Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
People won't say crazy if you watch back to back shows of Bahubali
Action, Drama, Screenplay, Dialogues and VISUALS - you have it all on grand scale in Rajmouli's film. Apart from the 5-8 minutes of the randomly placed item songs, every single second of the the show time is worth being at the edge of your seat.
Prabhas and Rana have done their roles with their maximum potential. Their muscular, hulk like frames have created super amazing action & war scenes.
Anushka and Ramya are superb in their part. Alluring Tamanna in the waterfall scene appears as goddess of beauty.
Overall the movie is above the expectations. Cheers for the team.
Satyagraha (2013)
Satyagraha : A movie you should not miss.
The best thing in the movie was to bring it very close to real life experiences. You will easily find yourself familiar with the movement against corruption which is the base of the movie. In a scene Ajay explains how we can use strategic experience to solve problems of ground level easily. Also when the war breaks out between crowd and police forces, you can see what in reality happens behind our backs at such protests.
Each and every one has done his/her role nicely. Only the character which is played by Kareena (Yasmeen) is not clear but she has done her work nicely. Amitabh Bacchan has delivered another great performance. He never stops and get better with every single films. He has carried his character with so much grace that you can't find words enough to appreciate him.
I advice you not to believe in critics rating. You can't afford to miss such a movies in Bollywood. We get very few of this kind in Bollywood. Don't worry about having romantic masala ingredient. It's just for less than 5 minutes.
For me: Acting 10/10, Script 8/10, Direction 8/10, Songs 9/10, Music 10/10. Overall, its worth a watch for the audience which believes that India needs to get corruption free soon. The theme song Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram will bring out the emotion in you. The music excellent. http://qr.ae/Ij0ys
For me the movie lost track only at two places. First was when projecting Ajay's character as addicted to bad business world and second as expected, Ajay & Kareena's love scene and romantic song. It was not more than 6-7 minutes in total and rest of the movie gelled well with the script, theme and subject.
The Wolverine (2013)
No action, new movie with melodrama in Wolverine Series
You can't expect a Hollywood movie to be like Bollywood's melodrama at least not if it belongs to action series of X-men and Wolverine. It is obvious to expect great action sequences but all you get is just a fighting scene on Bullet train.
I have not read marvel's comic so I don't expect it to follow comic storyline. But I was expecting some breathtaking scenes gelled with high intensity moments but all we got is cartoonish fight with a samurai like bot of Admantium in the end.
Most funny part is that Yashida had a lot of Admantium to create a bot but he still needs Admantium from Wolverine. Looks funny right ? To add some more fun, he can easily take Admantium at the age of 60-70 (not disclosed in movie) while even for Wolverine, it was too hard to accept Admantium in his body.
Film fails at many places to give you the same trill you expect from Wolverine. Only reason to watch this movie is being true follower of Wolverine and Hugh Jackman's acting. Every one in the movie has done his part quite brilliantly but director's vision really killed the spirit of movie.
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013)
Must watch if you think Bollywood can not produce great movies.
When I saw the trailer, I thought this biopic is going to be another Bollywood disaster. But when the positive reviews came from friends on social media, I decided to watch it. Before this I was neither fan of Farhan, nor Sonam's but Rakeysh OP Mehra, I consider as great film-maker so I went for the night show at 10:30 PM assuming that I will be almost empty hall but surprisingly it was houseful and I got seat in 3rd row. IN first 15 minutes, I was sure these 3 hours are going to be ride with goosebumps, excitements.
You can feel the pain of failure and happiness of each and every success of legendary Indian athlete Jeev Milkha Singh. Farhan is in so much of depth with this role that you will love it. It is a complete 3 hours treat which gives you a lot of lessons. That it is not easy to succeed. Just a moment can ruin all your efforts.
Table No.21 (2013)
Fresh idea but not well directed.
The movie is based on article no. 21 of Indian constitution. And you will only be able to find out the connection in the last 1/2 hour as promised by thrillers. Acting done by Paresh Rawal is quite good but Rajiv is not good in it. He lacks the charm and the acting done in college life is not up to the mark.
Fiji's scenic beauty is very well captured though. Winning a trip to Fiji for a mediocre couple must be quite a surprise but 10 millions hits on website, 21 crore to win in a game that all does not look promising even in movie. A fresh approach and different from the stereotyped bollywood movies. Movie is good in patches of 10-15 minute but the binding factor in the movie is missing.
The Attacks of 26/11 (2013)
Thought provoking with big sentiments but acting missing.
If only acting of other characters (Nana Patekar stands out as usual) have been up to the line, this could have been a great movie. The narrative in voice of Nana Patekar is really able to bind you with each and every scene. Some of the events are overly explained and acting of Kasab (Sanjeev) disappoints. The best part of movie is where Joint Commissioner of Police and Kasab are in face to face (happens twice). In first one, RGV is able to bring out the mindset of terrorists and meaning of jihad for them, In the second one, he is able to narrate the falsehood in the theory of jihad and extremist characteristics of religion. It has bollywoodiya style of telling the story but that's OK because its not a documentary, it's a commercial cinema movie.
Why watch: If you are like thriller and action (too much gunshots, bloodshed). If you are fan of Nana Patekar's acting and RGV's movies.
Why not watch: If you like romantic and tadk-bhadak movies. If you are thinking it as documentary on 26/11 attacks.
Kai po che! (2013)
One of the best for 2013
This can be put in the category where bollywood and parallel cinema ends can meet. Director Abhishek Kapoor has done what any director dreams about . A tightly bind script, best possible actors(not super stars), no item dance yet pleasureful bollywood movie. Based on Chetan Bhagat's "3 mistakes of my life", it is about dreams of modern Indian youth, their relations, real world mishaps. Went for the movie without any expectation and thinking but when i came out of the hall, it was like one of the best experience one can ever have in cinema hall. On Acting: Shushant, Rajkumar and Amit have done complete justice with their roles. Every one of them has got their fare share on screen and executed it beautifully. Amrita has got lesser chance but she is charming, refreshing yet caring girl in the role.
Must watch for everyone, be it a teenager or young professional.
OMG: Oh My God! (2012)
Nice concept, beautiful portrayal of GOD.
One of the best movies to portray the true concept of GOD. All characters have done their parts so well that you won't be able to find the best. Paresh Rawal is at his best and Akshay looks very calm (portrays God very well). Mithun has done a very good portrayal of a spiritual guru or swami.
Best thing is the light way of representing very important issue. After watching the movie, your view about God will surely change a bit. Some of the dialogue are perfect. Towards the end of movie Mithun says, "They are not God loving people, they are God fearing people." Just watch the movie and you feel some senses changed.
