Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer (2023)
Dave has outdone himself
Dave Chapelle's The Dreamer shys away from no one and nothing. Dave holds us in the palm of his hand and shows us what's on his mind and with such finesse and compassion I was actually surprised.
Dave took the time to really make his points and deliver them with thoughtfulness and also truth.
Dave is a stand up comedian. People pay to see him. Don't like what he has to say? Don't buy a ticket or teun on his special. It's that simple.
Comedians aren't supposed to be pc.
None of the great comedians have ever been pc, just truthful with compassion.
I highly recommend all of Dave Chapelle's stand up specials.
Louis C.K.: Sorry (2021)
Not this Gal
He's not sorry
He's not a good person
He was one of the voices of sanity pointing people to being better JUST like Cosby. They violated many woman's lives and got a slap on the wrist and just keep on truckin.
If any leaning on how to do better and helping others to see how to behave with pants on would jwdve been a great step in the right direction.
He is preety much defending himself these days by saying
.. Who knew???
Ohhh you "asked" of it was OK and he has daughters.
It'll be interesting to see how he feels when it's HIS daughters put in situations by bad people and then act like... They said OK....
Jim Gaffigan: Dark Pale (2023)
As always Jim is a National Treasure
Jim Gaffagin stand up comedy specials are all outstanding and this one is no exception!
So many of the post covid first stand up comedy specials have been lack luster except Chris Rock's post covid special also rocked me hard with laughter.
I highly recommend all of Jim's specials. He is a clean comic, but I never even think of that while laughing with the audience.
Jim's wife is his co-writer and that makes his comedy even more interesting and funny!
Jim has 5 children and a dog in a New York apartment. If that doesn't give you material, nothing will.
Jim travels the globe with all of his children and he enjoys his family.
Not relavant to the review but I needed to say more to submit this review.
Confessions of Crime (1991)
These are real crimes...
I watch true crime daily and this show is not up my alley.
It's from 1991 so that's part of the quality production and breathy host.
Spoilers ahead be warned..
There are all different types of crimes being explained.
The one with the special needs boy and living on the school bus is particularly devistating because these people have zero remorse or insight.
It's not a bad show, just badly done.
The amount of shows and quality sadly hasn't gotten much better a lot of times.
At least this one does have the real people and their explanations.
It's hard to watch them not be challenged on any of their statements.
Casey Anthony: Where the Truth Lies (2022)
The truth has a ring to it and this isn't it...
We will never know what happened to sweet Caylee.
We also will keep being fed the same mistruths from her mother.
Crying without any redness in the eyes or nose is not real tears.
Casey was living off her grandfather's account for his assisted living for two years.
She didn't have a job for the entirety of Calyee's life.
Cindy was in the process of taking Caylee away so this whole thing happened.
The only person proved to be lying is her mother.
Casey's parents allowed lies to live open in their home because of Casey's behavior. Sadly this is the result.
Watching Casey talk with her parents while in prison only kept saying get me out of here.
Nothing ever about being accountable for her actions and it still holds true.
We are to see things only thru her eyes, just like her parents were forced to do.
My Daughter's Killer (2022)
A must see for all
Not since the documentary Who Took Johnny have I seen a documentary where the child was taken from the wrong parent.
At what lengths would you stop to get justice for your child's life and safety being destroyed and completely covered up over and over again????
I am soo grateful for this documentary, flawed as it may be.
May his daughter truly know how long and hard her father fought to bring this monster to justice.
The Black Phone (2021)
Thank you
This movie is made by Stephen King:s son and he did his dad proud.
Anything that mentions or nods at Johnny Gosh disappearance is gold in my book.
More people need to be aware of how kids keep being taken.
John and the Hole (2021)
A different take on this movie
Powerlessness and obsession are John's driving forces.
Seems to me this movie is a young man taking what he wants including his sister.
The ending is alluding John took advantage of her kindness twords him while she was knocked out.
The family refused to deal with what all he did so they made things as normal as possible ignoring John's needs once again.
The ending is his sister with John's child becoming same age as John was when it all happened.
A second viewing confirms these theories.
It's supposed to fill in the story with the silences but they were too silent....
Pete Lee: Tall, Dark and Pleasant (2021)
I laughed harder than I ever have
The other 10 star review said it all but Pete Lee deserves more reviews.
