The Family (2013)
Thoroughly enjoyable, excellent acting and directing
This film kept me entertained all the way through, which is not a common experience for me.
The acting was great and the cinematography was beautiful.
The story- very compelling and thought provoking.
If you like films that make you think, relate deeply to real life situations and explore those issues we don't talk too much about, then this is the film for you.
10/10 Actions have consequences and this film explores the long-term repercussions of temporary arrogant gain.
If you like Robert De Niro, you will love this film, he portrays the character beautifully.
Gripping, entertaining and a solid film.
It was not what I expected at first out of the film but it is a decent thriller, better than my initial expectation.
IF you enjoy thrillers that are realistic then this is a great experience, you won't regret.
Disconnect (2012)
Disappointing
I think the concept of this film was good but it failed to progress into anything that would impact the viewer deeply or provoke many thoughts.
It was quite basic and not very creative.
Definitely not worth watching unless you are easily impressed with basic dialogue and superficial story lines.
The characters were quite weak although well represented by the actors, they didn't adhere much emotion or creativity.
There wasn't much exploration into the characters lives to intrigue the viewer in an intense way.
The length of the film was enough for more scenes to be added for each character.
However, the scenes were minimal and not dominant enough to raise attention to the plots.
Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005)
Minimal effort and maximum disappointment-pretentious
I like well made films and the introduction to this one, although slight dull seemed intriguing. However, it failed to ignite and like a car with a broken engine it needed a strong push, which it failed to receive.
The scenarios throughout, touching on the subject of Pedophilia and the dangerous curious minds of lonely children were weak, this movie failed to make a proper statement in every area, it's like the writer had intention to create a meaningful scenario and then got way too stoned that they couldn't be bothered to follow through. This film was way too long and too much time was spent on the troubled female character who was recording and sent her work to an artist.
I don't think this film was a realistic portrayal or an artistic one of any community, it truly was the same all the way through, with nothing groundbreaking taking place, it was all just ideas bundled together that never went anywhere, somewhere someone had intention but the paper plane just kept flying in circles.
--------Not worth viewing if you actually care to watch thought- provoking artistic films ----- this film is the most pretentious i've seen recently
Después de Lucía (2012)
Terrible, unless you want to see a film about bullying
I give 3/10 only for the bullying storyline... This film in my opinion was a total waste of time; if you want to see a film documenting school bullying, where you're pretty much accepting to visually endure severe abuse of a person, who quickly gives in trying to protect themselves then you may appreciate the film.
The main character accepts weakness pretty quickly as she falls into depression and accepts all the abuse. In the end I imagine the intention of the film is to suggest she made all the bullies feel guilty for what they had done to her, as they believed her to be dead somewhere in the ocean, whereas she was in fact truly alive back in her native hometown.
However, I found this film could have said as much if it was a 15minute short and in reality I don't believe her death would affect the bullies so much, if people can be as cruel to torture a human they previously associated with as a friend, then I do not personally believe the guilt would be a tremendous debt for them to live with.
The final scene where one bully is thrown into the ocean is great but i'd rather it have been the fat rapist than the guy she consensually had sex on camera with, yes it was disgusting that the sh1thead posted that to her father or whoever did, I just think they all deserved abuse back but mostly the rapist and the girls because they abused her the most severely.
Better ending? If he fed all of their bodies to sharks :)
