Jai Ho (2014)
"Jai Ho" proves that, a movie promising to deliver a social message can actually be a pure crap......!!!!
1st half of the movie is like a bunch of TV adds with social messages, which tries to motivate us but fails miserably.... In the 2nd half it's more of an masala movie but neither anything new nor entertaining.... The movie is actually a total mess trying to adopt both social message theme & masala genre. There are few comic scenes, in fact a single comic scene which tries to make us laugh through out the movie, is good at first but becomes repetitive... There is no connection between the social theme and action scenes shown in the movie... some action sequences are good where as some are pathetic..
In terms of acting, there are a lot of actors but none of them actually leaves a mark.. The child artist( son of Tabu) is the only one to leave his mark...It's like The movie is crowded with actors but all you can hear is only noise..
Direction of the movie is pathetic and Sohail Khan should retire from direction...It could have been a good movie but Sohail ruined it completely....!!
Cinematography is good and camera work is good too and does it's best work promote as much brand as possible...!!
Songs are kind of OK, but the placements of the songs are horrible and actually it bores u more than it entertains...
On the whole it's one of the worst movies i have ever seen and in the promise of delivering a social message it's a sore bore....!!
1/10 for me...........
P.S- Don't waste your money & time watching this movie.. Neither you will be entertained nor will receive any message...!!!
Dhoom:3 (2013)
Dhoom: 3 is GOOD but NOT PERFECT....!
Let me start with the best thing about Dhoom: 3, it is a long movie i.e over 2 hours 30 min but the movie manages keep you involved till the end.
The effect and effort of Aamir shows clearly in the movie but the movie is NOT PERFECT. Each & Every action Sequence starts with a bang and to be honest, are very entertaining but not convincing..! The entry scene in which Abhisek comes in an Auto out of a wall but the Auto remains scratch/dent free...!! The action sequences of Aamir are very good but somehow a little unconvincing..! Another strange thing about the movie is how two Indian cops suddenly investigating a robbery case in Chicago just because the robber is an Indian..!
But despite these short comings the movie has many good parts too. Each & Every emotional scenes are boon to the movie. They are beautifully picturised and acted . The camera-work of the movie is superb. There are some good twists which keeps the interest going.
Aamir is superb and definitely the heart and soul of the movie. He is very impressive as always. Katrina looks great and she is very good in her small role but she deserved much more screen space. Abhisek is good and so as Uday. Music is good from Pritam. But the direction of Vijaya Krishna Acharya lacks perfection.Even he adapted few scenes from Hollywood.
On the whole, Dhoom 3 lacks thrill & could have been perfect with better direction but Aamir saves the movie and gives a reason to end the year with DHOOM..!
Definitely a one time watch...
7/10
Shuddh Desi Romance (2013)
Shuddh Desi Romance is neither SHUDDH DESI nor ROMANTIC..!!
i had a really high expectation from this movie considering the promos, cast, music and directer (pretty much everything about the movie was good enough to create a high expectation). But the movie is really far below my expectations. Story line falls apart in the movie and in the climax you will feel that this is a rare mindless romantic movie in bollywood !!!There is not a single moment in the movie which is truly enjoyable apart from couple of songs !!
First of all, this movie is about or what the director tries to portray is how young Indian generation reacts to live-in-relationship. In the movie the relationship triangle between the three main leads develops quite well but fails to sustain when the relationship turns to marriage and GOD knows why it turns towards marriage. There is too much bathroom scenes in the movie which are it's milestones but they are not quite enjoyable. The story messes up between these relations and in the end lives you with nothing.
Secondly, the so called romance between the three main leads are being shown with the help of a lot of kiss scenes and bathroom scenes !!! there is not a single heart touching romantic moment in the movie. Bollywood is famous for it's mindless masala movies but it's a quite rare mindless romantic movie in bollywood. The movie is based on three youngsters from Rajasthan but it failed to show the beauty of some great cities of Rajasthan.
In terms of acting Sushant, Parineeti and Vani, all plays their character really well but the problem is their characters are not given justice in the movie. Hence despite some good acting they fail to provide some quality entertainment. Rishi Kapoor as a supporting cast, also has an average performance.
Direction is pretty bad and way below expectation. The director tries to portray the live-in-relation issue in Shuddh Desi style but he fails badly to do so.
Music is the only good part of the movie. Gulaabi and the title song are really good.
Cinematography is strictly average and fails to present the beauty of Jaipur.
so on the whole it is a big disappointment for me and i even doubt that it's a one time watch or not.
3/10 for me..!!
P.S- if u want to watch Dhoom 3 teaser on the big screen then only go for this one !!!
Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara! (2013)
OUATIMD rides on its dialogues and Akshay Kumar....!!!
Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobara starts with it's superb dialogues and that is the USP of the movie. Through out the movie loads of dialogues will be fired towards you but the good thing is you will enjoy all the dialogues. It's not a complete gangster flick like the previous movie. As shown in the trailer it has its romantic moments & the movie drags sometimes in between those moments. But again the dialogues will keep u occupied. In terms of story line the movie is just fine and could have been better. But it's the performance of the lead actors that will force to overlook the average script. The Retro look of the movie is great & some intelligently directed scenes holds the story together.
In terms of acting Akshay Kumar steals the show with the help of some great dialogues. He is great as VILLAIN and shows his versatility as an actor. Sonakshi Sinha does her job quite well and imran khan shines as the HERO of the movie. Supporting characters are also good.
Direction of Milan Luthria is good but could have been better.
Cinematography is great and the movie bring back the 80's and 90's era quite well.
Music is good, though the music of it's prequel had it's own charm. But this one doesn't disappoint either.
Overall it's a good movie but it's dialogues and performances(specially of Akshay) makes it a great one.
8/10 for me.
P.S- watch out for 2 sec guest appearance of Vidya Balan..!!
Chennai Express (2013)
Disappointing as Expected.....!!!
After watching Chennai Express I realized that this movie is almost a typical Bollywood masala movie but it's not entertaining either. In the 1st half the train scene is good and that is the most interesting part of the movie according to me. But after that the movie drags in a big way. apart from few funny moments nothing is enjoyable. I almost can predict most of the scenes before its appearance on screen! The action in the movie is horrible. Especially in the last fighting scene, SRK(Rahul) can't defeat the villain (%$#^&) only by strength and courage as shown in the movie. Instead of that the director could have invented some tricky ideas for defeating the villain. if not by strength RAHUL only could have defeated the villain by his mind. Another scene which is ridiculous for me was the Another scene when TANGABALI is dragging deepika from a village they are hiding, but both SRK and DEEPIKA are palying anthakshari. MINDLESS.
Also there is very less space for the supporting character in the movie. which is a negative point for me. But the best thing about the movie is it's locations and cinematography.
In terms of acting SRK acts as well as overacts. DEEPIKA is very good. and other supporting characters doesn't get a fair chance to act.!!
Music is strictly average for the movie. My favorite songs are Titli, Tera Rasta Chodu Na, Chennai Express. Disappointed with no music videos for the title track.
Rohit Shetty's direction is below average and predictable. Cinematography is great in the movie
so overall this movie will collect huge money as this type of movies works well in India. but for me it's just a one time watch.
BELOW AVERAGE 5/10
P.S - SRK shouldn't be doing these types of movies any more. Instead he should be doing more of Swadesh, Chak de India, Veer Zara!!
