Black Bird (2022)
It was okay but it has been done before and the end seemed rush.
I understand it's based on real events and maybe they stayed true to the story. I never trust Americans production to tell the truth since American directors believe Americans get bored easily. The ending was disappointing and seemed rushed. Maybe Ray Lotta dying messed up the schedule. If it had been a fictional story, they could have both protagonists try to elicit a confession out of each other. One of the protagonists wouldn't even realize that he had murdered someone. And the one character could have been burying the bodies in graveyards where the police wouldn't realize too look. . In the end they would both be found to be insane. Something with a twist would have been more entertaining. FYI, He saw the police files on the cases and in the end knew stuff only the police knew? DUH! The character just could have lied to get out of prison. Really poorly thought out.
Greg the Bunny (2002)
Too sophisticated for the American public
The double entendres was too much for many of the American public who later became Trump supporters. One of the funniest shows of the decade but again, the Christian Right just couldn't understand that it was a comedy. They saw the fabricated characters as a threat to the country and thought they were illegal aliens who snuck across the border in clothing boxes. The trump public likes Tim Allen shows that have some crazy moral in the end.
Nomadland (2020)
Bad script good acting
You have a character that is broke and the movie really never explains why. Her husband would have had a union job at 3M, they didn't have kids. She was a substitute teacher without a degree? Where did all the money go. She meets with her sister who says she is an adventurer, yet she lived in the same town for 25 plus years in the same house. Maybe instead of trying to make her look like a saint, they should have studied someone who is self centered and never saved for the future. Or just blame 3M, which is the lazy way out.
Trainwreck (2015)
Chick Flick
From the commericals it looked like a non stop comedy. Instead it was slow, using a tired formula of girl gets guy, girl loses guy and girl gets guy back. I expected better of Amy, this was a real sell out. The distance between the punch lines caused the movie to drag on and on and on, etc. A little about the movie characters, they aren't common people, she used a sports medicine doctor, giving the script a chance to include a few star athletic. She is a writer for a major magazine. Maybe she thinks common people like a fast food worker and taxi driver would be boring. Her show on television moves quickly, why she didn't write the script that way is a mystery to me. The overall acting is good, but this movie is what you would wait to show up on HBO or Showtime. There are some good lines in the movie but not enough to call it a comedy. Maybe next time she will come up with something better.
The Guilt Trip (2012)
Guilt sucks
The only ones who are going to feel guilty in this movie are the ones who financed this picture. It's not sure if it wants to be funny or a drama. Woody Allen's film Annie Hall changed the landscape of comedy movie making by stretching out the time between punch lines. Even the toilet joke was just lame. It makes me wonder if Barbara even read the script before she accepted.Seth will do anything for a buck. This goes back to the school of SNL comedy which is to take a one line joke and stretch it out to 90 minutes. The blame should rest with the writers who think a "moral of the story" is the only thing that counts. This movie sucks like identity thief.
