Serious Review from a Serious Silent Hill Gamer

Personally i didn't feel that the movie was perfect. A perfect video game/ comic book rendition has yet to be created. For us gamers/comic book readers that look at these films and think, "How badly are they going to crucify this one...." I think this movie wasn't THAT bad. Yes the acting was dry, the plot was weak, and the Husband's role was rather pointless. The special effects were very well done, the creatures stayed true to the game series, and the environments were 100% believable. Hollywood has a good way of putting a spin on certain franchises that will allow them to make a quick buck from die-hard fans and fans of the genre alike. With this movie as IMDb says in the trivia this was done with the husbands character. But my stance is that at least they didn't TOTALLY f&@# it up...it was decent for a Video game movie and I think it may only TRULY appeal to fans of the game. But it's really a step in the right direction for game/comic book movies. Video Game movies may only be a step behind great Comic Book translations like Spiderman and Sin City....and i'm just happy to see progression. I won't deny that I wish Silent Hill was done AFTER this progression.....but it was done decently at least...hey look on the bright side...it could have been done by Paul WS Anderson...he's a GREAT! director.....

13 Seconds was a very poor effort to bring a potentially good story to life. If this movie was made with a more competent set of actors it may have been a different story. With a mix of poor dialog and stiff acting abilities I found it very hard to take anything going on screen seriously.

Although I do have to admit there were some scenes had nice special effects which could have been a nice addition to the movie if they were actually worked into the movie effectively. This movie should get a 2 because it sucked but because of the special effects it will earn, like a Olympian in the special Olympics, a 4 just for trying.

JCVH is possibly one of the greatest examples of great movies that suck. JCVH is an awesome movie for this reason. True fans of film and people who have been at the bottom of the game understand what a hassle it can be to work without a budget. This film has some of the cheesiest effects that i've seen, but that is where it scores it's major points. With it's unbelievable amount of originality it's hard to understand how anyone could not want to see this movie. Most cynical reviewers will attack it's lack of 5 star acting, or it's lack of big budget effects, but the true deciding factor in a real fan of cinema's eyes is heart. This movie was scrounged together (For those of you who actually took the time to watch the special features on the DVD) and yet it was a huge favorite at many a film festival. This movie deserve much more credit that it is given, and I am going to see that it gets it.
