Shabe- Bist O Nohom (The 29th Night) is an Iranian horror movie which depicts the tragic marriage of Mohtaram and Haj Esmaal. This movie is considered the first (and probably the best)fully fledged horror in Iran since it masterfully mingles folklore, superstition, and terror. It is best known for its creation of genuine- as opposed to artificial- fear in its audience. It is also famous for its psychological view on human nature and the way that the dark side overcomes the light one, especially in its depiction of the character of Atefeh, the evil woman who horribly haunts Mohtaram's mind. In its creation of a regional thriller that really absorbs the audience, this movies can rival the best horror movies ever produced.
