Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)

An unexpected delight

To be perfectly honest I didn't expect anything from this movie. I loved the book as a kid,but hated the first movie: "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory".Roald Dahl himself didn't like that movie which says a lot.

However I was pleasantly surprised that I really ended up enjoying this movie.Johnny Depp is amazing as Wonka,outshines Wilder by a long shot. His portrayal is not scary,but wonderfully weird. Young Freddie Highmore as Charlie was equally as good and has a real future as an actor if he decides to keep it up. The rest of the cast also gave amazing performances,especially veteran Irish actor David Kelly as Grandpa Joe (remember that episode of Fawlty Towers??? :D).

I was however disappointed that they replaced the story of the rival candy maker who asks the children to steal an ever-lasting gob stopper with the story of Wonka's father and his childhood.However that wasn't in the book either but in the end they both give us the same result,Charlie is a kind-hearted young boy who deserves the factory and Christopher Lee is always worth watching. However it seemed like something Spielberg would do (happy sappy ending) and it was kind of annoying.

However overall,this combined with the amazing visual effects makes this movie well worth seeing.

Jack & Bobby (2004–2005)

Brilliant and intelligent drama that is just too intelligent for most people.

Jack and Bobby is by the far the best new show of the year,and one of the best shows on television.It is an intelligent and enjoyable drama with great actors.What more do you want?Oh wait,from what I've been reading from some people here is that it is boring and predictable.You know what I see?I see an intelligent drama that is just too intelligent for the vast majority of people.They would rather watch the crap that is reality television or gritty crime shows such as CSI which is the most predictable show on television.I'm not saying CSI is bad,I watch it and its okay,but it is just a crime/forensic drama that doesn't involve much thinking at all,I have always guessed the killers right off,and have always been right.

As for reality TV,it is ruining great dramas such as Jack and Bobby,Angel 3rd Watch which is better than ER but doesn't get near as many viewers.Jack and Bobby is beyond reality TV,it involves people to think and to get sucked in,reality TV is for the people who find it hard to think.Great acting from all the cast,most notably Christine Lahti and the young Logan Lerman and great writing from Greg Berlanti(Everwood),Thomas Schlamme(The West Wing),Vanessa Taylor(Everwood and Alias) and directors such as David Nutter (Without a Trace,Roswell,The X-Files), provide a top quality show that is just too intelligent for many people.

Are people blind???

I'd like to ask what morons have thrashed this great movie. You see there are people who have no idea what makes a good movie and they write crap.Like the guy who said it was an awful movie and that it was too predictable.Well its based on a true story.I don't think people understand that this type of thing happened here,it happened for decades and the story needed to be told.Most reviews have said this movie is useless,mainly because it is just "another" abuse story.So what?There have been movies about abuse made up,but this is based on things that happened form the 40's to the 80's.These boys were sexually and physically abused and it was ignored,there was no one to help them.Some reviews I have read seem to hint that they do not like the movie because it makes the priests out to be evil and they don't want their religion hurt.Well Ill tell you this,some of them were evil,of course not all of them,but yes,some of them were the definition of evil.If this movie doesn't hit you in a way that nearly makes you cry,then you have something wrong with you.And just look at all the awards it got from film festivals.

Great movie,great acting,Aiden Quinn was brilliant as were the kids.

Without a Trace (2002–2009)

Compelling and Brilliant

Without a Trace is now by far one of best show on TV,just behind Angel.Every episode is brilliantly written and acted by a great cast.Ten times the show CSI will ever be,I believe Without a Trace will continue to grow and get better and better.It is also nice to know that not every victim ends up dead as in CSI.At least here in Ireland it is not up against ER,which I also love,but I can see why that may be a problem in the US.It would be hard to chose between the two,but in the end I would say Without a Trace is a better show overall.With the Wb's stupid decision to cancel the brilliant Angel,at least there will be another show I can really enjoy!

Great and compelling show,I suggest you watch it!

Peter Pan (2003)

A magical movie that everyone should see!

This movie is great,ignore all the people who say otherwise,just go see it and enjoy- From the very beginning it was great,and right throughout until the end.The special effects were amazing,the flying looked great and there were great performances all round.

Slayerfaith says that this show is like 7th heaven and is unmoving. this is the 1st time i have actually watched a family show like this.and it is a very good one.you can really relate to alot of the characters in it and the stories told are great.it is much better than 7th heaven(which is terrible,it is so unrealistic in its own perfect world,the world is not like that).anyway everwood is a great show and ill continue to watch it.

Grounded for Life (2001–2005)

Great show-its even better than the new episodes of the simpsons(which are really bad and not funny)

This show is brilliant,really funny.those who say it is the worst show,well they really dont know what good tv is,and probably watch a load of crap shows.and ive looked at some of the comments,and people have said the kid actors are terrible.well these people are either jealous or just stupid.you dont get on tv if you are a bad actor.anywhere,any show,movie,play etc,no matter what itis,if u get it u are agood actor,if u are a bad actor,u dont get past the 1st auditions.this is a great show and well done to the wb for saving it.
