Testament: The Story of Moses (2024)
Excellent faith based work
Thank you for all the team for making an excellent series. It is extremely difficult task to make a series based on 3 different religion and there may be variations but I am so pleased to watch this during Easter time when this has been released.
It's one think to read and hear but to watch this on TV..it appears as if the story has come to life. The whole time I could not stop but just praise the Lord for his intense power.
It was also great to learn the depictions of the story through the lens of each religion. I really hope we can see more of the various stories from the old testament take of series like this.
Thank you for all the people who involved in this series to give us a breath taking series.
A Journal for Jordan (2021)
Disappointed
I was so excited before I started the movie. I love Michal Jordon and Danzel Washington being the director I knew it was going to be an epic movie. But I think the movie lost the plot. It's meant to be a romantic movie with some hot scenes like fifty shades grey which I was so not romantic to watch. Too many dramas and little empahis on the real connection of the lead roles. I am the one to cry with touchy movies but I didn't feel anything right till the end. The son takes the centre stage and he is calling the shots. It was not believable..perhaps the movie did not flow properly with too many versions of stories and real life depicted all at once. The soldiers work story was also missing. His character so boring and doesn't have much to say. I am not sure how the memoir was so popular as the movie was a pure disappointment..sorry Denzel.
I hope this is not the end of Denzels movie. I would love to watch more of his work in future.
The Imperfects (2022)
Okay..
I only watched this beacuse I wanted to watch Jedidiah Goodacre. Unfortunately I was disappointed beacuse he wasn't one of the lead characters.
This is supposed to be a fun teenage series..it does so to some extent. It appears ro be a low budget as majority of the scenes are inside the house. The lead musician character ruined the show beacuse she comes across as annoying and unrelatable. The concept of the series is good but the execution with characters and scenes probably failed it hence I am giving only 4 star. Even the main scientist character was a joke and came across as dumb and not so funny.
Lykke-Per (2018)
It's an art!
This movie is deep. It is a slow drama and a long movie. The movie is quite hard to understand and I think most people will understand in their own version. It's not a love story, engineering, or religious. It has all these aspects and watching the movie along the way we get swayed away as to what is the story about.
The version I understood was that his childhood trauma was so deep inside him that he could not open his heart, forgive and let love in. He could not love his parents. He also tries to create this external version of his new life by involving with rich people, getting new women hoping that would change him but the past trauma never leaves him he could not lose him. He asks God for help and becomes religious yet that doesn't give him peace. He despised his father all his life and didn't forgive him yet he realises he was turning to be exactly like him. The end is sad and isolates himself as he never believes he is worthy of love :(
Magic Mike's Last Dance (2023)
Embarrassing to watch
I had high hopes for being "Magic Mike" but it didn't even scratch the surface of my expectation. I felt embarrassed for all the artists in the show. The dances felt so outdated and old despite hiring young and new dancers. I was unsure about what the movie was about... his last dance, the girl or taking the trash stripper concept to high class conservative England and failing to nail it? Salma Hayaks acting was probably the only good thing in the first half of the movie. The highly anticipated dance that made us wait till the end was not worth the wait. None of the dancers characters were developed so it felt disconnected. Please dont bring out any more Mike's.
What the Health (2017)
Documentary to turn everyone vegan
The guy interviews the diabetes association person and starts arguing that a vegetarian or vegan diet cures diabetes based on one study. My mom has been a strict vegetarian occasional diary for 20 years and her diabetes is still bad. The whole doco is against meat and diary products and nothing about other factors which are very important like sugar contents, alcohol, smoking and mostly exercise. If you don't exercise no amount of holiest food can make one healthy. The guy was all about bad meat, bad eggs, bad diary blah blah blah. Dude moderation is the key with good exercise. Anything of too much is bad..we need lean meat for protein building and some diary too. Don't spread your vegan ideas out no wonder all associations declined to comment beacuse he sounds lunatic.
