Weaker then the first two....
12 July 2006
I read some of the comments from people who rated high this movie... and what I gathered is that they loved it only because of the gore... which I agree that is far "worse" then in the previous two movies...

However I think the director missed the point : it's not about the gore but the way the deaths happen... In this movie the deaths lack the element of surprise that I enjoyed in the first 2..the deaths in this one are predictable, don't have anything "out of the ordinary" and somewhat "simple"

On a small note: while I do not give too much importance to the script when in comes to this kind of movies it did bothered me a little (no where near as much as Van Helsing's :))

It's not about crime...it's about fear
5 October 2004
I have read several comments and I have to say that they were rather good observations... However many have missed the point here....it's not about the rate of killing it's all about fear... It's true....everywhere in the world can happen something like Columbine or like 9/11(remember Spain?)...but between us europeans and the Americans there is one big difference: we are NOT afraid when walking down the street that someone might put a bullet in us.... And if someone says that Moore just talks and talks instead of proposing solutions my god they missed the whole point. The reasons are very clear : -the second amendment (legislation) -the fear instilled by media ( crime decreasing, yet gun sells are up) It's not about violent movies ( USA's ratings are a joke no offence but it ruins a movie), not about the music someone listens nor about "violent history"...boy if it would have been about violent history then us europeans should kill each other on daily basis... Bottom line:(Moore's points): change your way of thinking and you'll feel different...stop your government from interfering in other countries business and you'll see that no one will threaten you. And the message does not apply only to Americans it applies to all the world.

entertaining enough
14 September 2004
Hmm I have read several comments that pick on the story.... Okay I appreciate in a movie the story then the acting and only in the end the visual effects. But there is a great difference: this one has at least a story that is not annoying or plain stupid like in many movies of this genre (you all know ofc that when making movies like this (comedy, action etc) the story usually isn't a good one )... So the plot is enough to be considered an excuse for the film. The rest ..oh well it's Reno's job :) PS: Someone even complained that "hey everybody Reno meets Japan speaks french"...Bleah that's stupid it's like saying :" why everybody speaks English in Star Trek"

The worst movie I've seen
3 August 2004
This is without no doubt the worst movie I ever seen...For the life of me I can't understand why I could watch it entirely but maybe I was in an very very good mood....The plot is: A mother tries to save her daughter from a road killer cult....and that's about all you can make out of this movie...the rest is so stupid you have nothing to describe anymore....Watching it reminded me of the Van Helsing screenplay which I thought at that time was the worst of all...Well prepare to be happy: the screenplay for Octane beats it by far in stupidity and nonsense...The only thing that could keep you busy thinking at this movie is: Who was drunk/out of his mind ? the writer who produced this crap or the producer who approved it and payed the bills?

One of the best movies I have seen lately
28 July 2004
Warning: Spoilers
The title says it all...I do not wish to give spoilers here just to write what my sister said when she saw this movie :

"This is something you don't see in a movie"...well this is true: I have never saw something like this before... It's a shame movies like this go so quietly (no advertising for it) and instead we are served a lot of "entertaining" ,very low (below sea level I'd say) in quality terms, Hollywood movies.

My point is proved if you only check the number of reviews made here on IMDb or just check the number of votes given to this movie.

So if you haven't seen this movie yet go buy/rent it you will not be disappointed

Oh well...
11 May 2004
Very short since most of you covered everything -nice special effects(one very cool werewolf...a nice vampire...and some other thingies) -very well shooted -idiotic screenplay (Damn somebody shoot the writers coz it was one of the worst screenplay I ever seen put together) -acting? what acting? -accents:why the hell when making a movie about Transilvania we have to hear english with russian accent? Check the map as they are located differently... -Again shoot the writers ..they never heard of Bram Stoker... -funny? yeah you might laugh if the person next to you tickles you Overall? 5.5 is the perfect score: 10 for effects 1 for story PS The ending brought tears to my eyes..was soooo sleeepy
