Aterrados (2017)
Magnificent!
This is literally one of the best horror movies i ve ever seen in my entire life and for some years now. I ve been watching all the hollywood stuff with so many cliches that i could tell what would happen in every scene.
Aterrados on the other hand follows a different path in direction with not as many jump scares as in other american horror films. Jump scares to be honest add nothing to the genre and it is the easy way and the shortcut to scare/surprise someone. A jump scare can make u jump even in a comedy.
But Aterrados builds up tension with every day scenes such as the one in the beggining. It gives us raw facts that something is actually happening without the clumsy jumpscares. It freaks u out with the ideas it creates and u keep imagining what that man and woman would actually feel like?!
A brilliant horror film with haunting ideas that will live in ur head for a lomg time.
Promenons-nous dans les bois (2000)
A total waste of time
This was one of the worst "horror" films i ve have ever watched. And i ve seen a looooot of them.
Terrible writting so so so terrible, actors that act like they forgotten the script they keep staring amd staring in the void, scenes soooo slowly shot that at some point it got on my nerves.
Irrational behaviors of the actors like when the kid stabs himself and the buttler sits the girl down by force, the next thing they should do is argue with the guest pack their things and go. And instead we see them having sex laying down naked like nothing happened.
And the turn of events is so childish. I mean the killer is the one who cant walk?! Oh who would have thought?!
There is a greek comedy series called Crimes/Eglimata thats has exactly the same plot at the end lol!
Just dont watch it. Please...
A Classic Horror Story (2021)
Another slasher with irrational characters' decisions
I have to acknowledge that the photography is great in that movie but just that. All else was kinda a disaster. But lets take things from the beggining.
The director does constantly "creepy" things to keep the intherest high but many times this feels forced and unexplainable.
Is it a torture movie a splatter or what?! The torturer decide to break each of the first victims ankles only to kill him seconds later ?! And why the actor doesnt scream from pain like it is his last breath when they pierce his eyes?! I wear contact lenses and when something goes wrong it gives me immense amounts of pain. And i dont have to mention that he already sufferes the pain from his ankles.
Later on, they find some abandoned cars probably belonging to some earlier victims. And they do what?! They fight each other, and the protagonist enters one car with the rescued girl having a needless cheesy moment like all is calm and nice. Well guess what?! It isnt. They are being chased by some lunatics. This scene feels so much out of place. They act like they have all the time in the world.
And the the doctor takes a small pipe and acts like he is cutting some vines with a machette in a jungle!!!
Moving on, we see cliche scenes like the one that they wonder in the woods the day after the first one was killed. And they end up back in the cabin. When u want to go as far as possible from something u just walk a straight line away from that something. Noone realised thay they were going in a circle?! And no one suspected Fabricio?! Totally weird and convenient for the poor plot.
And when they are taking the eyes out of the tied up victims when arent they screaming like there is no tomorrow!
And whats all that unexplained and unexplainable weirdness with the sounds the villagers make during their torture?!
And how there were a nice little beach so close to all that havoc?!
It was just another one movie with scenes just to shock and nothing else. No conclusion either...
Black Summer (2019)
Unnecessarily confusing
Yeah i get it they want to make a more raw version of what we used to watch in the genre, with no drama and all but it turned out to be such a boring tv show with literally random scenes that dont help at all at the plot progression. Long filled with nothing episodes that serve absolutely no purpose. And those scenes that supposedly build up tension (the scenes that we see 2 actors staring at each other holding guns saying nothing) they end up being weird and totally boring.
What were with those groups fighting each other outside of the big house in the snow in season 2?! Why no one would start a normal conversation in that house?! All we saw instead were the protagonists playing cards like they didnt even care. And that skinny blond guy bullying everyone with no obvious reason. And what's with that line of his brother : "you smell so good" when he left the table?!
