How far our great have fallen
13 June 2018
When David Letterman cmae with a new show, I was excited. Then he started interviewing people who are subpar to him, because they are pouplar. I am talknig fdirst and foremost about Jay-Z. A ex drug dealer who is obsessed with the N-word. Letterman just sits there and takes it. Is this what the great Leterman has instore for us, then i´m not interested!

Imagine this without knowing what star wars is.
20 December 2015
What makes a movie good? The passion behind it. I am a huge angry video game nerd fan. However, I can acknowledge he made a bad movie. I think he can see that himself. However I could see the effort behind it. I could enjoy it for what it was. The same goes with Ed Wood. A terrible terrible director with possible the worst movie of all times. Still, it is worth seeing just to see the passion going down such a bad movie.

Now with passion directed the right way, the movie can be amazing. If you never seen Star wars before, you will see the effort put in to this movie. You will be curious to why it is so much passion behind it, where they got all the ideas from, how it all started. And you will find TONS and TONS of material to read and listen through.

Sadly if you know what Star wars is about, you know that the previous passionate soul that was behind the franchise became a sellout. He wanted to sell toys and make more money. He wanted to put his name in every aspect of the franchise to make money. He wanted to use CGI to save effort, instead of using CGI to enhance the movie experience.

That is why the franchise needed a fresh start. A new hope, going in a different direction. The negative aspect many people have is that it is too similar to the original without new ideas. I disagree. I see a lot of old content mixed with new stuff. I believe that JJ Abrams wanted to do with star wars what he previously done to Star Trek. Opening it to a new audience. Replacing bad stuff with new stuff. He sets his own tune yet honoring the past. Some say he played it too "safe" not taking risk. However, I see the risks he took, and it did work out well. There is no "safe" when it comes to taking over a franchise and bringing new life to it. There is no safety when you trying to persuade viewers that previously though Star Wars is about toys and kids, in reality has depth to it.

I loved this movie for all the right reasons. If I didn't know what Star Wars was, I would now be curious to see all of it. It had passion, effort, great scenery, a story leading forward, a mystery and chilling atmosphere. It had great characters, great dialogue, great action. This movie had it all.

Why not 10/10 then you might wonder. I was talking to a friend before I went to the cinema asking him if he like to go with me and see it. He said "i don 't want to go see a bunch of robots in space". I replied "they removed all of that nonsense". Sadly, (and i wont reveal to much here) some of that nonsense remained simply for fan service, which really took away that perfect score for me.

Finally I like to say, this movie has a heart of solid force! pun intended.

Emotionless
17 July 2015
I will say this is better then T3 and T4. However it does not hold up against T1 and T2. Before you see this movie, you have to ask yourself, what expectation do you have for T5. If you want a redeemer and see a good sequel for T2, you will be disappointed. Do you want to spend 2 senseless hours in-front of a big screen, you will have a descent time.

I liked the beginning, which shows a time line where sky-net started to blow up humanity in 1997. They pictured the future very well. We finally see how people get send back in time.

I had no problem with most of the casting and acting in this movie. Emilia Clarke was a good Sarah Connor. Jai Courtney was alright as Kyle Reese. i don't think he did a bad job. I really liked Jason Clarke as John Connor. I remember the young John from T2 and he was fun and cocky. I could see this in this future adaptation of John.

The problems in this movie is the plot holes, the cliché forced love scene (wich they themselves point out as being stupid during the movie), and sometimes bad chemistry between the leads. ¨ My biggest problem with this movie is Arnold Schwarzenegger and everything around his character. It was PAINFUL at times. Not funny, not catchy, not clever. Just embarrassing, shameful, pointless, emotionless. Arnold's one-liners where painfully bad. "old, not obsolete". "Not dead, upgraded". There was no terminator learning humans emotions threw Arnold's body. It was a old man trying to play something he is not.

In the end, when you add the finale, the characters, the message, you get only 1 word in your mind: Emotionless.

Justice League: Starcrossed (2004)
Season 2, Episode 24
10/10
Starcrossed is the name. Remember it!
14 April 2015
This is a review for the full 3 episode, because it should be watched as a full.

