Grimm (2011–2017)

Great concept, lousy storyline
8 December 2011
I love the idea of fairy tales gone awry. Research shows that most of the fairy tales written in the last couple of centuries weren't so "fairy" to begin with. The Brothers Grimm stories are amazing, I have the complete collection. So when I heard they were making a show based on this, I was excited. But then after watching I was disappointed. I've really tried but I can't get through the second episode. It is so bad I feel sorry for the poor cast! The plot is terribly weak. This show definitely needs better writers. I was actually going to rate this as one, but out of loyalty to Grimm stories, it has earned an extra point.

You can tell the show has a big budget so invest in some worthwhile writers goddammit. What makes a successful show? It should be obvious. Witty banter (no. 1 in my book), brilliant rapport and at least some chemistry among the characters. Skip this catastrophe. It's almost as bad as ABC's "Once Upon a Time". Stop with the crappy shows already.

When did racism become humor and how come I never got the memo?
4 December 2011
As a woman of color and not raised in Western society, I find their racist humor very offensive. When the show started, I thought, fun show with witty humor and I liked the concept of it especially being in Grad school and also kinda nerdy myself. But some of the jokes are way over the top. I have a sense of humor and I appreciate a good laugh every now and then but their constant racist humor? Really? I don't get it. As much as people keep saying get over it, it's just a joke, it doesn't make it any less offensive. Other than that, the idea of a sitcom based around people who are not obsessed with fashion, being stick thin or pop culture is an A+ in my book. It's different, I like it. But they lost me with their third world and Asian jokes. Not cool!

Humanity is a disgrace but we have hope

If you haven't watched this documentary, what are you waiting for? We watch this every year at school and this year, we get to meet the director. My view of why people hate totally changed after watching this movie. As a woman of colour, I started seeing hateful people differently and they no longer make me angry, I just feel sorry for them. They don't know any better so they are threatened. The portrayal of hatred in this film is near perfect. The personification of this issue and looking into the eyes of these people really put the point across. I am looking forward to any future projects Mike Ramsdell has in store. The Anatomy of Hate is a masterpiece.

You Again (2010)

You again? Oh no!

The storyline was weak! The plot didn't build up well and the climax was very disappointing. Everything felt forced and there was no chemistry among the cast. I thought I'd get into it because I was in the mood for some light humor and some romance after a long day at the office. But unfortunately, the laughs fell flat and the romance hit the wall. Kristen Bell needs emergency acting lessons. Fast! Her nonchalant persona totally killed it for me. Aside from Burlesque, I don't think I am a fan of any of her work. Odette's performance was lacking as well. I don't know what was worse, the acting or the plot. I couldn't decide. Skip this epic failure! Waste of two hours of my life that I'll never get back.
