Panic Button (2011)
OK ,if you like these types of movies ( low budget,horror)
Typical thriller/horror with a modern twist. Basically low budget "Saw" with some modern plugins. If you like such movies ,maybe you will like this one.
For a low budget movie its a good effort.
The plot is in my opinion lacking, it leaves no room suspense to build up. Or to build any relationships between the characters or the viewer. Feels rushed. The story unfolds by itself, with little active choices.
The noname actors give a good performance, trying to make the most of it.
These other reviewers must be friends of the director or something giving it 10/10.
Vanishing on 7th Street (2010)
biblical themes
I read the first 30 reviews, and is a bit puzzled that none of them address the poorly hidden religious/Christian symbolism.
I am not a religious person, so I derive this from my limited knowledge of the bible.
If you leave the light, you are in danger. If you lose you personal source of light while in the dark,the shadows take you. The shadows try and trick you into walking into the dark, and release you personal light.
light = Christianity personal light = faith in Christianity darkness/shadows = evil/hell/Satan
It is the rapture,the endtime, Armageddon.
And the only ones saved are 1 boy (James) and 1 girl (Briana) , by hiding in a church? James is a biblical name referring to father of the twelve founders of the twelve tribes of Israel Adam and Eve? That in the ends rides away together on a horse. Horses have a special place in the bible, spiritual creatures.
I lost count of how many days that passed in the movie, but it could be 7 days. 7th street? biblical number.
The producers tries to blur that this is a religious film, by throwing odd elements into the mix, Crocatoan Lost colony. Not giving both kids biblical names. Just one.
I think the producers hoped to cash in on the religious crowds appetite for Christian themed movies. Christians with basic knowledge of the bible will recognize these themes fast. While nonreligious people will not connect the dots. And view it like any other mystery/survival movie.
Subconscious conditioning? :)
