The Last Airbender (2010)
Don't listen to the negative reviews!
This is a near perfect film. I actually am a HUGE fan of Avatar and this is even better than the original. I've already seen this film 100+ times and it just keeps getting better! M. Night Shyamalan is truly the Stanley Kubrick of our generation. 10/10.
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Seriously?
Why do these characters still look like cartoons? It's 2021. We should have more realistic versions of these characters by now. Just look at what they did with Clifford. Now THAT'S good filmmaking. Not this.
The Boss Baby: Family Business (2021)
The greatest film ever made.
This film is a masterpiece. The characters are awesome and the story is highly believable. This could definitely happen in real life! My only complaint is that the movie should have been longer. Also there needs to be more sequels.
Black Bear (2020)
Black Bear?
This is definitely a film that leaves you with more questions than answers. There are some high points in the acting, but, in the end, there is just way too much dialogue and not enough story. That being said, the strongest part of this film is Aubrey Plaza. She is fantastic in her role as Allison and the only reason I am rating this 7/10. If you watch this film for anything, watch it for Aubrey Plaza's performance.
Santa Jaws (2018)
Masterpiece.
In my opinion, this is the greatest film of the decade, and possibly, of all time.
Incredible acting. Characters you can relate to. Highly believable storyline. (The shark wears a Santa hat on his dorsal fin... sooo cute!)
I can't wait to watch this again! And maybe even every day, for the rest of my life. 10/10
Mother! (2017)
mother!
'mother!' is the darkest film Aronofsky has ever released. I went to see this film with hardly a clue of what it was about. What I watched unfold in front of me was beyond anything I have ever seen on film.
The acting is fantastic, particularly Michelle Pfieffer as the Woman, and Jennifer Lawrence who gives what I believe to be her bravest performance to date as Mother. Keep in mind that the film is an allegory, so expect a hefty amount of symbolism throughout. I don't want to give anything away, but just know that the climax for this film is completely insane.
You will either appreciate this film for what it is, or you'll find it pretentious. Either way, one thing is certain: You have never seen a film like 'mother!'.
Kimi no na wa. (2016)
Beautiful film.
I personally loved this film, though I admit I may need to watch it a second time to fully grasp everything I saw. The story is just so mind-boggling! You may end up recognizing some familiar concepts, but they are presented in a way that is not too "cliche" and without shoving romance in your face the entire time. Overall, Your Name is an unforgettable experience. It left me totally mystified. 10/10
