Janis et John (2003)
Funny, moving and intelligent
25 November 2003 - 15 out of 16 users found this review helpful.
In deep monetary trouble, a man must convince an old friend - an ex-LSD addict who believes he met Janis Joplin and John Lennon in the 70s - that his idols have come to visit him to make one last album, for which they will need money.
A highly intelligent script that is extremely well acted and both funny and moving at the same time. The fact that this was Marie Trintignant's last film makes it all the more moving as most of the storyline focuses on her character's transformation from meek housewife to all singing, Janis Joplin impersonating sensation. The performance is among her best and you almost forget that you are watching her play a role. This film is a must-see! I really hope it is released in England too!
