Looper (2012)
Looper movie review
Alejandro Carranza "Looper" Will Captivate Your Mind
I have just seen the movie "Looper" by Rian Johnson, an American director, writer and editor, and I would like to make my opinion about this incredible piece of art. This movie was released in 2012 and has been a success since the begging. "Looper" can be seen as an action, cime, and sci-fi. It is filled with intrigue and violence and it will break your mind. If I had to rate this movie, I would give it a 9 out of 10 because it very well done and the topic of was very interesting. It is not a surprise that "Looper" won 8 awards and had 23 nominations. It can even be considered as the best movie of this decade. This movie can be compared with the movie "Inception" of Christopher Nolan because of its visual effects and futuristic ideas. This movie got a 7.4 in IMDb and 9.3 in rotten tomatoes. These scores demonstrate that this movie was very good for the public and for the critiques.
"Looper" talks about time travel and how this was used by the mobs in 2074 to get rid of their enemies. They sent the person to the past to be killed because in the future, if you killed someone you would be caught easily. The assassins that killed the people in the past where called Loopers. One of them is Joe. He kills many people but one day he finds out that the company he works for wants to 'close the loop'. Closing the loop is when the company tells the looper that to kill someone and then he finds out that it is he in the future. Before shooting old Joe, he hesitates and understands that the man with the bag in his head is he in the future and decides not to kill him. The conflict of the story starts with this and then gets worse when the company he works for finds out that he didn't kill old Joe. They both then face the conflict and run from the assassins who are after them. Also, a conflict is created between old Joe and Joe that makes this task harder on them.
First of all I would like to comment about the actors performance in this movie. Joseph Gordon- Levitt who played as John, exited the expectations in this movie. He never seemed fake with his actions and was able to become the character completely. When seen this movie I was impressed with his performance and demonstrates a growth from its previous movies like "Inception" and "The Dark Night Rises". Bruce Willis, who played as Old Joe, did also an extraordinary job. It was impressive how these two actors matched perfectly and I could really feel that in thirty years Joseph would be Bruce. Bruce Willis also brought a lot of experience to this young cast and made the movie much better. Another good actress was Emily Blunt who as well as Brus and Joseph, worked incredibly and created a sense of reality in the movie.
One aspect that I could exalt about this movie was its special effects. One scene that stranded out to me was when Joe prepared the place where he would commit the executions. In here, there was an incredible effect when the person appeared from the future blindfolded with a bag in his head. Music also helped the scene to create suspense and makes it seam that time goes slower when this is happening. Also, another aspect that was very successful in this movie was the similarity that existed between Joe and Old Joe. Even though this two actors are different, the make up that was used created a sense that they where actually the same person in different years.
"Looper" teach us a very important lesson in life. This is, that every action you have has a reaction. If you act properly, good things will happen while if you act recklessly and badly there will be negative consequences. We learn this because at the beginning of the movie, Joe tells the audience that the life of the loopers was filled with joy because they got very good payment for little amount of work. This short cut, will then lead to the assured death in the future when the company 'closes the loop' or kills the looper. This means that because he chose the easier and illegal way in life, he will end up having to pay the consequences. This lesson can be applied in the every day life because you should always choose the correct paths throw life and not the easier paths. Most times, the easier paths will create suffering in the future.

Inception (2010)
Positive review of "Inception"
"Inception" Will Captivate Your Mind
I have just seen the movie "Inception" by Christopher Nolan, an English director and writer, and I would like to make my opinion about this incredible piece of art. This movie was released in 2011 and has been a success since the begging. "Inception" can be seen as an action, adventure, and mystery movie. It is filled with intrigue and it will break your mind. If I had to rate this movie, I would give it a 9.9 out of 10 because it very well done and the topic of was very interesting. It is not a surprise that "Inception" won 4 Oscars and another 33 wins and 109 nominations. It can even be considered as the best movie of this decade.
"Inception" talks about Cobb, Arthur, Ariadne, Eames, and Saiko who adventures into the mind of Robert Fisher with their skills of extraction to implant an idea into him. Cobb joins the group together and they prepare themselves for the hard task of making their first inception. They wanted to implant the idea that Fishers father wanted him to start over his life when he died and that he should not continue his company. They were doing this because Saiko, the rival company owner wanted Fisher's company out so that he could be the leader of the market and he hired the team to perfume the mission. Cobb accepted this because Saiko promised that he would clear his history so that he could return to his children because he had conflicts in the past that didn't allow him to see them. They enter into fisher's mind and find out that his subconscious have been trained against threats like the one they were tying to create. This makes the journey harder. In order to be able to actually insert an idea, they had to go very deep into the dream. They end up having to be dreaming in a dream of a dream so that they could be as deep in Fisher's subconscious as they could.
First of all I would like to comment about the actors performance in this movie. Leonardo Di Caprio who played as Cobb in the film did, in my opinion, an extraordinary job. I actually felt as if all the conflicts and problems he faced were real and also he made me feel as if his history with his wife was a reality. Di Caprio can be considered as one of the best actors in actuality because of his performance in movies like "Titanic "and this movie can be seen as one of his best works. Joseph Gordon-Levitt who played as Arthur, as well as Di Caprio, exited the expectations in this movie. He as well never seemed fake with his actions and was able to become the character completely. Ellen Page, in my opinion was the worst actress in the film. She made an incredible performance, maybe even one of her best, but still I could notice the lack of experience she had while been compared with the other actors in the movie. I believe that the action movies aren't her strength and she should maybe get involved more in other genres.
