Il portiere di notte (1974)
An Interesting Opinion about Nazis
I have to say, I usually search films by looking at their posters in the first place. If i like the poster i will take a look at it. Like this movie. I was very interested with the SS woman on the cover. And i decided to watch. I wasn't disappointed. It wasn't the best movie i saw but great piece of interesting opinion about after WW2 era. With it's non stop camera movement and the use of beautiful classical musics it made a great impression on me. With having interesting story about an ex-SS soldier who still believes in Nazi ideology, and a young Jewish girl, Its an unseen reality of WW2 and Nazis.
The way of the storytelling was good. Using flashbacks and editing it made the movie quite watchable. The directing was original (Which my priority on a film.) camera was never stable. Using multiple movements and zooms the director created a great atmosphere.
With the script, i might say i didn't really enjoyed it because it has some unnecessary parts and its a little bit slow. Didn't worked with the characters psychology. But i have to say there were some brilliant scenes which you just can't get it out of your head.
The acting was great. They were sharp, smooth, whatever is necessary for the scene.
I recommend people to watch this film because like i sad before, you probably look at the SS the way this movie shows. People should watch and share their opinion.
I Knew It Was You: Rediscovering John Cazale (2009)
Great piece and informative.
This is a beautiful documentary about an unknown actor who somehow you can manage to remember his face and previous roles but don't know his name. John Cazale... A genius. This documentary is not a cheap one. If you watch (I definitely recommend)you will see tones of famous actors who worked with the John Cazale in the years of Illimunated Hollywood (1970s).
Even though i watched his works before (Deerhunter,Dog Day Afternoon, Godfather 1&2, The Conversation) I never realized that he is one of the most important actors in the history of 70s. He was just another guy. But after this short i realized that his intention was to be the other guy. The stranger, unwanted one, dumb character, bad son. These were the roles that made him a known actor at that time.
I also wanted to add that i wasn't thinking that actors have so much work in a movie besides the film crew and directors before watching this film. Now, (Thanks to John Cazale) i believe that a simple character can add magnificent taste to a scene (with his gesture, making it look like real life and showing singularity with his character.)
This is must watch film for liberated Hollywood fans.
Banquise (2005)
Simple, Different, Amazing
This is a very cool animated french short film. I can start with saying i loved the sounds in this. The way his or her mother talks. And also the visual things are amazing. The view seems so real even if its an animated film. And lastly the story is also pretty good. Dreaming to be somewhere else... Its a good movie about being an outsider. The color texture is amazing. Yellow, orange and blue highly used in this film. It may seem like an another sad french animation but it makes you feel happy after all. Story telling is incredible. Childish dreams, feeling odd, sympathy, being a human. You will definitely find something in common with this short film. It is also showed in the Festival De Cannes
