Time Addicts (2023)

A waste of 'time'!
10 May 2024
Why did I watch the whole movie? So that you don't have to! I usually love any kind of time travel movie, but this one is truly terrible! And why did I give it a '1'? To counter the reviews here with '10', as they are fake which you can easily verify because the reviewers don't have any other reviews on IMDb.

The dialogues are stupid, annoying and full of expletives, for which there is absolutely no reason as it spoils the movie even more. The poor actors probably just followed the pointless and dumb script, which makes you wonder whether the writer has ever written anything that makes remotely sense. It's about drug users who are getting into a time travel dilemma (no spoiler here) which is neither believable nor conclusive.

Most time travel movies have some sort of plot holes or illogical twists, but 'Time Addicts' is just messy and annoyingly haphazard. The movie is set in a dark and dank house where all the time travel happens, which is attempting to set a somber tone, but it's not helping. Save your time and watch anything else, you'll thank me! I wish I had a time-travelling crystal in order to get 90 minutes of my life back.

Tiny Beautiful Things: Love (2023)
Season 1, Episode 8

Love it is!
27 February 2024
I started watching this show because I love Kathryn Hahn and almost everything.she is in. This show she is absolutely outstanding in, not only does she deliver a standout performance throughout, she also establishes herself as an amazing character actor with depth and vulnerability, especially by displaying a lot less humour than I had anticipated. The story about her in the present and two past tenses finds its poignant and extremely moving climax in this episode. I just love how the jigsaw puzzle of her character's journey is coming together in this final episode. You don't get all the answers and there is not an all encompassing conclusion, but ultimately the answer is indeed "LOVE'.

Reacher: Fly Boy (2024)
Season 2, Episode 8
5/10
Lacking credibility
19 January 2024
Well that was disappointing and I don't just mean the episode but the whole second season. I have never read any of the books and after this season I am even less likely to do that in the future.

Whilst the first season seemed somewhat fresh and natural, the second season turned into a farce with an overly construed plot and unbelievable story developments left, right and centre.

Silly (repetitive) comments en masse: 'In an investigation assumptions kill' and 'We have a lot more killing to do' as prime examples that undermine serious credibility. Reacher who insists on being called just 'Reacher' has literally become a caricature of himself with an expressionless Botox face and a very pretentious walk. So sad!

The scene in the helicopter with Langston (Robert Patrick) is one of the most ridiculous sequences I have seen in a long while, where he is literally single handedly saving Neagley from falling to her death...

Season 3 has already been green-lit, but it's not a believable crime drama that will see me returning as a viewer.

Juice (2023– )

Surreal, silly, inventive, random, funny!
13 October 2023
It's a worthy and entertaining watch!!! There are beds or walls opening up, people speaking on mobile phones suddenly appear next to each other and stepping into a black and white movie. There is a lot of comedy to enjoy, visually as well as verbally, so much tongue in cheek. Russel Tovey plays the boyfriend every gay man wants to have, Jamma actually has him but doesn't seem to fully appreciate him.

Not only tackles the show gay relationships, it also deals with interracial challenges, stereotypical prejudices and inevitable family tension.

Mawaan Rizwan is funny, creative and not afraid to go full slapstick, his haircut anyone? Crazy coloured jogging style outfits? This is a fun show, it won't be for everyone, but having only just started I think he has a great future ahead of him.

Deadloch (2023– )
3/10
Pointless and too cringy
7 June 2023
It's funny for just a moment, but gets silly, pointless and very annoying very quickly. There is a place for comedy in the world of crime, but 'Dead Loch' is not where you can find it. Especially with the appearance of detective Eddie Redcliffe the show goes downhill, it's painfully cringy at times and doesn't manage to pull off Brooklyn Nine Nine vibes. Sadly the characters are just caricatures of themselves, they don't appeal or seem like actual people, language is also an issue (and I don't mean the Australian accent). When I watched the trailer I thought the show had potential, but watching the first episode made me realise that the writers were trying too hard and unfortunately failed miserably in delivering something entertaining or mildly amusing.

Succession: Connor's Wedding (2023)

Full Frontal Intensity!
10 April 2023
Just WOW! Succession has always been a very intense TV show with outstanding writing and extraordinary acting, this episode soars to new heights. I would challenge anyone who has seen this episode and has not rated it a '10'. Actually I would definitely go higher than '10' if I only could!

