritating throughout and lilled any tension in evrry scene instead of the opposite.

Honestly, the whole thing is a frustrating mess.

The amount of laughable decisions makes me question how writing like this gets a green light.

Actually wanted to like this as i have never seen 'Idris Elba' in anything good before.

He is incredibly overrated .

Less said about the fight at the end ,the better Sorry but no..just no. Ridiculous.

It's beyond me why these amateur film's keep getting made. The audience who likes this nonsense should not be catered for.

The Batman (2022)

At last! It took them a long time to get there but they got there.

I have waited for decades for my favourite comic hero to be properly represented. Dark,serious believable Patterson delivers a very moody character indeed ,which is exactly what Batman should be.

Plus points.

No humour Very moody,atmosphere is perfect.

Believable, as he does not get everything right.

Script,to the point Neg points.. Andy Serkis(im sorry but he cannot act unless he is a creature character.,cannot stand him.

Please stop putting him in roles .

Catwoman,boring as hell,no charisma or personality.

Wokey nonsense black catwoman, black commissioner, black female mayor(yawn)you know how that goes.its getting to the point of funny of how scared they are, not to be diverse enough.

No huge build up or climax.

I enjoyed it very much and couldn't help notice how much it reminded me of one of my favourite movies 'The Crow' .

Praise indeed.

The Exterminator (1980)

Underated bleak movie which still holds true 42 years later.

I love this movie because it pulls no punches at exposing the very dregs of society in war and everyday New york.

Bleak and depressing in tone with not a single happy moment and thats why i respect it.

Yes a bit jumpy in edits but it gets to the point .

Love 'Ginty' as he looks so normal which is exactly the point. War can destroy someone/anyone and leave them knumb.

One of my favourites and still packs a punch to this day.

Love it.

A frustrating mess.Is this what horror has become?

So,i read the synopsis and wow this could have been written for me i thought.

Unfortunately i was wrong The acting was horrendous throughout from everyone in it, but particularly from main protagonists.

Script was laughable Painfully slow and unashamedly stolen clichés from tons of past films.

It seems like it has become acceptable for all these things in this genre and become the norm.

About time filmmakers stepped up there game .

This is modern day tripe and as frustrating as it is to say i almost give up.

The only thing that keeps me going is the odd film or tv programme that comes along and surprises me.

Don't bother.

Don't Look Up (2021)

A frustrating and scary look into society's dark mirror.

'Leonardo ' was the pull tbh as the plot seemed meh.

Well boy, was i pleasantly surprised.

This film outlined everything that is wrong with the mindset not only of politics and the disgusting media but of ourselves with shuddering black humour.

It's very weird but it's meant to be.

Our protagonists are the constant contrast to the crazy world we live in throughout the film and remind us of how crazy it has become.

A stunning ending excluding the ridiculous few mins after the credits which i wish i hadn't seen now.

Overall i found it incredibly moving and only wish people would listen and open their eyes.

Only criticism is its a tad too long but other than that congratulations on a much needed dig at what the world has become .

Unfortunately not enough of us will listen.

No Time to Die (2021)

Genuinely difficult to even know where to begin.

First part,promising.. Struggled desperately to keep watching when the woke box ticking no personality 007 was introduced.(so tired of this nonsense shoved down my throat).

Boring characters 😴 boring story ,no chemistry love story snd to top it all kill Bond off. The final insult was to play ('All the time in the world ) music at the end which was taken from one of the best bond film endings ever about his only love and made no sense at all to use this.

These films don't know what they want to be anymore(is it a remake )? If so why do they refer back to the old films that don't exist in the time line(The Aston Martin for starters) Bond is dead and i don't mean in the story.

The only virus is the woke virus and it's struck again.

Operation Daybreak (1975)

How is such a powerful film barely known ?

I will only say that this film deeply moved me and stayed with me for days.

This tragic story is played out with some fantastic acting and a strangely out of place yet perfect soundtrack.

The beauty of this film is the story is quite simple which gives the viewer time to relate to the main characters and pulls you in with some gut wrenching consequences.

At the end of this movie you ask yourself about the madness of war and the pointless of loss of life.

Further reading on the true story will leave you empty for day's i warn you.

Overall a low budget masterpiece of story telling.

The remake of this story(and this is a remake too) called "Anthropoid" is not even close .

"Anthony Andrews" is superb

Please watch it if you haven't seen it already and avoid other versions.

Curse of the Golden Flower (2006)

A visual masterpiece

This film is simply stunning.

Every frame is perfect with its stunning colours and incredible cinematography.

I have to say how great some of the acting was .

This plays out like a tragic opera which is a great thing!

The battle scenes were a bit cgi (lord of the rings) for my liking though.

Favourite scene was Ninja type guards in valleys.

