MA 2412: Freud (2000)
Season 2, Episode 1
10/10
Psychological supervision
10 August 2014
Warning: Spoilers
In this episode Breitfuß and Weber are confronted with a by their boss prescribed psychological supervision. As you might already expected, this plan doesn't work. Their psychologist Mr. Neumann (Michael Niavarani) is especially irritated by Mr. Claus. As Mr. Claus is Santa Claus, Mr. Neumann fails completely. Breitfuß is faced with topics like why he now builds his small model cars only at the office. In contrast, Mr. Weber is a much more difficult target for Neumanns questions by not giving any serious response. Mrs. Knackal leaves the office as she's told to not even talk to the psychologist by the boss in order to prevent giving out a lot of secrets especially about him and her. This all ends in a perfect chaos for Mr. Neumann. Michael Niavariani performs almost perfect as psychologist full of panic. The main MA 2412 cast supporting him is great as in every other episode of this unfortunately very little known TV series.

Armour of God (1986)
6/10
(just) another Jackie Chan movie...
18 June 2013
At first I have to mention that this movie isn't as spectacular as the title sounds like. But - and this is the point - as almost all Chan movies has its own special spirit. Just thinking about Jackie doing all the stunts by himself as usual, creates something like suspense. Though everyone knows, Jackie would even get hurt seriously, fascination arouses in every scene of fighting versus the bad guys. A negative thing only affecting the German version: Not all dialogs got translated. So you have to be content with some suddenly appearing original with German subtitles...

This results in 6/10 points: A nice movie to watch in the background, e.g. after a hard day.

Torn Curtain (1966)
6/10
a good history illuminating movie, but just a little bit of suspense
17 June 2013
"The Torn Curtain" just was a good movie. The superior "Psycho", "Vertigo" or "Rear Window" this work has to be compared to cannot be reached by far. Nevertheless, there's entertainment throughout the two hours completely. You can't point out special weak points. The special or even unique is missing in one of the last movies of "The Master of Suspense". You just won't find scenes of simpleness evoking such incredible suspense. Paul Newman isn't able to shown his talent of acting. In later (e.g. "The Color of Money") and in previous roles (e.g. "Hustler") Newman shows much more of his acting skills. Newman and Hitchcock seem to be not that perfect team to arouse suspicion. In contrast, now a few positive points: The entire cast blends very well. The acting always feels natural and of one piece. No jumping from one scene to another without smooth plot transition.

In conclusion, you can say that "Torn Curtain" is a quite watchable film. Nor a must-see, but without using too excessive exaggeration or rating Alfred Hitchcock made some other kind of movie. Just a little bit of suspense combined with some history if you watch it today, almost half a century after its release.

-> 6/10 with a slight upward trend, but no chance to get a seven...