The dynamics between the siblings are sharper and more emotional than ever before, particularly because of the traumatic event they are going through. All of the cast bring an intensity to the screen that makes your hair stand up and your heart pound faster. The intimate cinematography adds to the breathtaking experience, this is TV drama at its very best!

It's the real deal!
16 January 2023
There have been numerous articles and reviews about how good this video game adaptation supposedly is, and they couldn't be more applicable. Having played (and absolutely loved) the game, I, as everyone else, had high expectations, and they have certainly been met. I am more than happy to grant artistic license to the producers allowing the addition of new characters to the story, especially when they make it so much better like Anna Torv does. The tense and apocalyptic atmosphere is immediately palpable and genuinely transcends from the game. The cinematography takes you right in there, especially in the car scene when Joel is trying to get away with his brother and daughter, which actually gives the breathtaking cinematic scene quite a bit of a video game experience. Can't wait for the next episodes!

Don't get the hype.
13 December 2022
What am I missing here? Flat characters, extremely boring storytelling and lacklustre performances all over. Also less than impressed by the production quality for a show that should have had a rather big budget to draw from? I struggled to maintain any interest in what is going here, but ultimately failed miserably. Couldn't finish the first episode as I was close to dying of boredom. I had this on my watchlist for a while and decided to watch the first episode and see what the fuss is all about. I can now safely remove this from my list, never to be watched again. Rating episode 3.33 with a 3 seems rather appropriate.

Terrible is an understatement!
22 September 2022
This has gone downhill very, very fast.... Whilst I thought the first episode was watchable and somewhat amusing, the second one was questionable with mostly cringe worthy sketches and in very poor taste (you know which sketches I am talking about). Now the third one is just plain awful and not only badly written, but pathetically acted as well. I didn't laugh once, what on earth do they consider funny?!? I only hear blablablabla. Why is there still such a a high rating for the episode and the actual show, I don't get it... There really is no joke in this episode at all, I think that's the end of it for me, what a waste of time...

Sublime Storytelling
9 August 2022
It may not be everybody's cup of tea, but the storytelling of Ursula's life is intriguing and deeply emotional. She continues to subconsciously change the course of her life whilst we know why and how things would have turned out. It's really a great drama, with excellent acting and imagination on so many levels. Slow at times, yes, but it makes you question decisions in your own life - and how many times we may have died already...?!?

Carter (2022)
8/10
Insane action, unique cinematography!
6 August 2022
If you know what you are letting yourself in for (i.e. Mindless action, quite a bit of splatter and extremely cool cinematography) then this is it! The story is a bit haphazard and incoherent, but puts you right in the action and doesn't let you down or even breathe at times! Carter would love to be seen as one continuous shot, but the editing falls short at times. However, the cinematography effortlessly switches between life action and CGI (which is noticeable at times), but it doesn't take anything away from the fun the editors must have had putting all the scenes together. And yes, it feels like playing a slightly too long and repetitive video game, but you are still breaking the high score, it's engaging and a lot of fun!

Intense? Yes. - Intriguing? No
31 July 2022
I wanted to give this a go because of Andrew Garfield, who needless to say is an awesome actor, but the story here doesn't captivate me at all. It's all about the LDS/Mormon lifestyle, beliefs and intricacies that some may see as an interesting backstory, but I'm really not into it. I am neither interested in who the killer is, nor how he or she will be found out, it's just not different or captivating enough..

Elvis (2022)

Too little of too much!
1 July 2022
Unfortunately I can't recommend the movie, I am quite disappointed actually and here's why: The movie shows Elvis' journey, but tells very little about his life. Why he has a love for 'negro' music is covered only briefly and never given the right emphasis. In fact the musical element remains shockingly underwhelming, I failed to connect with the songs, which was actually my main impetus to see the movie (nothing like 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or 'Rocket Man'). There is hardly anything about his relationship with his parents and Pricilla basically just appears, nothing much about their challenging marriage. The army period in Germany is a side note and his pills addiction comes across as superficial at best. Had they shortened the movie and concentrated more on 3 or 4 key elements of his life, it would have been so much better. The best scene of the movie is the last one actually, an already broken Elvis singing 'Unchained Melody', shame this idea wasn't maximised throughout the movie.

Pretty decent, but...
17 June 2022
Still waaaayyyyyy better than 'StarTrek Discovery' (which I don't watch anymore) and 'Picard', which is just plain terrible and people will only watch season 3 because of the TNG team regrouping. However, 'The Orville' has decent writing, competent actors and excellent special effects, but the fun is gone!!! - Bring back the silliness and spoof elements that made season 1 (and part of season 2) so fresh and watchable.

