Chi-raq: Cultural appropriation on film, and a lousy film to begin with
11 December 2015
There is a lot to pick apart here, I could spend a good amount of time discussing why this movie is irritating.

I see a lot of praise from people in the reviews, and that's okay. I get why people would sorta like this, it's a "powerful feminist movie for our time" I see that. Where I cannot jive with this AT ALL is why they took the name Chi-raq. I don't know any people in Chicago who support this movie, the majority think it's goofy and cultural appropriation at it's worst.

The violence problems in Chiraq are not over colors, and women cannot stop it just by "withholding sex". You can say "it's a positive message, it applies to many places". No, not here. Chiraq is a term from that culture, the savages of Chiraq came up with that term when they started breaking homicide records. People there are irritated because Spike Lee heard the name and decided to run with it without doing ANY research into the culture he was completely and utterly misrepresenting. What Spike Lee did it the definition of appropriating, and it's just not right.

Aside from those ethical frustrations, the movie just isn't good. I'm still mind boggled as to why Nick Canon ever got a role in this film. He's not a good actor. The style of Spike Lee's directing has never been a favorite of mine, it's tolerable in here honestly; that was the singularly redeeming aspect of this film. Otherwise, this is a waste of money.

Supernatural: Do You Believe in Miracles (2014)
Season 9, Episode 23

Game Changer
20 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is it family, after a pretty solid season us SN fans have been hoping for a good end and something that would shake things up, and boy did they EVER.

Blown away with how good this episode was, in my opinion it is the best season finale yet. We finally deal with Metatron, but now Cas is in charge? What now? This brings in Gabriel, maybe he could rule since we aren't sure if the last Arch-angel lives or not.

But DEAAAAAANN!!! Can't believe he's a demon now, the whole paradigm shift is INCREDIBLE. From the creature he sought most to kill he has become, and Crowley knew all along! It explains his closeness to Dean now!

I can say I am EXTREMELY excited for Season 10, the writers managed to pull off a big one fam, and boy am I ready for the next season!

Supernatural: King of the Damned (2014)

Best Dean episode yet!
13 May 2014
Awesome episode, this is honestly an episode I've been waiting for since the first time Dean encountered a Demon all the way back in Season 1.

The plot line is great, on one side we have Cas taking the reigns of leadership unwillingly and trying to find a mole in his Angel resistance.

On the other side we have Dean willingly taking on the burden of having the mark and beginning to enjoy his work. I personally love Dean for this gritty type of stuff, he's always been the badass of the show and this is his most badass episode.

Without going into anymore, Dean has The One Blade and goes H.A.M. that is all.

10/10.

The Butler (I) (2013)
3/10
Uninspiring and thoroughly over-hyped.
15 August 2013
For anyone who has seen The Help this is the less elegant version.. Actually this isn't elegant at all, it's just bland and poorly done. Nothing really happens, and even though the tagline is "One quiet voice can ignite a revolution" very little actually happens in the film..

First off Whitaker is thoroughly underwhelming, which is honestly surprising. I often enjoy his films, but he is totally uninspiring in this.

Oprah has gotten a lot of buzz due to her role, many even talking about Oscar noms. Is it that good? No... I must admit I was a little biased coming into this due to her publicity stunt with regards to the whole "Swiss purse" incident.

Jane Fonda, a die-hard liberal in the role of Nancy Reagan would be akin to casting Jon Voight as FDR. In other words, it doesn't make any sense and instead jumps out as an eye sore.

My biggest problem with this film is the lack of any grace. It's just a race guilt tripping wet dream.... The Help was funny, it was touching and the actresses did phenomenal. While watching The Butler I couldn't get past "oh that's Oprah, there's Jane Fonda.."

To close, don't see this. It's boring, it's not entertaining, it doesn't have any memorable performances, many needless guest stars, and of course Oprah. You are much better off renting The Help for a truly enjoyable film where you don't finish the movie feeling uncomfortable for being white.

Never a dull moment with The RZA
2 November 2012
Ever since the release trailer came out I have been DYING to see this movie. No other movie has grabbed my attention like this, I read everything I could find on this movie, watched every clip, viewed pretty close to every picture.

As I sat down to finally see this movie I was like a giddy child about to open up the big present for Christmas. I was greeted with a exclusive look at Django unchained, this made me very happy. Before I go on, I will list the good and the bad.

The Good:

The action - It was legit to say the least. The movie dished out plenty of action and plenty of good action at that.

The acting - Honestly the acting was surprisingly good. Will it win an Oscar? Hell no, but was it good for an action movie? Yes, very.

The soundtrack - This might be the best part of the movie. We get the classic Wu Tang music mixed in with some classic 70s Kung Fu music and some rock.

The characters - Almost every character in this movie was good, there wasn't that one character that annoyed everyone, it was just a solid effort all around.

Russell Crowe - Honestly this was the one element I was nervous about. But honestly Crowe really gave Mr. Knife some life, it was thoroughly enjoyable.

Film length - I can't tell you how many good movies have been ruined by being dragged out for sooo long.

Classic 70s Kung Fu feel - Aaaaaah loved this! It really felt like a classic throwback to some old Kung Fu movies, you can really see Tarantino's influence here.

The bad:

Movie title - Honestly, if you see the movie you will realize why the title does not fit.

Not enough RZA - As the main character I would have loved to see way more RZA kicking butt.

The plot - Was it the greatest? No, it was a little lacking but NOT that big of a drawback.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It sounded AMAZING, looked crisp, had some superb action and was consistent. As RZA's directorial you couldn't ask for much better from the Abbott of the Wu. It brings action, legit characters and RZA kicking butt, what more do you need?

I will definitely recommend this to my friends.

ATM (I) (2012)
1/10
If I go on a serial rampage I want this cited as the cause.
6 April 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Hello, I was recently grabbing money with my friends in an ATM out in the middle of a parking lot and it was really big for an ATM, kind of like a small room.

However we noticed somebody was outside, and it was dark. There were 3 of us. Instead of waiting around we simply walked outside 3 strong, ran at him and beat the living crap out of him. However, he is not your average bad guy, no sir he is almost immune to damage unless it is from a female. So we basically killed him instead.

That is how it would have ended if any of this took place in any part of the world. Whether it be the hoods in Comptonn or the peaceful neighborhoods of Maryland this dude would be killed quickly.

However I heard moaning all around me. The people next to me gripped my hand and begged for me to tell them it was over, they got on their knees crying for it to be over. I was unable to ease their suffering. Eventually we all broke down, one by one we all huddled together. We eventually stripped our clothes off and laid close for body warmth. The acting sent chills up our spines. After 79 hours the movie ended and all of us in our naked glory hugged each other. Thought I lay next to 10 women fully bare I was not turned on, nay, the movie was so language failing me right now that we actually could not even talk.

These events could be slightly due to the amount of Kush, cocaine, wine and cough syrup I had taken moments into the opening credits. For I knew that a group of people always go to shady ATM's in the middle of nowhere.

I hope this review entertained you, because right now I am planning to kill anything electronic in my house simply because the memory of that movie haunts me. Was it the worst movie I have ever seen? Words fail me, but it is a type of word so similar to yes, yet so unbelievably powerful I cannot describe it, nor do I want to.

I will pray for everyone.
