American Masters: Lucille Ball: Finding Lucy (2000)
A new look at our old flame
This documentary takes a look at the life and times of Lucille Ball. A movie and television icon to say the least. We get to see things that we never knew and never wanted to know about our favorite red-head.
Some of the real down and dirty facts about Lucy are left out, but it is still very factual. From start to finish this one is sad, funny, and sweet. A real tear jerker in fact. A must see for all Lucy fans everywhere.
Shallow Hal (2001)
One Fat Joke After Another
I think this movie was degrading to humans everywhere!
The only kind of person that is going to find this movie remotely funny are those that think that fat jokes deserve a chuckle. I, personally, do not think that being overweight is something to laugh at. The movie writers seemed to have tried to use every fat joke they could find and it get really tiresome.
In reality, the only thing funny about this movie was the plot. Let's get a little deeper into the realities of life shall we? What are we teaching our young people with this movie? That fat people and fat jokes are funny. That overweight people are not really attractive unless we are talking about "inner beauty". Well, let's face it, that is a cruel reality of humanity I guess.
In protest, let's think about the social implications of the films that we let our children and young adults watch shall we?
Larger Than Life (1996)
CUTE CUTE CUTE
This movie has several things going for it. The writing is wonderful, the plot is wonderful, the acting is wonderful. And who ever trained the elephant has to be commended. VERA can do anything. This is also a great film for kids. Also, don't miss Tip Tucker, what a riot.
The Day of the Dolphin (1973)
THIS WAS A SLEEPER
well, I just got through watching this one. I have to say that this movie has to be one of the most boring movies I have ever seen. The plot moves badly and the acting is just...well...bad. Don't waste your time with this one folks.
Teenage Caveman (1958)
Not as bad as it sounds
I thought this film was actually pretty good. The writing is done well. It is very "B" rated, but don't let that tell you all about this film. The plot twists and turns and you will think you have the hang of it, then you won't. Please, take the time to see this, you may like it.
