South Park (Not Suitable for Children) (2023)
Best episode in years
From the social commentary of modern times, to subverting what your expectations are and going completely beyond the normal scope of even South Park.
Almost every aspect of this episode has the hallmarks of a great south park episode.
My young niece was obsessed with "Prime" this Christmas the soft drink that this episode untimely is about. An episode comply grounding in the moment.
Then also going as far as parodying Only Fans. Geniusly making Randy Marsh the centre of this arc.
It just works in a perfect whole that other recent south park epsiodes don't.
And then even going as far as joking about the illuminati and powers that be that allows this stuff in our society. It's a no hoild bared episode of south park that I'm sure will stand the testament of time.
Lords of the Lockerroom (1999)
Matthew Moore Magnum Opus
"Lords of the Lockerroom" is a cinematic opus that transcends the boundaries of conventional storytelling, offering a visceral exploration of the human condition through the lens of athletic prowess. Directorial virtuoso, Matthew Moore, orchestrates a symphony of raw emotion, athleticism, and existentialism, weaving a tapestry of metaphorical significance that challenges the very fabric of societal norms.
The film's narrative dances on the edge of the sublime, delving into the enigmatic lives of its characters whose struggles mirror the existential angst of our contemporary existence. The locker room becomes a metaphysical battleground, where the clash of egos mirrors the broader societal struggles, transforming the mundane into the profound.
The cinematography is a visual tour de force, capturing the essence of the human form in motion with a poetic precision that elevates each frame to the realm of high art. The juxtaposition of light and shadow mirrors the duality of the human soul, while the use of symbolism adds layers of meaning that demand repeated viewings for full appreciation.
The performances by the ensemble cast are nothing short of transcendent. Each actor embodies their character with a commitment that borders on the divine, infusing the film with a rare authenticity. The dialogue, laced with philosophical undertones, serves as a vehicle for existential introspection, challenging the audience to confront their own assumptions about identity, competition, and the pursuit of excellence.
The score, a haunting composition that flits between the ethereal and the primal, enhances the emotional resonance of each scene. The sound design, meticulous in its attention to detail, immerses the audience in the sensory experience of the locker room, creating an almost synesthetic connection between the viewers and the on-screen drama.
"Lords of the Lockerroom" is not merely a film; it is a transcendent journey into the very heart of the human experience. Its narrative complexity, visual poetry, and philosophical depth demand intellectual engagement, offering a cinematic experience that lingers in the mind long after the credits roll. In a landscape oversaturated with mediocrity, this magnum opus stands as a testament to the transformative power of cinema, inviting viewers to question, reflect, and ultimately transcend the confines of the ordinary.
Outlast (2023)
I enjoyed I. Probably the darkest look at humanity.
I really enjoyed the show. People mad here are maybe mad at the producers for letting bullying behaviour. They're maybe mad at the betrayals. This show might be the rawest look at what humans will do to survive or at least win 1 mil dollars.
For instance the winning team happily took on a man who betrayed his own team, but the line was draw because he also sabotaged them...
That team he betrayed were cut throat and stole things from other teams but they were happy to accept him anyways. What I'm getting at is the blurrys line exposed in this show are fascinating.
A man is left completely alone despite probably being the most capable survivalist, because folk wanted a bigger share of the money.
One lass did survive a day because they drank the wrong water.
It's an absolutely fascinating look at humanity and I couldn't believe from episode to episode what was happening. Although I should've because somehwere in us we know we're capable of the same betrayals and hijinx.
Remember the most bloody and violent societies known are tribal society competing against one another and that became reflected in this show .
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
My favourite movie I've watch in a cinema on release
The best place for this movie is the big screen, action, sound and visuals are all outstanding. The pacing and moments are memorable. It takes a breather to build some characters and then flys you off on the next part of the adventure. Sure the female characters and other minor characters have probably been neglected here but the focus on goose and maverick was pivotal to the success.
Maybe this film doesn't translate as well to the small screen I wouldn't know.
They really don't make these blockbuster action popcorn movies like this anymore. A homage to the 80's movies and shows massive respect to the first top gun.
Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab (2022)
The heaviest handed exposition in the world
Well ok the episode was better than average stranger things episode, but the amount of time spent on idea's already done, and the revelation towards the end of the episode was just cringe. Maybe if I cared about 11 character more then i would have liked it but, Hopper, Max, and Mike & Co really are neglected for not alot of story.
The Witcher (2019)
Great adaption
First season was okay, it wasn't great but it was a bit muddled, confusding and unbalaced but faithful adaption
Second season is basically a knock out. It's ironed out alot of the bad and kept the faifulness. My favorite series on streaming at the minute. It's funny how close to the wheel of time came out to this because it completely demolishes that other series.
Ted Lasso: Beard After Hours (2021)
I liked the episode but was a crazy change of pace for the series
Personally I liked it. But it doesn't really fit into the series as a whole.
Coach beard was lacking screen time over the 2 seasons and this more than makes up for it.
But the way it was shot and the fact it had almost none of the other main cast members just makes it a strange episode and why some people didn't like it.
Mr. Robot: eps3.5_kill-pr0cess.inc (2017)
Amazing
Started with me nearly crying, kept me absolutely hooked for 40 minutes and ended with me gob smacked. That's the best tv program ie ever watched.
Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)
Written by 10 year old fan fiction enthusiast
This was nothing short of the worst ending to a TV show ever. All That hard work undone by 3 really meh seasons and a really terrible conclusion
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
8 years a game of thrones fan first time I've felt compelled to give a bad review
I've know the show has become a bit of a fan fiction since season 6 with the show taking its own path with storytelling but this episode might as well be a totally different show to the one that began in 2011. It's unrecognisable to me now. I still love the spectacle but there's no logic or method to there ideas. it's just a bunch of 'that'll be Cool' and tropes linked together by callbacks and funny one liners. At least half of my interest in the show was always the fantasy elements.
