That '90s Show (2023)
Fun and comforting
When a show ends, you usually never get to see those characters you love return again. If you do, it seldom makes you happy they did. This new reboot not only has a few well chosen run-ins from certain previous cast members, but Red & Kitty hold the fort down like only they can. The new cast of kids is great too, with each one having their own moments to shine and be exactly what we need them to be for the show. I hope this gets renewed for a Season 2, I haven't had a good binge like that in a long time, and having it be in a familiar place with similar hijinks going on made it all the better. Hats off to the creators and the cast (new and old), this was a fun return to Point Place, can't wait to see what happens next!
Dark (2017)
Great Series
Very few times do shows actually deliver not only a satisfying ending, but one that is thematically appropriate. Dark delivered a complex, engaging narrative with believable characters. One of the most confusing, mind-bending shows I've ever seen, and they delivered it all in only 26 episodes. I'd highly recommend watching it if you're at all intrigued by VERY complex sci-fi themes or rich, tragically beautiful narratives...you will not be disappointed. I'd also highly recommend watching in German with English subtitles as to not lose the actors' great performances.
Supernatural: Bitten (2012)
The Sequel To Chronicle?
Fun episode, the brothers take a backseat to some wayward kids. Is it just me or did this episode literally follow the plot of Chronicle? Not complaining about it, at all! I think it's an underrated movie/plot and they did a good job adapting a similar one! Good job for one of the many "spin-off" style episodes.
Supernatural: Carry On (2020)
Carry On Indeed
It's a great epilogue for a great series. I saw a lot of flak given to this, saying Dean died a stupid way or it should've ended at the previous episode with their victory over Chuck. It DID end there, this was everything after. The Spider-Man: Far From Home adjustment after the big battle, the equivalent to the Harry Potter "All Was Well" ending...this was their version of those. Dean died the way he always knew he would, in a fight. And furthermore, by random chance, proof this is life without Chuck, proof of random chance. Sam lived a life he always dreamed of, and Cass and Jack are out there fixing everything. Was it 100% perfect? No. But, it was incredible considering this has been a 15 year long story that didn't have many good ways it could end. I thought it was beautiful, and fitting. The thank you to the fans was perfectly in line with the spirit of SPN, since the fans are what helped keep it alive. It's fine if people didn't like it, they're entitled to their opinions. But, I ask fans to consider this...we, as fans of shows, don't really always get a good ending...or sometimes an ending at all. This one was fitting, and good...you can't really get much better than that. My sincere congrats to the cast and crew of Supernatural for delivering this.
Supernatural: A Most Holy Man (2018)
Great Episode
Fun mysterious plot. Anyone else concerned about Sam having CTE? He's been hit in the head roughly 23 times since season 12's beginning. Enough for Dean to even mention it on screen. That giant boy needs an ice pack and a CAT scan I feel like.
Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel (2021)
YouTubers that fancy themselves detectives
This documentary should have been an hour long look into an unfortunate case of a mentally ill girl who met a tragic end...but, because these YouTube "sleuths" felt there was more than meets the eye, they A) Overwelmed and disrupted a police investigation and B) ruined some poor musician's life because he made metal music and stayed in the same place as the girl... regardless of the evidence showing his innocence. This proves 1 thing and 1 thing alone: certain social media users and particularly the YouTube personalities in this who think themselves smarter or above the law never cease to make themselves feel more important by trying to accomplish a job none of them are qualified or intelligent enough to do. I hope the people whose videos were shown look back on this documentary and see themselves for the fools they are. Netflix, stop catering to these morons by giving them MORE attention.