One aspect that I could exalt about this movie was its special effects. One scene that stranded out to me was when Cobbs was teaching Ariadne about dreams and how she was going to be the architect of them. She then decided to alter the laws of physics and bended the city so that the roofs of one build would be touching the roofs of another building. Also, another scene that was very interesting was when Cobb explained about the world that he created with his wife because of the incredible architecture. Also, the movie had a very good script because it described a lot of aspects that the audience needed to know to fully understand the movie because of the confusing concepts such as of inception, extraction and limbo. Also, a very interesting aspect f the movie is the fact that Christopher Noland decided to leave an open ending, which has created confusion to many. I believe that this technique fitted perfectly in this movie because it made people to think about the movie even when it had ended.
Two very important lessons that I learned from this movie are that you are never alone in life. This was taught to me because even though Cobbs had his internal conflicts with his children and his wife, Ariadne constantly asked him to let her in so that she could help him and she did. Also, that everything has a root cause. I learned this because the plan of the mission was to put in a simple idea that would grow in Fisher's subconscious and would change his life. In life, people always ask why bad things happen to them but if they look closely to the reasons that lead to what happened to them, they will always have the fault.

El cielo rojo (2008)
...
"El Cielo Rojo" Won't Make Your Face Red of Disappointment By: Alejandro Carranza
Most adolescents in Costa Rica have a similar life after ending high school and having to take decisions that will change their life forever. Miguel Gómez made a film of comedy and drama that portrayed this specific situation. He named the movie El Cielo Rojo and was released in 2008. He made the movie by taking as base his real life story. He even made four main characters that portrayed him and his three best friends. A couple of weeks ago, I saw this movie and really enjoyed it. El Cielo Rojo is a movie talks about the adventures of four best friends named Néstor, Manuel, Berny and Roberto. They all have recently graduated from school and have no plan for their future. This fact makes them decide to just continue doing what they most like before. This was looking for girls, going to different parties, going to the beach and other activities most teenagers have. Never less, they have to overcome many obstacles like difficult relationships with girls, street fights or other personal complications that will turn the course of the story. I think that most of the actors did a good job, even if they weren't professional actors. In the movie, only two actors were professional and they didn't even act in important roles. Ricardo Rodriguez, one of the main actors, played the role of Manuel. I felt that his job wasn't very good at first but then improved throughout the movie because he started to understand better how Manuel should be. Berny was played by Mauricio Dapena, another main character. I thought that his performance was the worse of the four main characters because he seemed unreal throughout the movie. Allen Obando, played the role of Roberto, who was as well an important character. I liked Allen's performance because he acted as if Roberto was really him, making his part very believable witch made a lot of his jokes better therefore it made the audience to laugh more and to get identified with him. Edgar Roman was Nestor, who was the last of the four main characters in the film. I think that this character was the hardest to portray because he had a very different way of thinking than the rest of the main characters. Edgar did a similar to Ricardo and his improvement throughout the film. El Cielo Rojo, had ups and downs during the movie. Still, knowing that the economic resources that this movie used were so low, I thought that Miguel Gómez did a great job directing the movie. I liked the script a lot because I enjoyed all of the jokes that were told and they used the vocabulary we "ticos" use. I felt that at the beginning, the movie wasn't as good as the end. This was due to the, almost, none experience of the actors. Still, they managed to get on their feet and improve the movie. A scene I didn't enjoy was when all of the main characters where on the beach and they give a bad news to Manuel. I felt that the camera moved too much around the characters because, even though it expressed the feelings of the scene, in got me distracted and I started to get dizzy. Also, I didn't like all the scenes when they were in the car because I felt that were they placed the camera it didn't appeal to me nor grabbed my attention. Finally, I didn't like the scene were they are all sitting in a hill after a party with Alejandra (Maria Elena Oreamuno) because at times one of the main characters was blocked by another so you couldn't see his face and reactions when others were talking. By the other hand, a scene I enjoyed was when Néstor, Manuel, Berny and Roberto, where sitting in a restaurant and the director decided to use an interesting movement of the camera that rotated quickly as each character talked. Also, I liked the scene where the sky turns red because it expresses all the feelings that they are having at the moment in just one quick take. El Cielo Rojo gave me an important lesson in life. The lesson is that friendship is something that will be with you in good and bad moments of your life and you should never be ungrateful to those who are willing to give it to you. Also, another theme or moral that you could get from this story is to live your life to the fullest no matter what others think you should do. Finally, this story teaches everyone that you should love and care the people who are around you because maybe, for some reason, they might go of your life and when this happens you will regret not loving them. This movie was made for Costa Rica only, but specifically for adolescents. This is because if you are not a "tico", you won't understand many of the jokes and wont' be so identified with the characters as if you were. Therefore, I sincerely recommend this film to every adolescent living in Costa Rica because they will not only identify with the movie, but also be supporting the production of cinema in Costa Rica. This movie was rated PG- 13 because of the slag vocabulary. In conclusion, I think, that El Cielo Rojo, is a great Costa Rican film that could have had small improvement but still made an excellent job portraying the life of most of the adolescents in Costa Rica. Scale of 1-100 75