Fantastic story telling and I'd like to see more specials by him 😂
Wisconsin should be proud.
Chad Daniels: As Is (2012)
In your face comedy
He pulls no punches and calls it as he see it.
I laughed HARD and it takes a lot vto make me laugh out loud.
If someone is sensitive, this is not the stand up for them.
The Night House (2020)
There quarters of a movie
They were soo busy trying to keep the viewer off their game they forgot to include a full fledged story. Let's of new ways of handling a ghost movie. Could have been epic.
Chris Porter: A Man from Kansas (2019)
If you want to hear the D word every sentence
Really funny guy. Too bad he decided to use the word d**k every other sentence
Felt like I was on a really bad date...
Some of his Joe's were really funny, but it kept getting worse.
Who Took Johnny (2014)
A must Watch
This documentary took 10 years to confirm all the facts stated.
The twists and turns that could not be fully substantiated are in a radio interview with the mom. If your interested in the rest of the story check that out after watching this on you tube.
This mom needs to be commended for standing up to literally everyone in her search for her son.
The Endless Honeymoon Podcast (2019)
This podcast is the BEST
A fun conversation with incredibly helpful information is what this podcast is all about. Fantastic comedians sharing personal info along with people who call in and get advocie and some laughs.
This is my favorite podcast of all time. Saw Mosha on Myam Bialik podcast Breakdown and soo glad I checked Endless Honeymoon out!
Sex Life (2019)
Fantastic!!
Different types of joyous srx are explored and totally enjoyed watching.
Not for people who are afraid.
I loved how much respect each topic was given.
Well done and everything consensual.
The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000)
Bhagavad Gita
This movie is made from a book by the same name. The book and movie are about non attachment to the outcomes of our efforts.
Bhagavad Gita references God, played by Will Smith.
I truly enjoyed this films message.
Into the Dark: The Body (2018)
Best of Into the Dark series
This one has cheeky humor and dark humor as well.
The other good ones in this series are... Uncannie Annie and School Spirit.
Yearly Departed (2020)
Gotta have a sense of humor
A female mainly black cast of comedians is definitely not for everybody. I laughed hard and found myself head nodding and smiling along w them.
If you can, take a watch and enjoy.
Iris (2014)
One of a kind fashion icon
Probably only interesting to those obsessed w fashion and art.
Iris is a self taught, hard working fashion one of a kind.
Bill Cunningham and Iris demonstrate all that's amazing in clothing art 🎨
Such a young hearted and hard working one of a kind.
The Family I Had (2017)
A different take
Can't escape DNA.
Paris's grandma killed grandpa.
Paris's dad was schizophrenic.
His mom had battles with drugs.
I see some reviews blaming this mom. I give her props for her never giving up on doing her best for her children.
Paris's grandma poisoned him against his mom, her daughter in my opinion. Paris's young aunt was frightened of him. His entire family knew he had issues and the therapist said he was homicidal.
It's unfathomable for parents to believe their child has a murderous heart.
Any mistakes his mother made, she has done all she can for her son.
They did a good job in this documentary of everyone's worst nightmare.
Ghost Stories (2017)
Reminds me of another movie
Reminds me of the movie Stay told with a different format. I enjoyed Stay a bit more. This could have been better with better editing.
Nina Forever (2015)
The actress that plays Nina is the reason to watch
Not well done but visually interesting and the actress that plays Nina steals the movie!
American Murder: The Family Next Door (2020)
Doesn't beat you over the head
The victims family helped with footage for this documentary. They stay as respectful as possible while giving the bones of what happened. Interrogation footage before arrest and interview after in prison help give details omitted on you tube.
This case has more twists and trims than a movie and ten times as heartbreaking.
Ratched (2020)
Visually stunning and well acted
Female antagonist is not your usual fare especially when willing to do anything necessary.
I believe Heath Ledger would be proud of Sarah Polson's performance.
Finding a balance with the macabre with a touch of humor is not easily accomplished.
Bravo! Excited for season 2!
The Midnight Gospel (2020)
How open I your mind???
Great series on how to open out thoughts and have more acceptance.
Watchung Duncan Trussell on Joe Rogan sent me to watch this and so glad it did. First and last episodes are my personal favorites 💞
