Fear the Walking Dead: Close Your Eyes (2018)
Nothing makes sense
About nothing made sense in this episode.
Alicia goes in a abandoned house. She kills the dead being there. In the poring rain she lays them outside. After that nothing makes sense anymore.
She finds Charlie there and says to her all the things she did to her and her family. But although she ruined her life, she lets her stay. 1. Doesn't kill her, not even send her away? Even rescues her from a death.
2. She tries to leave with a car and falls, and passes out while she falls in the mud?
3. Charlie manages in some way to get Alicia back in the house. You don't get to she how, but probably pulling her through the mud, up the stairs in the house?
4. They get stuck in the basement. Whole thing has a water level of at least 1.5m. Apparently that happens with a few hours is heavy rain?
5. After this adventure they can accept each other, go on the road rottweiler and even have some fun?
I think the series is pretty fun to follow, but this episode is just stupid.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Starts slow but get's better every episode
It took me 5 or 6 episodes to get in to. Untill then I didn't have a clue where it was going.
After that it got better and better. Now finished with season 2 and can't wait for season 3.
Joker (2019)
Great, but nothing to do with the comicbook character
Ok, so almost everybody loves this movie. I think it was great to. Phoenix was perfect, great directing, perfect music, etc. Read the reviews and you know it all.
Only reason why it's not a 10 for me, is because it's not the Joker. I'm a big fan of dc comicbooks and movies and I know originstories van be changed in every way, but except for it playing in Gotham and an irritating rich guy named Bruce Wayne there is nothing about the story that has something to do with the "real" Joker and what he is all about.
That's a real problem for a movie that's based on an existing character.
It's not just that he has a name we have bever heard before. It's the way he acts, the way he murders and the reasons why.
He has a reason why je murders people. They where all a**holes to him. The Joker we know kills for fun, to get what he wants or just because he can. He is bever been such a sad character, but a outgoing crazy person.
So without the tie-in with the DC universe the movie would be Just as great, or maybe even better. Only problem would be it probably would not get as much attention and exposure so not that many people would watch it and that would be a shame for such a great film.
The Dark Tower (2017)
Started ok, but was terrible for the last half hour
Ok, so I didn't read the books. Even didn't know it was based on a King tale until credits rolled. So I don't have anything to compare it with.
I thought the movie starter out fine. Although stuff could be set out a little better eceryrhing fell in place during the movie.
The man in Black looked pretty bad ass bad guy and the gunslinger like a good guy.
No Oscar material, but it was more then "watchable".
But after an hour or so it rushes to the end and all the build up excitement was gone. It deels like they made a 2 hour movie but they only had a timeslot of 1.5 hour.
If the end of the story was told like the first hour it would het at least a 6 star.
A shame because they really screwed up half way.
Robin Hood (2018)
Look at it like a regular 13 year old
There are a lot of negatieve reviews on this film and they are 100% correct. If you look at it the way most people do.
It starts of with saying "forget everything you know" and you really have to do that or else it will be a horrable 2 hours. It's mot a classic tale.
This isn't a Robin Hood like we know. It isn't a historicly correct movie. Not by a long shot.
It isn't even set in a sertan time if you ask me.
The movie itself? It laks a lot. Dialogs aren't really good. The story is pretty thin and it's anything but realistic.
So what is it then? I will tell you. It's a nice and simple popcornmovie. It has explosions, it has action, it has some funny moments, actors that really like their roles and some beautiful wide area shots. And, although really thin and not always very logical, it has an ok storyline.
A bit of The Green Arrow (tv show), meets Assassin's Creed, meets Fast and the Furious, meets the original Robin Hood, meets some other videogame or movie.
Probable the best way to say it: if you are a regular 13 old boy you'll probably love it. Are you the seriously older brother, mom or dad, you will probably just shake your head. Or you will buy that large bag of popcorn, sit down, mind tot zero and have some fun like the 13 year old next to you.
Heartthrob (2017)
Leadcharacter saves it a bit
I saw the Atypical show on Netflix and it made me watch this movie.
With a potentionally interesting script it is poorly executed.
Keir Chilchrist (Henry) is pretty good as MIT-student-to-be and strubbling with the first love in his life.
He is good enough to be convincing toch be the twisted boyfriend. But also kind enough to be the good guy he also is.
But the leading girl (Sam) is a lot less convinsing. She supposted tot be the popular girl but I don't buy it for a second. But that is the least of the problems.
Like said by people before. The script is bad. A lot of things just don't add up and the conclusion does not make any sense. Actions of characters seem to
have no consequences for others than themselfs. It looks like characters are so naïef but suprisingly they get away with everything.
The ending is so bizarre that I don't know what tot think about any character.
I would watch a different movie.
Insatiable (2018)
Don't know if I want a second season...
I started watching this show after picking up on the hype about the fat shaming and stuff.
First of all, I think it's nonsense tot put it in that corner.
I think her worries about being pretty and normal is something a lot of people can relate to. That she was fat doesn't really matter. There where a couple of Jokes about it, but I don't think they would hurt anyone. For instance the joke Brick made at the roast I thought was really funny.
But why I gave it a 6/10 had to do with some things I didn't like.
The whole "I'm a bad person" thing was going in for to long. And the way Christian behaved didn't make anyone call the police any sooner? Or his dad?
At a point I was really feeling for Patty, but the last 2 episodes killed that with the way she behaved.
Espacially at the end I thought the Bob storyline was more interesting and funny and it was something I've never steen before on a show.
A shame that's it's over (for now) but I'm not sure a second season would be right. The ending kind of fits and although it could be a kliffhanger it doesn't make me want more.
