The 58th Annual Tony Awards (2004)
I wish I had could have been there
I was so very very happy when I got the news that Hugh won the Tony from the Boy from Oz, and his performance in Oklahoma certainly deserved the nomination award. However, what ever film he appears in he has this extra ordinary talent to bring so much to a character that there are Oscars out there waiting for him I am sure. It needs the right director with a GOOD SCRIPT and he will do the rest. I have managed to acquire all of his films with the exception of two and they have been very enjoyable - and his input in each film has brought that film to the fore. He is so very astute in working on characterisation. I have not managed to see Van Helsing yet - I have not been able to manage it - but I will.
HOW ABOUT AFTER THE Oscar FOR AN EXCELLENT FILM WE GO FOR A MUSICAL FILM SAY PHANTOM OF THE OPERA - THERE ARE MANY GOOD MUSICALS BUT I CANNOT PUT A NAME ONE A BETTER ONE THAN OKLAHOMA AT THE MOMENT - I WILL WORK ON IT. what do you think ? aS Trevor Nunn said 'There are many good musicals - but not many to revisit'
GOOD LUCK TO YOU HUGH, AND dEBORRA AND Oscar I HOPE THAT LIFE REWARDS YOU AS YOU DESERVE.

Swordfish (2001)
Good action film. Acting honours must go to Hugh Jackman
Very good action film - quite an opening and the flying bus was certainly a switch. The scenes I liked the best was the ad lib in front of the computer where he was trying to find the worm. There are very few who could pull that one off and be convincing. The other scene was with his daughter Holly - I found this moving from both Hugh and Camryn Grimes. A difficult scene to play for both Hugh and Camryn but it was excellent. The young lady is an actress in the making and the bonding of love between the father and daughter was both touching and loving - made me shed a tear.
Keep it up Hugh - you have an amazing talent. Sure want to see you get those Oscars.

I wish they would show this on British TV
Having read the comments, which are very favourable, it would be nice to see this on our own TV - as we have with other Australian series.
I can only imagine how good he was. I first saw Hugh live in London and was very impressed with the extent of his talent. It was quite some time later that I discovered he had started to make films. So I have collected what I can but I cannot get "Paperback Hero" or "Standing Room" - anybody know of any copies around ?
Every film that I have seen he always takes the acting credit. Being a stage actor he can bring so much more to the screen. So many 'small' touches that bring the performances to the fore. He is a real professional I really loved KATE & LEOPOLD. The theme music of the film is lovely and I would have loved to have heard Hugh Sing "Until" which won an Oscar. Pity about Meg's hair she too is a very talented lady but the hair spoilt the character.