Have you seen the new superhero movies on the big screen yet? Do you like them? Yes? You will like this. Didn't you like them? Then you would LOVE this!

What is so special about these episodes you may ask. First, you really don't need to establish a back-story for the justice league. Even as a newcomer, you kinda know who is who and what they do just watching the intro. It's a basic team of superheroes doing superhero stuff. And that is the beauty of the plot here. It swoops in and really gets you go with it. Well written, well drawn, well established and well thought out characters.

Second, what I really like is that none of the heroes gets left out, wimps out or gets portrayed in a bad way. Superman and Batman, the most popular guys in the show, have actually little to do with the story in total. However, they stay true to what we know them for. Even if Hawkgirl plays a key-role here, she doesn't overshadow the rest for her own story, nor does her story gets in the way for the rest of the team. Its perfectly paced out and it is still feels like you are watching a full balanced team.

Third, Hawkman! Its not often you get an antagonist this good. Most movies today, especially a lot of superhero movies, cant compare to Hawkman in this. There is so much dignity into this guy, even when he is at his meanest. Its a joy to watch the last scenes with him. There is no redemption, no moral story, no cliché villain speeches. Everything this guy says, you feel he says it from his heart.

I also like that there is no real moral dilemma or value to be learned here. The voice actors deliver great dialog between the drawn characters that you sometimes forget you are watching a cartoon.

This is superheroes at its best. This is storytelling at its best. This is acting and anime at its best. For those who think this is only for kids, you are truly missing something. For those who think I might have a nostalgic value to this, I first saw this episode on you tube as an adult. Whenever I think of Justice League I think back to this episode and what it offered. I remember saying to myself "I wonder if they could remake this into a full action movie". The answer is no! Some things are better left for what they are. This one definitely stands out, and it still holds up very well to date.

Sometimes, you find something unexpected but beautiful
11 December 2014
The summary of this movie is a bit misleading. "A young girl gets curious after meeting with a blue haired woman". It is a coming to age movie. Watching High school movies and seeing the generic clichés over and over, this one really stands out. Nothing is put in to sugarcoat life. Its stripped down to the naked truth (litterally). Also, I like to warn about the nudity, porn scenes in this movie. Something that wasn't made clear in the summary.

Young Adele is also not as young, and that shows, especially in the physical aspect. But the actress portraits every emotion with grace. Something that makes the movie worth while. You get involved with her life and choices, you see her for who she is.

I can say that all actors, even though they are supposed to be young students, feels very real. And that is perhaps why this movie is so intriguing.

This is not Dantes Inferno
2 September 2014
I feel that many people gets drawn into this movie expecting something different. This is not a paranormal movie, nor a horror movie. Its a psychological thriller, with an occult undertone. A lot of the questions are left open to be answered by the viewer. It has a chilling atmosphere throughout the movie.

The characters succeed in getting the viewer involved with the story. You want to go around the next corner, flip the next page and learn more to reveal the mystery side by side with the antagonist.

I really enjoyed this movie, and had to re-watch it a couple of times to notice and focus on the small details that are easy to miss, but is in itself still interesting to investigate.

I cant really say who would like this movie. Most people that like these kind of movies already seen it or will find it due to curiosity. I know that people looking for a fast pace and a clear ending, or those who looking for a big revelation, wont like this movie.

I myself loved it and give it a very high rating. Its not timeless, but there's a charm looking back to a time before social media, Wikipedia and smart-phones.

12 years and I still get scared!
31 August 2014
I dare you to watch this movie and not be afraid of your own TV a week forward. Or at least look at it with caution. As if it would betray you. As if you are afraid to happen to see something you shouldn't have seen.

It doesn't matter how many times i see this movie, the atmosphere of it gives me the chills every time. The performance is flawless from everyone involved. It does not rely on cheap jump scares or shaky cam or the recent find footage trick. The find footage in the movie is actual find footage and is important to the story.

Many horror-movies tried to copy its formula for the years to come. Iwould say that even paranormal activity was inspired by it. All fails to comparison to the ring. Only one that came close was the grudge.

