Accused (2023)
Boring, Tiresome, Clichéd
Wow... where do I start. Another film made purely for a cliché count. It's endless from the beginning of the film.
The acting is absolutely dreadful. You can hear the lead actor and his girlfriend reading their lines, it's that wooden.
The plot of the story is tiresome, transparent and predictable. Created by someone who's short on ideas, lacks creativity and want to act like they are creating a provocative piece of work.
The only thing it provoked was an eye roll and a big sigh from me. I am truly fed up of these films with flimsy plotlines, easy to prove the innocence of the lead character and so many plot holes that common sense and reality wouldn't allow.
Please save yourself the time, avoid this film, it's absolutely awful.
T.1.M. (2023)
Terrible film
Horrible writing, characters are written in such a way they seem absolutely stupid. The plot is paper thin and written by a six year old I think.
This is like Black Mirror for simple minded people. I am shocked by how bad this film is. Characters written in a way that they can't identify the obvious in front of them.
If you enjoy films with a twist, avoid this, you'll predict every step of the way. You'll find yourself angry at the basic, boring, childlike writing, absolutely insulting to your intelligence on all levels.
Avoid at all costs. Absolute waste of time. You'd be better entertained watching grass grow.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)
Enjoy it for what it is.
First off too many people expect a Mario film to be the way THEY want it to be. When have we had the exact same Mario games repeatedly? There's always a difference somewhere.
This is a different medium of media for Mario than what we are used to and it done things the Hollywood way, but I would say it felt like Nintendo had their hands in this a lot.
It's a film about the Super Mario Bros. Let's not complicate things and throw around lore and "this wasn't accurate as per the games" etc. This is a fun film. Kids will love, adults will love it.
If you are a huge fan of Mario park your expectations at the door and enjoy this version for what it was intended to be.
If you aren't a huge fan of Mario or you don't have an opinion on Mario I'd argue you could still enjoy this movie very much. It's funny, has great pacing, the Easter eggs are there if you want them, but it does soft touch hand holding for those who may not be familiar with the IP.
I think it was a great balance between entry level and enjoyable for hardcore fans (who don't take themselves too seriously).
Penguinz0 review sums it up the best (he doesn't include spoilers per se but hints at a lot).
The Black Phone (2021)
Starts great...
So it starts ok. It's intriguing, tense, scary and layered...but after a "hope spot" it goes down hill.
Cheap tropes, uninspired writing, quickly rips you out of the moment. Terrible film overall. I went from all in to all out.
So boring. All the hype for THIS! Ethan Hawke/his character had so much potential and they wasted it on this.
Don't waste your time. You've seen a million films just like it done better. 😴
