Ghosts (2021)
Excellent!
Being an avid fan of the British series I was a little apprehensive about one set in a different country. I should not have worried. It stays true to the 'spirit' of the original. The characters are just as diverse and the script as sharp (although I do miss Mary). Some of the threads of the US version are the same as the British version, but there are some funny new ideas and situations. I particularly like the introduction of different ghosts in settings other than the house.
I know that, sadly, there will not be another UK series (mind you, they said that about Dr Who) but there are lots of countries in the world, lots of old houses and lots of ghosts.
Well done, all concerned.
Anatomy of a Scandal (2022)
Dizzy
The 'clever' camera work in episode 3 made me feel dizzy. I hope it doesn't happen in any future episodes or I shall have to stop watching.
Up till episode 3 it seems an unremarkable storey that would have been better told in a couple of hours.
I will try another episode but not sure if I will stick with it.
Close to Me (2021)
Not bad, not brilliant
Maybe I move in the wrong circles, but I don't know any family that swears as much as that one. Got on my nerves after a while. The plot started off well, but missed the mark. I haven't read the book so I don't know if it was true to the original story.
Lupin (2021)
I thought it was very enjoyable
I really enjoyed it and found it very entertaining.
W glebi lasu (2020)
Dubbing!
I am disappointed that this is yet another dubbed series. The added American voices are flat and unbelievable. I wish Netflix would stop doing this. What is wrong with the authenticity of other languages. I presume this is done for the America market under the apprehension that they are incapable of reading subtitles.
Yet another promising series that I have stopped watching.
Peur sur le lac (2020)
How ironic
This came out in January 2020. Who would gave believe we would have been living it four months later?
Interesting to see how the script writers dealt with the threat of a pandemic and the contrast between fiction and fact.
It was only six episodes. Would that the real thing was over as soon.