I've never seen the original Japanese version, but I never felt the need to do so after watching the remake, simply because I was satisfied and scared at the same time. A movie 12 years old that still captures you in the moment and gives you the chills. Thats an achievement!

Curb your taste for sinful art.
30 August 2014
Sin city is in short a masterpiece. A movie of its own that stands out. The sequel is not equally good, but it is a good sequel nonetheless. Questions unanswered from the first movie gets resolved and answered. It follows the same concept of short movies interacting with each other on a larger scale.

Of course alternations was made due to the 9 years apart of production. This affects the movie experience for the worse. Mickey Rourke isn't as ripped as in the first, its noticeable even though they try to cover it up. Alba is older, death of 2 actors that led to writing of a character and recast another.

As of recasting Dwight, I do welcome it, because I personally don't like Cliwe Owens acting in general. Josh Brolin really made the character of Dwight work for me and it was a joy seeing him portrayed in Art Noir form.

However, the best part of this movie spoke to my primate brain. Tits and ass. Art class porn. Amazing shots of boobs, boobs, and more boobs. Silhouettes of beautiful women bodies, in a mix of violence and gore in black and white, in the form of desperate characters in Sin city, made me love every minute watching the movie. In this, the sequel triumphs over the first. However, the pace, character development and story lines still holds true to the original.

I say go watch the movie, its not a bad one. Its almost 2 hours getting lost into the city of sin again.

This is on par with The dark knight
21 June 2014
Every now and then you get so much up into a movie you need to see it again on the big screen. I was dumb enough to go see the 2D version in a smaller cinema. There was some scenes clearly made for 3D animation and it didn't turn out that good in 2D. However, the movie in itself sucked me in enough to ignore that, and I could enjoy it without relying on cheap (figuretively) effects.

Last time I felt to revisit a movie so strongly on the big screen again was with The dark knight. It is that good. Of course being an x-men fan helps, but you can walk into this movie without knowing anything about the franchise and still enjoy it. I say this is a sequel to x- men first class. Bringing in wolverine is self explained in the movie.

This movie is a solid, great performance, great time, 9/10. Why not 10/10 giving it excellent? IT is excellent as a whole. But comparing Old Xavier to new Xavier, Old magneto to new magneto..they got outplayed by the younger generation. But that is really nitpicking. Since I saw x-men first class, which really defined the 2 leaders, Its hard to adjust back to the old actors.

The Legend of Korra: Light in the Dark (2013)
Season 2, Episode 14
I didn't care
22 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously didn't care and was stunned to see the low standard of creativity for the ending. This season had episodes that gave me chills and made me cry a happy tear, but the ending didn't deliver the promise. Very rushed, "insert hot-fix here" mode. It didn't get me engaged in the solution, made me question all logic and left me with wishes for a remake asap.

There is also a strong feeling the producers of this show take too much in concern about what the fan-base wanted to see. The result with trying to put small request threw the whole ending was a bad decision in my opinion. On the bright side, there is one scene with a easter-egg for those who follower Avatar - the last airbender series. There is an answer to something not addressed until now.

The Legend of Korra: Beginnings, Part 1 (2013)
Season 2, Episode 7
Lets review the first part as well
19 October 2013
Seems like everyone is talking about the second part, but lets not forget the first part as well. It was a masterpiece combined, and as a standalone episode I was thinking "they not going to make it in time". The feeling when you know you need to see more but the 22 minutes isn't enough. Luckely us fans didn't need to wait to see the rest of this awesome tale.

This episode did everything to catch and enchant its audience right from the start. They ditched Korra (joke). Instead they gave us a back-story about a young teenager named Wan, trying to change his world. Thrue events of his life he battles and befriends spirits, humans and learns to master the element of fire to survive in the wilds. It is explained how this back-story is important to the current LOK season as well as it shows how different the world was before the era of the Avatar.

Don't watch it if you're not a real Star Trek fan, on second thought ?
13 May 2013
Saw it in 3D with a real Star trek fan. I hated this movie, he loved it. I was surprise coming home and see so many trekkers disappointed too.

