Velma (2023– )

Best Scooby-Doo story to date!

This comes in right after the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo as the best Mystery Inc story! Fun writing and great casting make this a home run! I grew up watching every Scooby-Doo series over and over, this show makes good on every story that was ever hinted at in yhe original few series. It's like the writers knew all of the fan theories we grew up with and made sure to give them real substance! I'm so glad this got made, makes me want to go back and rewatch all of the other Scooby-Doo shows just to regain enough context to enjoy this version even more on subsequent viewings! Just like The Last of Us HBO manages to really nail another adaptation!

The Batman (2022)

The Animated Series come to life

I've enjoyed other Batman movies, but the Paul Dini helmed series has always been my favorite. This is the first live action film that has the soul of TAS and brings the characters and the city of Gotham to life. Robert Pattinson, who I've never seen in a movie before, seems to completely disappear into the role of Wayne/Batman. Paul Dano's take on The Riddler could have more appropriatly namd Anarky, but was chilling and wonderful to watch. Film like the Dark Knight might be a better stand alone movie, but this is really The Batman. Other movies adapt the character to the big screen, this one just gives me the Batman I grew up with.

Rick and Morty: Juricksic Mort (2022) Season 6, Episode 6

Always the perfect mix of stupid and smart

99% of the time this show satisfies both the part of my brain that loves 3 Stooges slapstick and the part that loves Marx Brothers wordplay. This episode is no exception, giving us a god like benefactor and showing humanity as unable to accept a utopia. Every series has its ups and downs but here we are in season 6 and I haven't seen one episode of Rick and Morty I would rate lower than an 8. Even at it's lowest point the writers of this series keep to a standard I've rarely seen. No matter the situation they manage to stay true to the characters, allowing them to learn and grow without taking away their hilarious shortcomings.

Candyman (2021)

I prefer the original movie only slightly! This film expands on the Candyman mythos in a way every other sequel failed. It's an exciting exploration of the power of myth and the idea that we create our own monsters!

Love Island (2015– )

I've never enjoyed a reality show before, the male and female contestants are all more sweet and amusing than I'd expect for such beautiful people, lol.

Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)

Completely recreates the original experience!

At 39 years old this show gives me all the feelings and excitement I remember from the original series as a child! What a great homage to the original show while also standing on its own as a great work!

John Hodgman brings together so many of my favorite voice actors and comedians with the hilarious tale of a 40-somethtng Encyclopedia Brown that never found his way as an adult.

Bob is the perfect butt of the joke

Bob takes a plethora of physical and emotional pratfalls proving as always, the more you hurt someone without killing them the funnier it is!
