The Visual Bible: Matthew (1993)
The greatest Jesus movie I have ever seen.
Yes, Christ was probably somebody like this movie shows.
Loving people, loving life, very accessible, feeling sorry
for the people when when criticizing them. Word by word,
the Gospel of Matthew. I would be very pleased to see the
other Gospels from these film makers and actors. I hope, they will make them. It is also a great idea that the name of the actor who is playing Jesus is not shown anywhere. Even International Movie Database does not show that. I had to search the internet to find the actor's name out.
The Visual Bible: The Gospel of John (2003)
Incorrect Bible text and dramaturgy
It has been claimed that the literal Bible tax was used. Apparently this is not true. For example, when Jesus is captured, the narrator says and the movie shows that Roman and Jewish soldiers come and arrest Jesus. I have checked three different Bible versions and Roman soldiers were not mentioned at all. Brainwash is bad.
Compared to Zeffirelli's Jesus of Nazareth, the acting and the direction is amateurish and the movie was apparently made as a cheap one. So, the 40 dollars price is too high.
I am still glad that I purchased the movie because it by-and-large follows the text of The Gospel of John. It shows only a few Israeli soldiers and many Romans and distort the text accordingly, but the value of following the Gospel compensates for that. And I can tell to my children where the brainwash is.