I cannot give it a 10 because it felt a bit dragged out and story could have been better but everything else was beautiful. Really beautiful. Im interested as to how those colours were captured on film as i have seen nothing like this at all.

What impresses me most is that fims like this are still made without worrying about pleasing the masses.

Black Sabbath (1963)

Finally got to see this movie by buying the blu ray trusting the reviews but unfortunately very dissapointed.

First of all i don't like horror with a tongue in cheek element to it which was brought in by" Boris " in between movies.

First movie "the drip" or whatever its called was quite eerie and done its job but other two were barely watchable.

The telephone had a soundtrack that simply did not belong to it. It was more like a quirky spy thriller soundtrack that just gives it a stupid feel throughout.

Last was an unwatchable vampire piece that was virtually comedy with god awful makeup and sets.

Sorry to disagree with many but heh ho.

No classic for me.

The only good thing about this movie is that it gave the grandmasters of metal their name.

"The Swimmer" is one of those movies that no one seems to know even though one of "Hollywood's biggest stars plays the star role with utter brilliance. It has a stunningly atmospheric feel, which superbly builds to it's dramactic climax. The story ,simple yet odd only adds to the dream like atmosphere throughout. This is not your average movie.Way ahead of it's time with a "Kubrick" feel and for 1968 the director proves his worth. Apparently "Lancaster " part funded the movie to get it finished as he believed so much and became a project if love. I have seen this many many times now and each time i watch it i am in awe of its beauty. If you haven't ever seen it please watch this movie but with one thing in mind. Observe every frame with thought i.e the dialogue, the lighting,and the feel of every scene. If you do then i am sure you will understand this movie but if your half concentrating on your phone then don't bother. This stands proud in my top ten movies of all time and i don't say that lightly.

Derek DelGaudio's In & Of Itself (2020)

Watched because a recommendation. It was very very slow and drawn out with tons of fake emotions from "Derek" which left me struggling. I found it incredibly pretentious. The stories didn't really work together.If it was cut to 45 mins i might have liked it a bit more. Probably works better as a stage show. Some decent tricks but only a handful in an hour and a half?? Expected something special but this wasn't it.

Anything for Jackson (2020)

Heard this was decent and rating looked promising. What i got was an absolute mess of a film. It plays like a comedy throughout and the moments of (horror) jump in and out with laughable timing. It feels as though there was a good film underneath smothered by an awful script and amateur directing. Not for me.

Alien: Covenant (2017)

I genuinely can't believe the bad reviews here. This film is visually stunning and explains so much more of the story . Loved the subtle biblical hints of satan and the Angel which i thought was genius. The flute scene was simply beautiful. The characters were fairly convincing andit was refreshing that there were no big names amongst the crew. 'Fassbender' incredible. Cgi was on point and some scenes were breathtaking. I think Ridley has nailed it here and i tip my hat to a job well done. I for one ,loved it

Rambo: Last Blood (2019)

To say im a big fan of Sly and 'Rambo' is a huge understatement but this film i really struggled with. Started ok and thought Stallones acting was on point but after the first 15 mins its just all a bit silly. Unfortunately they have gone done the road of cliche drug cartel bad guys and stupid plot if you can call it one. Violence for Violence sake has just become mundane in movies. The ending was god awful comedy like nonsense and out of Rambos character in my opinion. Why cater for the masses with crap like this,when you have the masses on side already? First blood is where it all started and what brought everyone on board in the beginning ,so why go down the road of upping the body count to please brainless morons? 'First blood 'was a masterpiece because it was simple with brilliant characters. This is just a cliche ,bums on seats movie and not for 'Rambo' fans. Sly you are the greatest but this sucked.

Rod Steiger .What happened.?

So apart from the annoying 80s style music 'Rod Steiger' delivers possibly the worst Italian accent in the history of tv and film accents. Absolutely text book comedy Italian accent which for a great( once anyway) actor of his ability is unforgivable. Columbo is one of the best tv shows ever but they did get it wrong sometimes and this episode was one of them.

1917 (2019)

Very nicely shot and stunning Soundtrack but.. So many scenes seem too contrived and coincidental . Left me feeling quite meh! I believe that it was much much worse in real life with conditions beyond comprehension and this film does not seem to portray this at all.More of a Hollywood version of things. Unfortunately not for me although im sure it will collect awards left right and centre. Disappointing..

Hellier (2019)

After finishing both seasons i felt a bit confused with myself. I was aware during every long moment that everything that was being investigated was based on one email that was originally sent to them. That email could have been sent by anyone including themselves.An intriguing story i admit but thats it. Everything that follows is based on believing in this email. I have personally followed these subjects most of my life ( now nearly 50) and i was hooked..why?? Because the group are very likeable and seem very trustworthy and i really want to believe that they are trustworthy. Very well produced and shot. In a strange way i am kinda glad that pan didn't turn up because it would have seemed a bit too convenient. There lies the problem with these subjects.. If they do capture something then "hey it's got to be fake" then if they don't then" Hey nothing happens " Anyway congratulations on a polished product and a great approach.

