Granpa (2021)

Well... that escalated quickly

My first thoughts while watching were that the drama is delivered well. The casting in these films by David Griffin is spot on. The mom's dialogue setting up the back story for the granddad hit the right family tone. Here comes a heartwarming moment, right?

Now I have a pretty dark sense of humor so what the grandpa started talking you know what I felt? I felt like laughing! The shift the film took there was fantastic. The ending was pretty great too. My critiques would be that the cinematography could be honed better and that the ending footage went by a little fast, I think the presentation there could be drawn out more to reap the rewards of the moment.

Attraction (2020)

Solid Entertaining Short

Everything is spot on in this - the acting, the cinematography, the script, and the directing. The actors do a great and realistic job and would fit well in a large budget Hollywood film. The way the story comes out through the dialogue is very good. The short is mostly two people talking and yet was far more entertaining than most shorts I have seen. I am VERY interested in seeing a longer form film like a feature from this filmmaker and look forward to seeing more from him.

Great performances from the cast and dramatic direction from Letelier. Cinematography gets the scenes and drama across but doesn't excel at building tone. Well executed especially considering budgetary restraints!

Obesity is a problem many individuals have and often ignore. This doc tells the warming story of a man who decides to make a positive change in his life for passionate reasons. The film was well shot and edited. I recommend this to anyone who is interested in non-fiction filmmaking.

I made this and it was poorly "written". There is good talent at work here in the acting, great score & music, makeup effects, and Sonny Szalay's art but the movie itself is garbage. It might be more watchable if it were heavily cut down.

This documentary series offers an insightful look into the world of Australian pageantry. This show was more unique and interesting than a typical pageant show as there were more diverse challenges for the contestants to go through.

This is a well made "chick-flick" romance drama! It's a plot that may be familiar to some which is welcome. One of the biggest strengths of this film is it's acting which was stellar.

This film's puzzle solving and discovery aspects are in the vein of Indiana Jones and National Treasure. I really enjoy an am excited by this kind of thing. The film is more raw than studio offerings and as some of the negative reviews have pointed out could use some work in the shooting and cutting. I didn't think the acting was awful however. I look forward to seeing more films from Empire Builder!!

This documentary is quirky for sure and I dig it. There's so much knowledge presented that one would typically not know about feet. Since I use them every day I am glad to know more. The insights provided to industries involving feet were also eye opening.

This film is funny and crazy! It's interesting that different directors did different parts. There's alot more laughs here than in one of the forced studio comedies that get shelled out at us non-stop.

This movie is a stunning vision by a masterful filmmaker. The animated sequences are incredible too. I like films that follow life and offer deeper meaning and details within life like the movie Mr. Nobody. If you want to be taken on a journey this movie could be for you!

This movie had a good script to boot. The acting by the leads isn't realistic but instead is toned in an awkward way that fits the comedy of the film. Some of the shooting and editing aren't close to perfection but the film has heart and is good!

This movie was well put together! The plot was suspenseful and the cinematography got the story across well. There are moments of acting that stand out as not perfect to the story but it doesn't spoil the twists and turns to come!

This film had unique captivating cinematography. It was raw and yet full of emotion and artistic intent. The film is currently on festival circuit and had it's premiere delayed due to COVID-19 so I highly recommend catching it once it's out!

This show is in the vein of other thriller anthology shows like Twilight Zone and Black Mirror. The episodes are shorter and among them is some humor as well. Intriguing plots! The indie feel of the movie is welcomed but I know with a second season there would be much improvements to some of the more raw elements.

This was a passion project with heart. Sometimes the acting is not up to par with the other elements of production like cinematography but the performances bring across the emotion of the story well. It's a positive story with a great score as well. The main kid was also quite good and I would like to see his skills build with time!
