Venus & Vegas (2010)
Watch it for Eddie Kaye Thomas....
OK. I am going to be quick on this one. this is a very average movie. even below average at points. some chuckles. not any great laughs. mediocre story. not bad, not very good either.
the only thing that left me with a happy feeling after watching this was Eddie Kaye Thomas's acting (the guy from American Pie, the one with Stifler's mom)
he is brilliant. i think he is going to be a great comedian. he has so much more potential. just take the horse track scene. perhaps the only hilarious scene in the whole movie. and look at him in other scenes. he *can* act physically. and just look at his face movements. i really think he should be given a better chance in bigger movies.
and i can't figure out why his scenes are funny and OK, but other scenes are sometimes so boring and borderline bad.
could it be his are written by a separate writer? or others are not 100% acting their best (and they are good actors, from hilarious shows). i don't know....
to sum it up it's worth a watch. only if to watch Eddie's scenes.
Cougar Hunting (2011)
Shoot the guy who payed for this!
I can't believe someone payed to produce this piece of s***. I can't believe they could hire a crew to work on this. and where did they pick their crew? right off the street by random? even that would have made a better movie.
pick literally any porno and you will get better acting, better production quality, even better laughs.
there are a few scenes involving fecal matter, one in particular quite graphic and disgusting. what they show in that scene sums up my opinion about this movie!
and i can't believe they went to trouble of getting an R rating and then just show one titty shot. only *one*. you would think something as low as this at least would be saturated by nudity so they can attract an audience. but nope. just one.
so don't waste your time. stay away from it.
i just wished to know the finance process allowing this kind of crap being produced. maybe some rich kid wanted to make a "movie" and his daddy paid for this s***. and he literally paid for s***.
Sucker Punch (2011)
mixed feelings.....
Story. that's the main part of a movie. "Sucker Punch" being the latest in a series of movies I've seen recently which seem to lack this essential ingredient, I am feeling sadder every time a movie with potential comes short and becomes a forgettable 90min entertainment flick.
I am really starting to miss movies like Rain Man (great story), Sin City (what a good ride!) and even 300 (respectable one).
and it's sad to see so much effort go to waste. my own experience.....well, i liked this movie. i didn't mind the CGI at all. on the contrary i felt some parts were very well made. even some scenes reminded me of Sin City. and i REALLY enjoyed the music. soundtrack choices were well placed, and i have to admit i always have a soft spot for anything with White Rabbit in it ;)
but we again come back to story. and that's where it comes short. i think they tried. i believe this movie had something to say, but it was well underdeveloped.....
anyway it's sad to see something having the potential of becoming a memorable movie turn into this.
Sherlock Holmes (2009)
not as much fun as i thought it would be
reading reviews and watching trailers i was led to believe this movie was going to be fast paced, entertaining and fun to watch. sadly it was not quite any of them. don't get me wrong, it isn't a bad movie. but if you are looking for some action, entertainment, comedy, witty dialogs, etc... you won't find much in this movie.
Robert Downey's lines are sometimes boring. the story isn't that much interesting. even quite predictable at times. perhaps the only really good thing about this movie is Jude Law's acting. at least he kept his character interesting enough. over all i was disappointed and even a bit tired at the end.
