The Doctors (2008)
Pathetic Infomercial
This sorry excuse of a television show is nothing more than a drawn-out infomercial.
Listen and watch "doctors" who are nothing more than hacks and sell- outs promote products and services throughout their entire show. They shamelessly pick people with illnesses or conditions that will allow them the opportunity to promote their favorite companies and products.
All one needs to do is watch one episode to see the sad and pathetic ramblings of sell-outs trying to trick you into going out to purchase their junk endorsements. The first few episodes were, at least, slightly helpful and offered useful medical "advice". The sad state of this program quickly evolved into those sell-outs reverting to their true nature of cut-rate car salesmen.
Love It or List It (2008)
watch other people spend their money
Since when did watching other people spend their money become entertainment. The mere fact that folks are given the option of only 3 other homes or to remain with their current residence after a renovation is no form of entertainment.
This show fails to provide anything other than a documentation of the idiocy of home buyers and willingness to allow home values to surpass the inflation rate by hundreds of percentage points. The show continues to exploit the ignorance of pathetic home buyers through the scam artistry of inflating home defects discovered during the renovation process.
In every show there is some form of defect discovered and it must be exploited. In one of the shows they discovered mold and that the cost of removing this mold was enough to completely eat away at the possibility of renovating another project. A simple search on the internet will reveal that the mold removal does not cost tens of thousands of dollars. homeadvisor.com placed the average amount spent was between 1100-3100 dollars. No where near the amount they charged an ignorant couple.
HGTV is setting a trend of airing crooks and scam artists as a form of entertainment.
Full Frontal with Samantha Bee (2016)
Strangely unoriginal
Samantha has so much feminist humor to offer yet she falls short. There are far too many opportunities to expand her intelligent-based jokes yes she seems to completely ignore that laughter fountain. After what seemed like a full year of hype and commercials that promised to break into a "man's" sector, this show provides nothing to laugh at. The first few shows so far have been nothing more than obvious political bias and feminist rants. She fails to take her humor in any direction other than the singular narrow-minded attempts at crass insults drowned in fake laughter. She makes fun of the obvious and continues down that same path with humorless allegory. It takes little imagination to select a celebrity or politician that has said something stupid and then make fun of them for saying something stupid. And that is what she is demonstrating; little imagination. This elementary style of heckling has yet to make me laugh the way Dennis Miller did on SNL, or the way Stewart or Oliver have. If the show was not sandwiched between other prime TBS programming, I would stop watching it all together.
Interstellar (2014)
a promising let down
Glad I waited to watch this on an already paid for subscription online.
This movie showed so much promise and I found myself laughing at the frivolous attempts at pretending to understand physics. They could have used Science Fiction to the full extent of the unknown and blown the effects out of the water, but rather, they used half-witted science to try and make the concepts realistic.
The other half of the movie I was laughing at the sad attempt to establish some sentimental relationship between characters. All too often relationships were summarized in a poor attempt at back fill.
The beginning of the movie was confusing and near the end of the movie I found myself playing with my dog rather than even trying to watch.
Don't get your hopes up.
Flip or Flop (2013)
A couple crooks
I cannot believe HGTV keeps this on their network. This is nothing but a documentary of two scam artists.
If you don't mind watching a couple crooks make up fake arbitrary budgets and show you how they skimp on every renovation then this is for you.
The far too obvious scam they work while trying to "flip" a house is only disconcerting and I know I would never buy a property that has ever been touched by these two. They even go so far as to show building code violations on camera and how these violations are ignored.
This show makes poor attempts at trying to make the viewers feel sorry for them and their sad sad budget and then they show the two crooks driving up and away in their super expensive luxury cars.
This was the final reason I needed to never watch HGTV again.