I was never in too Star Trek, Inm y opinion the whole universe is so stupid and so pointless, over the top and exhausting. So I was really surprised how Star Trek (2009) took me by storm. It really came with something different and new, as well as honoring the old stuff. I was happy to see such cool effects again on the big screen, with a great story and characters very believable.

Sadly, Star Trek: into darkness had none of that! It was the plain old bull from the old star trek with different faces. 10 minutes into the movie and I was getting bored and thought I was watching pirates of the Caribbean in space, regretting spending my money.

The plot is overdone, too complicated to follow. The shots gave me a headache, especially in 3D, and character development leading nowhere.

I cant say the acting was bad though, however the lines were poorly written. The cast did a really good job with the work given to them. Simon Pegg was great. His character got some great development, sadly we see too little of him. John Cho was also great, sadly he suffers the same faith as Simon Pegg.

But acting cant save an entire film. The cast are literally loyal to the sinking ship.

If you enjoyed the first movie, and otherwise don't care about Star Trek, Don't WATCH THIS!

Really, 8.2? For what?
8 October 2012
I am trying to be fair and not give it more or less then this movie deserves. 4 of 10 is fair. This movie should be released straight to DVD. Too many plot holes, weird explanations and the sci-fi technology looks to belong in the 80's.

The loop in my head is stuck on many of the plot holes and how people rate this so high. It is perhaps because it was a long time since a movie like this was released, and its nice to see something refreshing. But it doesn't do it for me. If I could time-travel, I would tell myself this movie isn't worth the money, thus saving myself 2 hours of time.

Of course this leaves me in the paradox, because not seeing the movie i wouldn't know if it suck or not, therefore I couldn't go back in time with that knowledge. And this paradox I made up makes more sense then the paradoxes and plot holes in the movie.

I don't get it!
27 September 2012
I have to say, for all the hype this movie have I had to see it. I never liked the Cohen brothers movies. So this is no exception. I think its bad. Boring, not intriguing and forgettable characters. The only not forgettable character is the psychopath with he weird hair. And he doesn't convince me as the bad guy. YES, I don't think he does a convincing job! They call it western. I've seen a lot better westerns, even modern time westerns. Is it disturbing? Not really. Cohen brothers always try to take a dark turn into the humanity of peoples choices. I will never get it,nor will I see the brilliance of there movies. I don't believe that human nature is that black and white in the core, with lots of shade of Gray in the everyday mans choices. It feels so simplified.

I like to compare the villain in NCFOM with the villains in the dark knight. Now, heath ledgers joker was a masterpiece! Even though it was never explained why or how he became the joker, he was believable and you believed the oriented chaos within him. In that aspect, the Mexican fails. It tries to be explained bit about the mental instability from the Mexican in the movie, but its so vague you never get invested to try understand him. In that sense I compare the Mexican to two face/Harvey Dent. Both have the "create own luck" by flipping a coin. However, Harvey Dent was explained and we invested a lot of time into knowing him. Try to imagine Two face without build up. You might end up with tommy lee Jones bad joker make over from batman forever. And this is my main problem with the Mexican. Although not a joker impression, he is thrown in to the movie, no sense behind it. And what we see is just an empty shell acting from a manuscript.

So would i recommend this movie? I have my thoughts about it. However, if you like the Cohen brothers then I would say watch it. If you don't, its not worth your time.

This movie made me angry
16 June 2012
This movie was suppose to be a horror. Not a mockery of 25 years post disaster. But seeing this with critical eyes, and knowing how the director wants to scare his audience I couldn't feel anything but anger.

First of, the movie portrait the Ukraine as a country with bad perople.

Second, Its not nice for the director to implement that something is still going on post sovjet time around chernobyl and the nuclear disaster.

Third, just as paranormal activity, the movie ends blunt and you get no explanation to what just happened or why. If it was a normal horror movie I wouldn't get upset. But in a movie about a importent historical event like this, I believe the director payed very little respect to the tragedy of Chernobyl and its victims.

The save in this movie are the actors. Very good and believable reactions. Too bad the movie itself made no sense and a mockery of the scene.