Dream Girl 2 (2023)
Stupid goofy movie that makes no sense
I havent watched an Indian movie in 20 years. This was on netflix as highly watched so I decided to give it a go and oh boy what a regret. I am not sure what my expectations were. All the characters are exactly the same from 20 years ago all put together. Same goofy meaningless vibes they all have aged but playing the same characters they did 20 years. As actors whats the point of playing movies without versatility and growth for a change? We don't even stuck to the same job for few years and these guys doing thing for decades that must be so depressing. An utter dissapointment. If netflix is playing international movies I would expect the movies to raise their bars higher.
Fair Play (2023)
Awesome interpretation of toxic relationships
I am amazed to see some poor reviews as it is an awesome movie. The movie captures a real life issue in every toxic relationships on how it starts from a fairytale relationship to quite the opposite that both end up hating each other. The tension felt throughout the movie is so unreal that you don't watch the movie but you are in it.
The gaslighting, emotional and mental abuse the woman went through without realising she was being abused was a truly depicted. After all that he keeps love bombing and saying he is sorry to abuse her again. A vicious circle where she keep getting sucked in. The sad part is a lots of people are going through this circle right now. I hope this movie enlightens them to have courage and stand up for themselves like she did at the end.
Extraction 2 (2023)
Taking Hemsworth as an actor seriously from now on
I never thought anything about Chris Hemsworth other that he is our Aussie actor. People talk about how hot he is and I never understood why as he has an average gym body neither I liked any of his stupid super hero characters. But hello in this movie as its the first time I saw him as a serious actor. The actions were mindblowing thanks to the director. The times he shed some tears it was believable and touchy. The movie was way better that the first and I had to watch the train scenes on repeat as it was incredible. The use of drone cameras in action movies does make it very exciting to watch.
Never Have I Ever (2020)
Fun and very entertaining
Every season I finish watching within 2 days! That tells a lot about how much I love it. I am a 40 year old yet the school chick flick and the personality of Devi is so delightful to watch. There is a bit that is applicable to all ages. Her moms affairs, her aunts love story and relationship with girlfriends, psychologists and boys she thinks hot. There is a lot happening and it's just so refreshing and fun to watch. It takes me back to school days where life was more fun. Netflix please keep this series ongoing as we want to see more of Devi and her friends. Also please bring back Ethan and he is so cute.
The Bad Batch (2016)
Had potential
This movie had so so much potential to be a great movie. The movie is made out to look like a quirky dark art which was great. What it lacks is a proper background story of the lead woman character and a good ending. How did the lady end up there? And the ending was kinda bizarre. I give 7 points beacuse Jason looked hottest than he ever has in this movie. I just couldn't take my eyes of him.
Visual effects were great too on how they achieved with the hand. Little kid played a good role. The movie kept me engaged through the movie wanting more to the story but that's where it failed beacuse there was none.
Stutz (2022)
Brilliant doco about life
The part x about demons within us is very real. This X is that fear that prevents us from living an abundant life. The more we x control the more miserable our life turns into. Only through gratefulness and positive self talk we can suppress those demons. Not eliminate but suppress thus the constant work that Stutz talks about. We humans thinks only if i rich, only if I was beautiful or famous or perfect. There is no such thing unfortunately.
The best part of the documentary is how two male open about their emotional vulnerability which is such a taboo even today. I commend on Jonah that he faced his part x that told him this doco was a bad idea. He has done a fantastic job and who knew Jonah could direct. What a talented man.
Marry Me (2022)
J Lo Overdosed
Is there such thing as too much JLo. Yes after watching this movie. It was all about her and everyone else looked like buffoons. I had high hopes for Maluma as i am a big fan but he looked like a puppet only appearing when he was needed. Talk about Markle Sparkle this movie was all about J Lo and how much sparkle she could handle head to toe.
