Its a shame someone like Mathew Modine was suckered into this. He is good as usual at keeping a solid character portrayal but thats where it all ends. After that this is probably one of the hardest things I have ever made myself watch. A real lousy implementation of VFX. The fact that his partner did not complain to someone is totally unreal. Let us not forget of course the complete misrepresentation of scientific fact. Finally what happened to the payback against secretary of defense and his sidekick. The ending is a complete let down. Who ever funded this must be regretting it now! Don't waist your time unless you wan to see how not to make a sci-fi. This is more like a bad drama.

Warning: Spoilers
For all the negatives i have read i must say; This was well produced and the acting was good, it moved at a good pace and for all its commercial considerations it delivered entertaining value. Certainly as compared to other films that missed the thrill target (Oblivion), i think this one held onto itself. It was a clean story that when supported by the "Scary" Bill Paxton and the determined Laurence Fishburne was well watchable. The VFX suited the budget range and served purpose well. The novelty of the real location and the technical undertaking of shooting in its extreme isolation, I salute all. It is hard to get those shoots done, i know! For the spoilers - Hindsight, always allow you to see another ending to a film!

So overall i give it a 7 as a film that will fill the gap nicely whilst you wait to gamble your money on the next £100m Hit or bomb, as they are these days!
