His Dark Materials (2019–2022)

It's really good but it could have been even better.
6 November 2019
I'm a huge fan of the books and I've been looking forward to this so much! Thoughts on the first episode is that they seem to be keeping more to the books than the movie did. Casting is just okay, again could have been slightly better. The only casting that really bothered me was Ma Costa as she was nothing like the character in the books. I'm a little worried about Lee Scoresby too, as he should be MUCH older than the actor who has been cast. Doesn't work with the story or the timeline at all.

Overall, my biggest complaint is the lack of daemons. I've seen that the author has already addressed this and explained that it's a mix of budget and not wanting every scene to be overun by animals. I understand but I'm still disappointed.

Oh, and to the reviewers complaining about the pronounciation, it IS pronounced DEMON, not "daaaymon"!

Despite these minor gripes, as a whole show I really did enjoy it and I'm looking forward to watching the rest. I feel like it might be hard going for non book fans (as seen in the many "GoT wannabe" comments in the other reviews) but I hope people give it a chance.

Absolutely love it!

A friend recently recommended this show to me. I'm not the world's biggest fan of Josh Dallas but this show is so compelling that I was totally booked by the end of the first episode. I practically inhaled the rest of the season over the next few nights. I'm fascinated by the premise and I'm excitedly looking forward to season 2!

Really good fun, action filled superhero movie
12 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Well, I loved it. There is so much hate for this movie but, since I was a kid, I've always been a sucker for the flashy, has superpowers, all powerful type superheroes so this was everything I hoped for in a movie! I thought all the cast did a great job (the de-aging cgi is insanely good these days). I do want to touch on the most common complaint I've seen regarding Brie's performance . . . her "lack" of emotion. Firstly, her character is a trained fighter pilot, a soldier. How many people do you know in the armed forces who allow emotions to lead their actions in the field. Or are they trained NOT to do that, to put their heads down, do their job calmly and rationally? Exactly. Use some common sense people. Just because she's female doesn't mean she has to be emotional. To sum up, if you don't take life too seriously, love a bit of fun superhero action and aren't intimidated by a strong female character then go see this movie, it's great!

Based on the ORIGINAL FAIRY TALE!
25 December 2018
So many ignorant people here who don't realise that Disney did not create The Little Mermaid. In actual fact, it's a fairy tale written in 1835 by Hans Christian Andersen. Whilst I agree that this movie has some very bad acting and is a bit slow paced, it's a good story, fairly close to the original story and overall I enjoyed it

Sweet, cute and cheesy
21 December 2018
I'm a sucker for a cheesy Christmas movie and thought this one was great. What I want in a Christmas movie are cute, likeable characters; Christmas trees, lights and decorations everywhere; an interesting variation in the storyline and a happy ending. This movie delivers on all counts. Anyone complaining that it's too cheesy or predicable clearly doesn't understand what Christmas movies are all about.

Fuller House (2016–2020)

Fabulous nostalgia, done really well!
7 March 2018
I'm a huge fan of Full House and pretty much grew up with the show so when they announced Fuller House I was immediately interested. And, honestly, it's great. I love that it's just a silly, fun, happy show. It doesn't take itself seriously at all (included lots of jokes poking fun at itself) and there is always a happy ending. Shows like this are rarer these days as the style of TV has changed over the years. This is a fantastic throwback to happy 80's TV and I love it!

Good fun, family viewing
18 July 2014
I love this show. It doesn't take itself seriously at all (anyone complaining that it's historically inaccurate is either an idiot or really doesn't get the English sense of humour). There are fewer and fewer shows these days that you can sit down to watch with the whole family, everything seems to have tons of swearing and sex in it, so it's refreshing to have a show like this. I recently met two of the main actors at a signing event (Robert Emms and Jack Donnelly) and they were so bouncy and excitable over the show - something that is great to see. It's not meant to be serious or historically accurate so please don't expect that, just take it as it is . . . silly, fun viewing!
