Hilda and the Mountain King (2021)
An enjoyable adventure from beginning to end
Hilda and The Mountain King was a movie that I was really looking forward to because Hilda is one of my all time favorite animated series and it's definitely one that has had a huge impact on me as a person. From the first frame of the movie, you can definitely tell that they took full advantage of the fact that this is a film. With it being Hilda, it ended up having a lot of heartfelt moments and also had a lot of funny moments. I knew that it was gonna be worth the wait but this movie was so good that I ended up watching it twice on the day it came out and I've rarely rewatched a movie in the same day that I watched something. Sure I've rewatched a movie later on down the road but this was the first time that I rewatched a movie in the span of 24 hours and it is so worth it since there's never a dull moment through the 87 minute runtime.
Max Payne (2001)
A Timeless Classic
The fact that Max Payne came out in 2001 is one of those facts that is always.never going to sink in for me but it's one of my favorite games of all time and a game that I always find myself playing every now and then.
Dear Evan Hansen (2021)
Wow
I just got out of seeing Dear Evan Hansen. Oh wow I knew that would be a good movie but damn this movie hit really close to home for me. While I've never dealt with thoughts of suicide, I have dealt with depression but I've also dealt with social anxiety for most of my life and Dear Evan Hansen really brought back some memories for me since I feel like my anxiety really started getting serious when I was in Grade 9. I never felt like committing suicide but there have been times where I'm just feeling depressed and didn't know what I was going to do but I always keep moving forward and remember to focus on the future.
In the Heights (2021)
Wow What A Movie
In The Heights was a movie that I was really looking forward to and it was the perfect movie to get me to return to the movies.
Amphibia: True Colors (2021)
Wow
I knew that this season finale was going to be an intense episode but oh my god this may be one of the best episodes of the whole series and definitely has an ending that will stick with you for a while because it's definitely something.
Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Candace Against the Universe (2020)
Worth the wait
Phineas and Ferb The Movie: Candace Against The Universe was a movie that I was really looking forward to and without getting into spoilers, it ended up delivering and hit me in the right spot emotionally
The Owl House: Enchanting Grom Fright (2020)
Wow
This was an episode that I was really looking forward to and it delivered on every expectation and then some. This is gonna end up being a lot of people's favorite episode and I wouldn't blame them if that's the case
Hamilton (2020)
Wow
This was really good and it met my expectations then exceeded them
Mr. Robot: Hello, Elliot (2019)
Wow What an ending
Okay so I wasn't expecting for the ending of Mr Robot to be an uplifting ending because this show loves to misdirect the audience and make us question what we're seeing but I also didn't expect for the ending of Mr Robot to make me cry
Knives Out (2019)
A Whodunit Masterpiece, Agatha Christie would be proud
Okay Knives Out was one of my most anticipated movies of December because of the following reasons
1. The Cast for Knives Out is simply incredible because you have so many recognizable names
2. It's a Murder Mystery Whodunit
3. I love Mysteries
Without getting into spoilers, I'll just say that Knives Out is not just one of the best movies of 2019 but it may even be one of my favorite movies of the past decade because I came into it expecting a fun murder mystery whodunit comedy but what I wasn't expecting was the amount of social commentary that it has about the world we live and it has easily one of the best closing shots I've seen in a movie that just leaves you feeling absolutely breathless. It's also an incredibly funny and well written movie that I'll have to watch again because I'm certain there had to be lines I missed
The Good Liar (2019)
An Elegant and Highly Intense Thriller
Okay The Good Liar is a 2019 Thriller that stars Helen Mirren and Ian Mckellen directed by Bill Condon. I didn't know anything else other than that and my god I'm glad that I went in cold because this movie was an absolute pleasure to watch these two talented actors in a game of deception and after seeing it, I want Helen Mirren to play a bond villainess because she gets downright terrifying in this
Prodigal Son (2019)
A Psychological Thrill Ride
Progidal Son is one of the new shows that came out in the fall and its quickly becoming one of my favorite shows on TV because of the fantastic performances from Tom Payne and Michael Sheen who make what might have been your standard procedural drama into something truly special
Mr. Robot: 409 Conflict (2019)
Wow
This show keeps surprising me at every turn by keeping me on the edge of my seat because Mr Robot never has a dull moment since every detail in the scenes. I found the ending to be absolutely disturbing with the death of one of my favorite characters but man Phillip went out in the best possible way. Only 3 episodes but I'm excited to see how this masterpiece of a show comes to an end.
Velvet Buzzsaw (2019)
WTF Masterpiece
WTF is this movie, Velvet Buzzsaw is a movie that I was looking forward to since it's a movie from Dan Gilroy who directed one of my favorite movies of 2014 Nightcrawler which was a dark look at the news and the society that we live in and featured fantastic performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo so when I heard that Gilroy was going to be reteaming with both of them, I was on board and this movie did not disappoint. It's a very interesting look at the world of art and it ended up being a dark horror movie with some very interesting kills including an ending that gets truly bizarre. Gyllenhaal and Russo give really fantastic performances but my god Toni Collette steals the movie with a performance that is so amazing and the last scene with her is perfect and definitely a moment that made me jump.
Black Mirror: Bandersnatch (2018)
Wow
Okay Black Mirror: Bandersnitch was my first introduction into the world of Black Mirror. This is a show that I've always been interested in watching so when I heard that Netflix was going to have an interactive episode of the show, I decided to watch it this afternoon and all I can say is that this was a really good episode of Black Mirror with some great performances and a lot of twists that I didn't see coming. There was an intersection that got surprisingly meta and I could understand how some could see it as forced or contrived but I found it to be utterly hilarious. If this is what Interactive shows can be like on Netflix then I'm definitely on board for this because it was a worth while experiment and one that I'll revisit to see the other outcomes.
Coco (2017)
An Emotional and Musical Journey
Okay so I know that I'm late to the party in seeing Coco but I felt like today was appropriate to watch on one of the days of the dead. I had heard many people saying that this was an emotional movie so I was expecting for it to be one scene that would cause me to get emotional but wow there were a lot of scenes in this movie that had me crying particularly the song Remember Me. This was also a very funny movie and one that is absolutely beautiful with some fantastic music. I'd definitely watch this again but I'd make sure to have a box of tissues handy
Blood Fest (2018)
A Fun Blood Soaked Ride
Last night I got to see the newest movie from Rooster Teeth and well I must say Blood Fest was certainly an interesting movie and I enjoyed every minute of it. Yeah it pokes fun at the tropes of Horror movies but it's also a loving tribute to the tropes of Horror movies