The yawning continues...
8 June 2022
Where were the writers when this series was put together? And how did Ewan McGregor get paid for playing a character in a vacuous spin-off of a hugely successful sci-fi saga? And why am I still watching this total cr@p? Ahhhh... so that I can submit an informed review of a blatantly pathetic part IV of 'Stupi No Kenobi'. There's definitely no FORCE here, look elsewhere...

If this wasn't labelled Star Wars, no one would watch it!
27 May 2022
Uneventful and stilted to say the least. Within the wider Star Wars Saga I am sure this has a place somewhere, but it certainly doesn't deserve it's own TV show. Feels like an episode of a soap opera filmed in a sandy warehouse, if you expect action or drama you are in the wrong place.

No suspense, no drama, barely sci-fi
26 May 2022
Sloooooooooooow, booooooooring, lacklustre and similar adjectives are applicable here. It's not a compelling watch at all, flat character development and the story doesn't seem to have a beginning and undoubtedly won't have an end. Acting is ok, but the writing is uninspired and not worthy of a TV show. Save your time and watch something else...

Such a let down from season 1
21 May 2022
It feels like the writers were desperately trying to come up with another time travel story, which just falls flat on its face. Ouch indeed!!! It's uninspired and mainly a cigarette/smoking commercial all the way through. Especially infuriating because it's about a pregnant woman recklessly smoking all the time and therefore damaging her own self... in summary: pointless, lacklustre and just a waste of time.

Terrible!
9 May 2022
Too long, too boring, badly acted and lacking drive and especially story. Giving it 2 stars because of Bruce Davidson and Malcom McDowell for the computer voice. Don't make any more episodes, it would be a crime on humans and whales!

Much better than the low rating!
11 April 2022
This movie creeped me out much more than I thought it would and maybe much more than it should have done. Ok, it's not a sci-fi movie as such, but a very solid psychological suspense thriller that kept me unnerved (in a WTF? Good kind of way) for the entire second half of the movie. Some people didn't like the ending, but based on the storyline and decent pacing I was not disappointed and really enjoyed it!

Lacking freshness and imagination
29 March 2022
This is turning out just like season 1, increasingly bad writing, boring storytelling and silly character development. WHY?!? Do the writers really not have enough imagination to come up with a worthy Star Trek storyline? After the disaster that ST Discovery turned into, my last hope is on now 'Strange New Worlds'...

Nothing's happening!!!!!
15 February 2022
I don't get it, why the high ratings?!?!?! I started the show with episode 1 and thought the story was boring and the characters lacklustre, therefore I didn't continue to watch. When I read the Mandalorian was featured in this episode I thought I would give it a go, but there is NOTHING happening in this episode - NOTHING! - just a feeble lightsaber fight and a ship trial run. How can people rave about this episode, have they all been paid?!?! Shocking...

Like a bad, illegal VHS copy of Star Wars...
5 February 2022
It's just TERRIBLE!!!!!! The script is lacking everything (sorry Jon Favreau, what were you thinking?), the creatures are pathetic, the acting is lacklustre and the appeal is zero, it doesn't look or feel like Star Wars at all, it's a C-Movie kind of production that you want to skip to the end to. And that's what I will have to do, since Disney doesn't let you remove shows from 'Continue Watching', which I won't do (i.e. Continue watching). Not worth your time or money!

8utt#0le humour
28 January 2022
I actually really like Will Forte as a person and admire Kristen Wiig's quirky personality, but the level of humour here is mediocre at best. Not only are there too many embarrassing butt jokes, but we unnecessarily get to see MacGruber's actual butt as well. The dialogues are far from witty or relatable, the writing must have been done by 12-year old boys. This 'revival' would have been mildly funny in the 80's, but sadly it's poor entertainment value is disqualifying itself from the genre of comedy. I won't waste anymore time on watching further episodes, humour has evolved and needs to look different now, sorry Will!

Taste is getting poorer
22 January 2022
This is not what it used to be, the show was touching and tenderly funny before, now it is just repetitive and mocking minorities (looks, sexual orientation and practices). Yes, Ricky Gervais has always done that, but it doesn't really fit within the concept and spirit of the show. Example: the swinger club reporting and the towel 'dripping' with memories... really?!?!? - It's just as well that this is the last season.