Its a rom com but the characters lacked romantic chemistry. The script was also so boring. Most of them sounded like Jlo wrote it herself
The story line was too predictable after they get together. Her acting is good but no wonder she hasnt received any major acting awards as she is still playing the same kinda character she did 20 years ago.
Kate (2021)
Lady James Bond
Who needs James Bond when we have Mary Elizabeth. What an awesome action lead role playe by a woman. She is a total badass and the scene where she walks with sunnies and a cigarette I watched that on repeat. She is a gem and i think James Bond team should make her a lead role. The story and plot is plain boring. I kept getting lost in the Japanese names and the family tree yet I was entertained by how great Mary Elizabeth played the assassin role.
The Gray Man (2022)
Actors were not believable
The best actor was the indian dude his character was very likeable and scary. Others were all wishy washy. Captain america was trying too hard Gosling did not look bad ass enough and the small girl was annoying and couldn't act. The main villain didnt get what he deserved. Cinematography was quite good with the use of drones. The movie went strong in the beginning but lost its purpose along the way. Was the movie about Six, usb or the girl?
Love & Gelato (2022)
Rolling my eyes
Beginning to end i just kept rolling my eyes. Where do i begin?
No character chemistry, the lady looks too mature to be in a teen movie, she looks older than the two love interests, the love interests who are meant to be attractive are not remotely even attractive, the statements dont even make sense to the scenes and lacks depth, charactes bumping into each other randomly, phone number miraculously discovered, lady gets adopted by a man who could almost be her age arghhh. This movie tops my worst movie of all time.
King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017)
Lot going on but lost the plot
Charlie Hunnam is a great actor but his character in this movie would have suited a much younger lead role. He seems too mature for his character given Jude Law is his uncle and he looks older than his uncle. His hairstyle too modern for his outfit. Jude Law on the otherhand is not at all scary and I could not take him seriously. The actors have done a great job acting. However i wasn't impressed by the over the top things that was going on. The effort was there but things somehow dont flow well. Humour is out of place. Sad to see all the resources not working for good.
Rebirth (2016)
Waste of my time that I'll never get it back.
I honestly dont know what i just watched. The movie is satirically hinting towards born again Christians and how the writer thinks they are brain washed and made a thriller out of the concept. In reality it helps people not destroys ppl lives. A total rubbish and annoying movie i am angry at myself for even watching it.
Don't Look Up (2021)
Terrible
The top casts couldnt save the movie. Idea was great but the movie was horrible and akwardly embarrassing to watch. Its supposed to be a funny movie but i only laughed probably twice in the entire movie. Only Leos character made me laugh and he isnt even a comedian. Rest of the characters were really annoying and awkward.
Down to Earth with Zac Efron (2020)
Fun to watch
I always thought Jack was a great actor but i felt in love with his personality after watching this show. He is down to earth, humble, funny, genuine and has a huge heart with a passion to make a difference * a true blue. I saw a lot of negative remarks on how the series failed to dig the real issues on topic and barely scratched the surface but the way i see it is two people travelling the world having fun and getting some message accross. They don't claim to be scientists or environmentallist but have pointed out a lot of sustainable ways in a fun to watch way that probably one day it will impact in Western worlds. The show light hearted and is not coming across in a serious way like David attenborough that gives me anxiety to watch. So this series deserves more stars.
Skater Girl (2021)
Inspiring
Half the movie is in Indian language but still a great movie. The kids work were terrific and the joy that they find in simple skating is heart touching and emotional. I haven't cried so much in a long time watching a movie.
The Cold Light of Day (2012)
Waste of time
Don't bother watching, it is horrible. Henry does nothing but looks miserable and keeps on getting bashed and chased for a briefcase. Whats in the briefcase is never reveled. The girl comes into the picture but turns out to be his sister and not a love interest. I was still hoping that Bruce Wills was going to show up any min. What a garbage movie, i lost interest after 20mins. Not a single element was praise worthy.
