A Renewal of Faith & Love!
26 May 2004
Having been raised in the Salvation Army, I have always known the story of the great Jesus Christ, from immaculate birth to tragic yet inspirational death & RESURRECTION! Now, I hold Mel Gibson high & thank him for the superbness of the Passion. I admit I was ready to watch this but to actually SEE what happened, in full gruesome detail, of what happened to Christ, as if I was actually THERE in His time, was almost too much! I can't remember how many times I bursted into tears watching the Son of God be tortured, scourged, scourned, beaten to a bloody mess, and whipped countless times while He was carrying the cross to the hill. . . . . . .I have turned my life back around and praise Him for what He did! Leaving the theater in tears, myself, I was not surprised at how many were also crying! What did surprise me were the ones that weren't & acting like it was just another movie. I have my own opinions & will not express on that other than this movie. YES we didn't know Him personally back then, but you still can't help but think.. . ."HE did that for ME?" My other friend and devout Christian believer put his arm around me & we had serious prayer after that, by his car. Now, you can't say if Jesus was Democrat, Republican, or whatever in those man-made ranks. . . .this was, is, and always will be Jesus Christ, the true-born Son of God & mankinds' true saviour! SPLENDID JOB MEL!

Legionnaire (1998)
Certainly different, and uniquely done!
26 May 2004
I bought the DVD off the sales rack at Wal-Mart, thinking I could pawn it off after once viewing it. . . .not expecting much of it, even though I am a fan of Van Damme. BUT, it surprised me as Van Damme expresses his DRAMATIC skills! Not his usuall puncher-kicker film, he tells the story of how it is for a legionnaire watching people he knows being picked off one-by-one in the heated Hell of war! Although it's not a true story, it IS, however, true to the way it is with any heartfull man who joins the Foreign Legion and gets caught up in such Hellish realities of hatred in combat. Leaving behind all he's ever known & felt comfortable with and fighting for a whole different cause, and finding out later the trespasses that happen which can result in hatred. You can feel the loneliness he felt as the Arabs ride away & he's the only one left standing there in the death, rubble, and smoke of what was his fort in Northern Africa. Certainly a welcomed change from Van Damme's usuall martial arts mayhem. It's a keeper!

Silent Hill 3 (2003 Video Game)
Creepy, and loving it!
18 May 2004
I am not too easily creeped out but there are times where I would like to be shocked. I played the 1st one on the PS, and rented the other two when I got a PS2. SH3 is certainly different from the 1st two games, but it still delivers when I want to feel the creepiness around me! The graphics are very good & sure makes for a realistic feel. Included with the game was the original CD music soundtrack and it makes your mind wander when you listen to it! The bizarre enemy characters, though not as creepy as the ones from parts 1 & 2 still provide a thought provoking "Where the **** did they come from?!" If a movie's made about Silent Hill, it'd better be something more than Resident Evil was. Good movie, but the characters should've remained as in the games. Stay true & all will be fine.

Kingdom Hearts (2002 Video Game)
Fun, Memorable, and Emotional. . .
18 May 2004
I have always been a fan of both Disney & video games like Final Fantasy! A small challenge & memorable characters, this game caught my attention right away! After playing it, conquering the game, and the ability to save your place in the game, I just could not get enough of it! I recommend this game to anyone who's a fan of Disney & Squaresoft! Not just the gameplay, but knowing that 90% of the original voice casting from the movies & series of Disney was what also caught my attention in the credits! Being knowledgeable of entertainment and performer myself, I checked up on much of this! This Playstation 2 game's VERY WELL DONE! I certainly look forward to the sequel! BRING IT ON! I give this game, on a scale of 1 to 10, an: 11!

Lovable classic!
18 May 2004
With the earlier forms of Anime, or Japanese Animation to the uninitiated, from Voltron, Tranzor Z, and Yamato, I have to say that Locke the Superman was among the uniquely done animated features of its time. I purchased a copy of the video back in 1992 for a mere $10.00 from a local video store. I had been searching all over Maine for something Japanese animated after watching Osamu Tezuka's "Unico" on the Disney channel. I became instantly addicted to the style! That was in 1988. After finding the feature, I watched it once & was surprised at how well-done Yuki Hijiri did in creating Locke & the other characters! KUDOS to Hijiri-san for a job well done!

Ranma ½ (1989–1990)
Hmmmmm. . . . .
18 May 2004
This is probably the most unique Anime series I've ever laid eyes on. I was floored at the hilariousness of the situations the characters got themselves into with each new adventure, big & small, in Japan all because of Genma's craziness when it comes to his son/daughter Ranma Saotome! One trip to China's Bayankala Range/Qinghai Province leads to the curses of Ranma, Genma, and a few others that become involved, and you have one outrageous series from the Manga Master herself, Rumiko Takahashi. I certainly have enjoyed it, myself, and collected a lot of the Anime on video and a couple on DVD. Highly recommended for fans of Japanese animation!

Saturday Supercade (1983–1985)
Wow! Lost & Found, and Loved!
18 May 2004
It took me years to find something on this one! When this cartoon aired on TV,back in 1983 (I was about 9, or something). . . .I was amazed at the fun look it portrayed! The superbly catchy theme song forever stuck itself in my mind! YES, 1984, when it was in full-time swing on Saturday Morning TV, I was 10 years old, now that I recall. 20+ years later I paid some guy in Florida $20.00 for a copy he said he had! I got it in the mail (living in Winston-Salem at the time) and I was thoroughly satisfied with what I received. ORIGINAL COMMERCIALS & all! I miss such cool cartoons as these! They ought to be aired on TV once more!
