Adipurush (2023)
Well made movie will appeal to younger generation
I watched this because I was adamant I would not be a sheep and be put off by the loudest voices criticising the movie... and so glad I watched it. My two kids loved it and are now interested in reading the Ramayan, that alone is a massive tick in the box from me. The effects were great, such a good modern spin on the Ramayan. Didn't bother me in the least bit that it may not have been 100% accurate, what appealed to me was that it was refreshing, enjoyable, and fun for the kids.
Do yourself a favour and check it out yourself, don't listen to the big mouths who are bagging the film. It's good!

Fabulous effort
The sheer audacity to attempt a remake of a cinematic masterpiece. Just the attempt is worthy of high praise. But the real achievement is in the execution. An appreciation of the skill and immense effort to pull off such a wonderful movie will be beyond the comprehension of the average freshy Indian film fanatic.... such people only appreciate the tiresome old formula of cheesy songs, cheesy acting and a storyline so basic it would be more suited to an episode of Peppa Pig. What AK has done with LSC is phenomenal. To take a classic such as Forrest Gump and reinvent it and make it seem like a completely new movie, is just amazing. The story has the right mix of laughs and stirring emotion. You feel for the character of LSC, you relate to his feelings. It's been done so well. It could potentially have been a little shorter but that would be my only criticism.
The music is appropriate and catchy, the acting is excellent and the end-result a definite success. Whether or not this translates in the domestic box office is questionable, sadly Indian audiences are more interested in politics and religion rather than enjoying a movie for what it is intended to be.... Entertainment. Having just watched this in an almost sold out screening in a regional Australian city, I'm sure that international box office takings will make up for the likely (pathetic) politically or religious motivated performance in Indian theatres.

Too many songs and probably 45 min too long
Firstly the positives - Sanjay Dutt was a brilliant villain, great acting by him. Some of the locations were stunning, great to see on the big screen. Ranbir also acted well in what was a different type of role for him. On the whole, CGI/special effects were used well and enhanced the movie rather than becoming the focal point as used to be the case in Indian cinema.
The negatives - there were too many songs that added very little, in fact they disrupted the story which was already struggling a little to be told. The plot had all the makings of a good movie but sadly the film seemed to dance around the periphery of the story rather than take a firm hold and tell it in an engaging manner. Some elements were far fetched (the train scene for example)
It ended up being an ok watch, nothing memorable, but also not the worst movie I've ever seen. Just feel it was a lost opportunity to have done something that could have been excellent.

Nonsense
Genuinely stunned that Amitabh signed up to this trash. Such rubbish. Story started promisingly but rapidly fell into a pile of unbelievable, overacted and over scripted crap. Don't bother wasting your time. Anyone rating this 9 or 10 is obviously being paid to do so.

Sadly, this was pathetic
One thing ruined this movie, the overacting. Sadly, the most genuine acting on display was from the elephants themselves. There was a potentially good movie that could have been crafted from the storyline, however Rana Daggubati was more 'Bandar' than Bandev, jumping on furniture like a crazy monkey, moving his head around in an exaggerated impression of an inquisitive owl. The role of Shankar was also way over-the-top, a South Indian Pied Piper of Elephants, he spent most of the film drunk in love with a terrorist who would rather he was dead.... it was highly unlikely it would ever happen, and became even less likely after she was murdered by a policeman of all people..... yes, strange things happen in the forest. I was looking forward to this movie but left feeling very underwhelmed.
Roohi (2021)
Lots of laughs and great fun!
You can't go into a comedy-horror expecting an amazing storyline, but Roohi delivered perfectly in both horror and comedy. A wonderful balance of hilarious comedy, well-timed shocks and a story that did enough to keep me more than interested. The two male leads were exceptional and stole the show, while Janvhi had minimal lines to really make any impact other than being scary... she played that role to perfection.
Overall it was fantastic fun and the entire audience laughed out loud at multiple moments. Very much enjoyed, more than I expected if I'm honest.
