Vacation (2015)
Hysterical start, not so hysterical ending
After hearing about all the negative things about this movie I went in with very low expectations. However, frankly, I have quite enjoyed this movie... well, the most of it.
The first half of this film is outrageous and absolutely hysterical; the whole theater was laughing the whole time. Each character brought something very unique and funny, no character was felt redundant. I especially enjoyed the chemistry between the two brothers, who were both great. Chris Hemsworth was a big surprise for me in the film. He showed that he has great comedic chops!
After the Chris Hemsworth part, however, the film started to fall apart. It got a little too serious, and the jokes were getting repeated and becoming a bit forced. It just wasn't that funny anymore. It was starting to get dragged out with unnecessary long scenes.
Overall, definitely worth checking out; the first half would certainly make you laugh a lot!
Minions (2015)
a Mindless Flick
In order to have fun with this movie, you have to shut off your brain COMPLETELY before going in. I did not care about the main story of this movie whatsoever. The plot was really weak and just way too silly. That it is not the minions' fault. Minions themselves were hilarious at times, but they simply cannot carry an entire movie about them. I love the minions, they are great secondary characters, but during the movie I felt like their silly activities, that I adore in small portions, were just getting too repetitive. Even though the movie is only hour and a half long, I was already bored half way through, because of the plot.
Overall, "Minions" is not a terrible movie, and if you are a fan, you will definitely have some fun with it, but don't expect anything like the "Despicable me" movies.
Magic Mike XXL (2015)
A very entertaining movie for girls and guys!
Never in a million years would I imagine to end up enjoying a movie about male strippers. Both, the first "Magic Mike" and "Magic Mike XXL" proved me wrong. I loved watching this movie! Like the first one this film is not simply showing a bunch of naked dudes dancing on the screen, it is more of an adventure film.
"Magic Mike XXL" has a very simple, yet very entertaining plot. Even though the movie was over two hours long, it didn't feel too stretched out to me. I kept wanting to watch more and see what this group of guys are going to do next. The tone of the film is perfect. It is not taking itself too seriously, yet I would not call this movie a pure comedy. There are, although, a bunch of moments in the film that made me laugh out loud really hard. Channing is great, but Joe Manganiello was the best for me; he is absolutely hysterical. I am not a fan of male striptease, but for some reason I really enjoyed the actual performance scenes too. The performances are not what you would typically imagine; they are very original and well rehearsed.
Overall a very fun and entertaining movie, regardless if you are a guy or a girl.
Ted 2 (2015)
As good as the first one!
As we know from experience the sequels to this type of movies are usually not even slightly close to being as good as the original, and are much worse. "Ted 2" was not the case for me. Really enjoyed watching this movie! Most of the jokes were really funny and not forced. Like the first one the movie has a couple of absolutely hilarious cameos!
Amanda Seyfried was a great addition. She is really funny and plays a much bigger role in the movie then I expected. I really bought the chemistry between all three main characters. The movie has a lot of heart, and you can feel that these friends really really love and care about each other.
My main and probably the only problem with the film was that it was a little too long. Many scenes were dragged out and definitely could use some fat cutting.
Overall, very funny! Still can't decide which one of the two movie I liked more.
Jurassic World (2015)
Awesome!
I loved watching this movie! "Jurassic World" is a constant roller coaster of action. There are several that I particularly enjoyed about this film. First of all, the world itself! What I really liked about this movie is that it actually shows you the whole amazing Jurassic World. It shows you all of the major attractions of this incredible looking park along with even more incredible various creatures inhabiting it. The dinosaurs look insane! I don't think they could get any more realistic and terrifying. Secondly, the cinematography. The film is beautifully shot; each scene is like a vibrant, dynamic and a lot of times terrifying painting. I certainly did not except this movie to be so brutal and sometimes legitimately scary, but I loved that about it. The way the shot is used to build up the suspense is very well done. Acting is fine, nothing too special. Chris Pratt is cool, but he is basically playing Star Lord from "GOG". Humor in the film was pretty good, sometimes a little silly, but still funny. The parts with Jake Johnson (Nick from "New Girl") were really funny. Overall very very fun film, definitely not for little kids!
Spy (2015)
Best Comedy of the Year so Far
Loved this movie! It exceeded my expectations so much. Undoubtedly the funniest comedy we have gotten so far filled with really fresh humor. There was never a point in the movie that I would feel bored. For the first time we see Melissa playing an actual badass being absolutely hilarious at the same time. Jason Statham - we have seen him being funny before, but in this movie he was hysterical! Jason was the best part of the movie. Surprisingly, movie had some great action scenes too.
Can't and Don't really want to say much more about this title. Watch it, you'll love it!
San Andreas (2015)
A disaster movie with the Rock
I had a really fun time with this movie. "San Andreas" seems like a typical disaster movie that we have already seen a hundred times before, however some noticeable elements of this film made it much more enjoyable than most of the other movies of the same genre that we get today.
First of all the movie was very well paced. There were hardly any moments throughout the film that I would like the scene is getting dragged on or is too slow. "San Andreas" is almost constantly filled with action, which is what the audience wants from this type of movies.
Another important thing is that this movie didn't take itself too seriously. It was supposed to be a popcorn flick, and it was. Most of the jokes were really funny and not forced. Sure there were a couple of scenes that I would go - "Really?", but most of the time it was fine.
The visuals are spectacular! The insane special effects were definitely my favorite part of the whole movie. And finally. the Rock is just AWESOME. He is basically playing the same guy in every movie that he is in, but that is why we love him!
Aloha (2015)
not a good movie
Ever since I heard about this movie and saw the trailer I got very intrigued. It is directed and written by Cameron Crowe ("Jerry Maguire", "Almost Famous") and is filled with an all-star cast; so what could go wrong? Well pretty much everything.
The movie turned out to be very boring and dull from the beginning to the end. It is about a classic love triangle between the guy, the ex, and the new girl. Usually I don't mind this kind of movies and sometimes even end up enjoying them, however this one was just putting me to sleep. There is no chemistry between the main characters, the dialogue is really bad, and the circumstances surrounding this love triangle are even more dumb. The movie was trying to be funny, but it just wasn't. The only parts that I thought were funny, and I kind of enjoyed were the ones with Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski, and they were only in the movie for about two minutes each. Overall, very disappointed by this movie and by the fact that the actors that I am huge fan of let me down so much.
Get Hard (2015)
Mayo and Chocolat
Went in to watch this with very low expectations, however ended up laughing for most of the time throughout the film. Kevin Hart is being Kevin Hart, and Will Ferrell is being Will Ferrell, but that's what we love them for. Together they have a great chemistry that I completely bought into.
You do realize exactly what's going to happen at the end of the movie, and the last half an hour of the movie, to me, was a little bit forced, and the jokes were getting repetitive. This did not however ruin my overall enjoyment of this film.
A decent comedy, especially, if you are a big fan of these two comedians.
