Finch (2021)

A touching story
6 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I quite enjoyed this. Although it left some unanswered questions.

1. As a geek, how do you build robots with personalities with such basic parts.

2. Hanks, the voice actor for the robot, and 3 people that show up in "flashback scenes" - I suspect the Casting Director was overpaid.?

3. I guess the ozone layer is healthier closer to the ocean? Don't understand the science behind that... But if that was where the "safety" was - why had so many who had been at the Golden Gate Bridge, then leave the area (back to the badlands, I presume)

Poor historical accuracy
13 December 2019
The Writer is the Director - if the two roles had been separate then one would have picked up on the many historical inaccuracies, particularly in the dialogue, where many of the phrases spoken are things that have been common language in the last decade, not 100 years ago. Other aspects, such as the over-familiarity between the ranks were simply not the way it was...

Seal Patrol (2014)
Don't waste your time
12 February 2014
D-Grade Story Line, C-grade acting. I should have stopped watching with Eric Roberts started strutting around the screen. poor visual affects whenever the "bad guy" comes up. Poor military tactics for a group of supposed spec-ops players. Non-sensical "twists" in the story line.

For the life of me, the "Seal Patrol" reference is vague - some of the the protagonists might have once been seals, but even that is a stretch.

As I said - not really worth wasting one's time on.

I am regretting having watched it, when I could have been doing something more productive like cutting my toenails.

Tasmanian Devils (2013 TV Movie)
1/10
What a dud
27 January 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This has got to be one of the singularly worst movies ever made - non-Tasmanian mountains, non Tasmanian trees, non Australian helicopter registration, bad accents, in the first few minutes, someone is waving around a wad of US Currency, to "bribe" their way in - double whammy - Tasmanian PArk Rangers would never take bribes, and US dollars are next to useless in Tasmania. At the end, they climb into an observation tower - they don't exist in Tasmania. all accommodations are at ground level. There appear to be electric lights in said building, but they don't work, except when the structure is falling, they are throwing sparks. As for firearms - if a ranger was armed it would be with a rifle, never with a sidearm.

ANd, of course, Tasmanian devils do exist, but they aren't like the ones in the cartoons - they are the size of a small dog - about 8kg maximum.

THe writer/director shouldn't give up their day jobs, if this is the best that they can do. THy would have been better doing a Bigfoot near Vancouver story...
