Superman (1987)
Stick to the 1978 Hollywood Version
I can't remember the budget of the original Superman but don't you have to pay royalties if you're going to steal the CGI etc from the Hollywood version; perhaps they did pay. It would explain why the rest of the movie was so bad, no money left. Then again, as it almost looked like the Hollywood scenes were filmed from a television set, perhaps it's okay to plagiarise.
Rewrites of older movies can be fantastic, but I'm afraid this one didn't make the cut; totally unoriginal and unimaginative. It would be interesting to see a Nollywood version of this classic movie; as Nigeria are producing some really quite good and heart felt material.
Altar (2016)
A refreshing change in the Found Footage Genre
A well written and directed movie with enough suspense. What made Altar different in the found footage genre was nobody shouting "is that thing turned on, turn the damn thing off now". I don't understand why writers think yelling at the camera adds credence to a movie. Despite being a low budget movie, the acting and directing was good enough, The only character I couldn't understand was Bo. All the other characters brought something to the movie, contributing to the ambiance, whether that be fear, panic, heroism etc... Bo's character seemed like a lost child. Whilst his background was explained early in the movie, borderline asperges's and having had problems, his dialogue with Asher about the blue stones "I like it and it's pretty" portrayed an innocence and immaturity that was out of place. It's a shame for the other actors, as Bo spent the entire movie complaining. If no body had mentioned Bo having asperges's, one could be forgiven for thinking he was a young girl, 'don't walk there, you'll crush the pretty flowers' though not a line from the movie pretty much sums up Bo's personality.
