Ted Lasso (2020–2023)
5/10
VERY overrated
7 October 2021
Ted Lasso is alright. It's a decent tv series, but how the hell has it won awards? Mind boggling. It's got great characters and moments but it's way too cheesy, oversentimental and dramatic.

The worst part is when they try to get it to become serious and dark. You can't take it seriously because they are all clowns. You can't drink beer and eat cake. It's just an emotional mess.

I also feel like it's already becoming worse and worse, like they've already run out of ideas.

Seinfeld (1989–1998)
10/10
Best TV series/show of all time
25 October 2020
TV series'/shows are very hard to evaluate. Especially comedies. It's very subjective and there are many factors to account for.

How accessible is it? Is it rewatchable? Is it HAHA funny or just hehe funny? Sophisticated or immature? Artistic or simplistic? Does it stand the test of time? And what about continuity? Etc.

The one show that ticks every box and is generally the best in every aspect, in my opinion, is Seinfeld.

It started airing in 1989, 2 years prior to my existance. I didn't start watching it until my late teens. I'm working class European, and I've never been to a comedy club or had an answering machine for my home phone. I don't care for baseball and I don't get many of the celebrity references in the show. I've never spent more than 100 dollars on a jacket and I've never been fired from a job. Even though many things they talk about and reference to are dated or from a different culture, I can relate to it and it's all funny.

They have the best characters of any show and the acting is phenomenal. Many people have a problem with Jerry's acting but I don't. It's not bad at all and it serves a purpose. The rest of the actors may carry the show but Jerry is the little centre that makes the rest work. He makes them all tick. He has a great report with the other characters and is simply just right. Even the shows many side characters and guest stars are legendary. Newman, Frank and Estelle, Uncle Leo, Morty and Helen, Jackie Chiles, Soup Nazi, Puddy, Bob Sacamano, Tim Whatley, Joe Davola, Lloyd Braun, Jack Klompus, Kenny Bania, Babu and many, MANY more. And not to mention all the brilliant alter egos.

The show has a perfect balance between sophistication and immaturity. The characters are terrible people whom we can all relate to. The writing is very clever and it almost never slows down or lose it's edge. The show keeps its quality and ingenuity for 9 seasons and don't really run into any problems until they have to find a way to finish the show. Because let's face it, it's a never-ending show about nothing and everything. In that aspect, I think they did a good job with the very criticized final episodes.

All in all it is the most evenly brilliant show ever. I cannot think of another show with the same mass appeal and objective brilliance.

And yes, it is still funny after seeing it over 10 times 30 years later.

Absolute Garbage
4 September 2019
I cannot comprehend why anyone would spend time and money making this. Even less why anyone would pay to see it.

Surprised to see Elba take on a garbage role like this. Even Statham should know better.

Something is very, very off about this
10 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It's in many ways a very good piece of film and art. But in context of real life the movie really misses its mark. It's clearly supposed to tell the ultimate cocaine repleted American tale that turns into a nightmare. It does a good job on the first part. It never shows us the nightmare.

A large portion of the audience will come out of this movie with a new hero and role model. I'm talking about the villain Jordan Belfort. The guy who swindled thousands of people and came off easy because he ratted on his friends. But the tone of the first portion of the story is far too positive. So positive that it becomes offensive. And the second part, well there's barely any negativity. The tone barely drops. It's all just a humoristic capitalist adventure with a bunch of happy bros living the dream with their drugs and hookers. And while Scorsese tries to salvage it all by putting on a nice vague little bowtie of critique towards capitalism at the end, it's too little and too late. The damage is done. This film has already inspired an entire new generation of misogynistic capitalist pigs.

True Detective (2014– )
7/10
There should've never been a second season...
25 April 2017
Absolutely loved the first. It had everything. Perfect story, perfect characters, perfect actors, perfect dialogue, beautiful cinematography, great soundtrack etc. etc. etc.

The 2nd season failed at everything that made the first season great. It was unoriginal, boring, pretentious, filled with clichés, contained some awful dialogue and even worse acting. It desperately tried to package this mafioso soap opera into True Detective with a similar-sounding soundtrack and the same kind of look. There is nothing that suggests that this is the same television show aside from the name and the cheap rip off looks and sounds.

So, is the writer actually just bad? I mean it's the same guy! Was he found out? Maybe! Was the first season a fluke? In my eyes, it was a true work of art. Not just thrown together to milk the cow. It seemed like Nic Pizzolato took whatever time he needed for the show to become what it became. The second season feels like it was thrown together when the writer/producers realized that the first one was a hit.

You can see it on the actors. It went from A-list actors to bottom shelf A-list (maybe even B-list). From McConaughey and Harrelson to Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. You can clearly see that the first pair took the risk of going into television for a reason. Television has never been hot for successful actors. I'm not saying that TD were the first to do this, but they sure as hell kicked off the trend. So why did Matthew and Woody take a chance on this show? Cause it had one hell of a f*cking script, story and idea. Why did the second season attract lesser actors? Because why would any good actors be interested in such a poor script? Who were interested? Lesser actors who wanted to ride the wave.

What else can I say? I am so deeply disappointed even now, a year on and I'm dreading the fact that there is a third season on it's way. How dreadful is that going to be? Are they going for C-list actors this time around? Maybe Jensen Ackles and LL Cool J? Let's face it. It wasn't meant to be. There should've never been a second season. And there sure as hell shouldn't be a third.

I rate the first season a 9/10, the second one a 4/10. So I land on a 7.

Historically correct?
4 January 2015
So many people are upset by this film. The ones upset by the almost-all- Caucasian cast. The Christians who wave their fists since they believe that the storytelling is straying from what actually happened in this 'true story'. Then there's my group, the ones who thought it was just shitty film.

I went to see this film expecting an artistic and "mastodontic"(?) take on the fairytale of Moses. I did get a different take of a fairytale but other than that, it didn't entertain me.

A very dull story to begin with, became even duller. All the 'cool' effects of bombardment, that a large portion of the audience was waiting for, failed to materialize before them. At least in any interesting and dramatic way that we were all imagining. And there may have been great actors and actresses in this film but the script/story didn't really allow them to be interesting or believable, just contrived and shallow.

So even though I do not believe that the original fairytale was anything other than a work of fiction, this didn't work for me either. And the almost-all Caucasian cast didn't really make this laughable film any better. It had two enjoyable scenes in it's entirety.

I apologized to my girlfriend for taking her to see this film.

Disappointed but entertained
30 June 2014
I came into this film with great (but realistic) expectations, 'cause it is after all a sequel. Still this film hit just below the bar I had raised.

First of all, the plot was not as creative and original as the first. Second of all, neither was the dialogue/script. They both lacked depth, proficiency and pioneering. They really had something amazing to build on from the first film and I don't feel that they seized that opportunity.

The jokes weren't as funny, the characters weren't as well written. They just took all the good stuff from the first and added some cheap new characters to complete the cheap plot. And when I say cheap, I just mean they took an easy way out on this one.

And what disappointed me the most was that the emotional depth that blew me away in the first, was gone. All that misery and evil that really made the characters who they were and really made you feel with them, it was just gone.

But it did contain a great amount of laughter. So in the end, you did receive a very entertaining film for the entire family (mostly children on this one), but don't go into this one expecting the copious amount of emotions that you got from the first film. It was the typical automatic sequel.