I have to say, i enjoyed it but boy was it all over the place.I had virtually no idea what was going on half the time.Terrible shame as if it had a tight story plot then it would have been fantastic. Each scene was so badly edited that you had no idea who was where and who was dying. Frustrating to say the least. If you can switch your brain off and just sit back and enjoy the visuals then go for it. Why can't we have both great visuals and decent story telling? "Michael " can we please have both next time?

It really does amaze me in this day and age when you have the budget,time and power behind you and STILL manage to mess it up on such a level that virtually no fan will like? Series's 1 to 7 were simply perfect but 8?? It was rushed from episode 1 and was plain to see where it was going. Ok the battle of "Winterfell " was amazing even though they got the light levels completely wrong but after that the writing was simply embarrassing. No character's were true to character and it really left me hollow as the credits rolled and i mean nothing. It feels like they are all going to jump out from behind the door and go" had you going for a bit,we were only joking.Heres how it really goes".. Shame shame shame(pun intended) on the writers and hope it hangs round your incompetent necks for your entire careers.

Sigh. Where do you start with such a disappointing movie. This film is an absolute mess. Cliche after Cliche. Once it started finally decided to start moving with a terrible story it just got so ridiculous that everyone was laughing. When it was obviously trying to be scary. I so wanted to like this but sadly left holding my head with disappointment ,almost anger as it might have been decent ,if it was made in a different multi dimension. Why oh why can't the movie industry come up with a good serious non slasher,non jump scrare horror movie? Someone please please prove me wrong .

Skyfall (2012)

I have have a huge problem with this film which masquerades as a "Bond" movie. Apart from the opening credits it really was laughable. In every way. Bad guy=about as cliche as it gets. Script=please Judi Dench=annoying and unconvincing Plot line=shockingly cliche Where the hell did he get the Aston from with ejector seat?? Q tells him "we don't do that exploding pen thing anymore??? HE HASN'T DONE ALL THAT YET Aghhh 'frustrating mess. Don't get me started on the "Home alone" nonsense at the end. And remind me never to be so stupid to run around with a torch in a dark field when the bad guys are a stone throw away looking for me. Ending..still in shock how awful it was. "Casino Royale" was fantastic so how did this go so wrong? The lovers of this film??did you have a different version of it?

I am sitting here after watching at the theatre completely baffled. As soon as the first terrible joke came along i knew they had failed miserably. Then an endless barrage of pointless crap jokes just kept coming. When will Hollywood (meaning all big studios) learn that it kills tension and the film itself. The list of floors is too long to list and i am too angry right now to go through them all. The only decent scene was the fight between Rey,Kylo and the guards. The ending of "Force awakens" was awesome only to be DESTROYED by a predictably and crap chance of a quick laugh. I literally held my face with both hands when this happened. Im sorry to say but i think this franchise is over now with no going back. Im only glad i was there at the beginning to experience the magic before the movie industry forgot how to make good films.

Pan's Labyrinth (2006)

Rare masterpiece. ...slmple...

Where do you start with such an outstanding masterpiece. ..you start watching this movie with a certain idea of where this is going but boy oh boy are you wrong...it has dark almost black moments and then right next to these you have exceptionally beautiful moments happily riding along in perfect harmony..The look of this movie is bleak and damp and captures the war torn atmosphere perfectly even though its set in and around a forest with no damaged buildings to rely on..surely a feat on its own...The creatures partly played gloriously by"Doug Jones" are simply incredible. If you have not seen this movie put down your pad right now and go and watch this beautiful gem of a film ..I am extremely envious of you as I only wish I could go back in time and watch again with fresh eyes...a film like this comes around very seldom, so go enjoy the privilege. ..Del Torro ....you are a genius and I salute you...

Crash (I) (2004)

First of all I would like to say congratulations to a film that dares to take on a subject that these days is like pointing at the elephant in the room and calling him big nose.But to make a point, this is not only a film about racism but a film about peoples differences and importantly their point of view..SPOILER......Sandra Bullock s role highlights this when she realises that the only person who genuinely cares for her is her housemaid. ..(personally the most touching part of the film) oh and brilliantly underplayed by Sandra B...This film really surprised me because some scenes seemed to tap in to moments that I have witnessed with my own eyes and..OK OK maybe exaggerated for story telling purposes to a degree but the essential point being still made loud and clear.Some viewers more than others need clearer , more obvious story telling than others. ..All in all a very clever movie with a great point to make...
