Judgment at Nuremberg (1961)
mass hysteria
I just saw this movie again last week-end , it still mesmerized me . A superb reflection on a unique moment in history, on how decent and even righteous people, even high-ranking ones , can be swayed on compromising their values, principles, moral codes or professionnal oaths. I am sure every viewer wonder how he would have acted under that regime, that sort of peer-pressure and threat. Also a good reminder that not only nazis or germans were to blame, so many were seduced by Hitler at some point, some for a moment, some for good. As for the acting, it is simply outstanding, doesnt even look like acting, seems like real life , but then what else is to be expected from such a cast. This one certainly has stood the test of time and will surely endure.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
science friction
how can people vote for this one I dont understand, it has no political, sociological or human qualities whatsoever, it may be entertaining but its scope is more like a football game or time spent playing a video game, entertainment pure and simple. If this ever wins an Oscar it will only serve to cheapen the value of those awards, how can people pick this over Schindlers list or Sunset Blvd is beyond me.It may be good entertainment value but it will never be a classic in the classic sense.
Let It Be (1970)
heavenly sounds
Let it be is not my favorite Beatles album but even their half-hearted efforts were better than anybody else by far, they were more than a rock band and history will remind everyone of their passage and their imprints on their era, as a matter of fact it already does. The rooftop gig at the end of the movie is indeed tops, just imagine the same process for albums like AbbeyRd or SgtPeppers, Revolver...oh well Anyhow, Dont let me down live on the rooftop is just plain superb despite John forgetting some of the words, doesnt really matter , you will be utterly enthralled by then.....just GREAT
Fräulein Doktor (1969)
show it again Sam
I havent seen that movie in 20 or more years but I remember the attack scene with the horses wearing gas-masks vividly, this scene ranks way up there with the best of them including the beach scene on Saving private Ryan, I recommend it strongly.
Help! (1965)
its The Beatles, what more do u need
Lets all be grateful that some footage of the greatest little band of all time are here for future generations. It is not as good as Hard days night but we still get to see them perform and that is always a delight, the four lads who shook the world.
A Hard Day's Night (1964)
LIVE BEATLES!!!!!
the Beatles truly changed the world, u can see real live concert footage on here, this makes it one if not the biggest movie ever for me,the story line surely aint no Sunset Blvd but it is funny and a glimpse on 1963-64 England. Anyway I choose Beatles music over any movie any day.