And why they didnt stay at the lodge when it could provide them with a permanent shelter with literally just anything they d want?! Why they chose to leave the day after, to go and find that plane?! What did they know about it?! Did they know the pilot?! How they know that he was gonna be friendly?! How did they know that there will be room for them on the plane?! Why no one talks to the others with logical sense ?! And what filler episode was that with the random white horse and the rider?!
It seemed to me that Black summer didnt know what it wanted to be like. I mean it wants to be like a fast paced raw zombie series?! It wanted to be like what the walking dead looks like these days?! With looooooong silent shootings of still landscapes?! And if the creators think that those back and forths on the timeline is something new and wow they should rethink! They are just old and confusing and they spoil their own plot twists.
Also we saw random zombie behavior, we saw zombies that lose tracks of their prey as long as they made a turn, but then again we saw zombies able to make jumps run like athletes or even have the mindset to climb obstacles.ao are they zombies or they are like mindless lifeless rabid people? Why nobody talks of a possible cure?
The I-Land (2019)
Not genuine ideas... Poorest execution ever.
Lets start from the beggining.
The idea of several random people with no memory stranded on an island is good enough on its own. We have already seen the formula in Lost. NOT GENUINE THOUGH. We have seen it in Lost.
The idea that it is more than it seems is good also. Adds to the mystery. NOT GENUINE THOUGH. We have seen it in Westworld.
The idea that this is a simulation and if u die in the simulation u die in real life is good as well. NOT GENUINE THOUGH. We have seen it in Gamer.
The acting is poor and thw dialogues doesnt make any sense. After so many weird incidents the phrase "i have a bad feeling about this" just doesnt seem logical if u think that everything thats happening to them is weird to say the least.
From the first scene the scenario seems off and poor . The 2 women, instead of being disoriented and full of questions about each other and the location they are in they began to hate each other for no reason at all.
Why the "Warden" looks like he came out of a Lucky Luke comic ? And where are his speared boots?! Lol
Why the marshalls picked up the names Bonny and Clyde? To move unnecessary suspicions?! And why they had to discuss their true identities in front of the castaways since they wanted to remain undercover?!?!
Thats too childish of a scene!!!
The fact that Chase has false memories about killing her own mother is totally irrational. She might have been framed but that doesnt mean that she has misleading memories.
All of the castaways have exaggarated sinful pasts. Why u kill ur own children and then kill urself when u can get rid off only ur husband?!
All of the protagonists pasts are unnecessarilly exaggerative. The children killing mom, the motherkiller chick, the 25 granma killer, the obsession killer guy etc etc...
Why the warden bears a sherif star?! To add more to the unmatched redneck style of his?
Instead of exploring the island ,finding shelter from the tide or the rainnor the cold they choose to just be on the beach and swim like theynare on vacation.
Instead of moving to the building they found they keep on wanting to stay on the beach.
How they keep their clothes so clean?
What do they eat?
How the long haired convict didnt die of infection and cold and blood loss when they didnt have medication yet? And how did he survive of the shark attack in the first place?
Where a mortally wounded man can find such strength to straggle another killer?!
How Chase expects to be believed by the rest of the group when she wakes up and rumbles about being a prisoner in real life and all that? I mean ok u know what happened but keep it to urself till u find some more believable proof than just NOTHING.
There are still so many questions in my mind but i think u get the drift...
Good ideas executed with the worst possible way with the weirdest dialogues
Triple Frontier (2019)
Too many good actors are wasted...
I m quite fed up seeing good actors with skills getting destroyed by poor storyline and childish plot holes.
1. This is supposed to be a highly dangerous illegal mission where they have to sneak in snatch money and bail and there is not a single silenced weapon
2. The acting in the druglord's territory was too relaxed ... You ARE NOT that cool when u steal from such a man in his house!
3. The guarding of his premices was too light regarding that the amount of money there was there was THAT huge.
4. They escaped too easily just by driving through the main road
5. The top/best mission man gets ambushed and gets one headshotedly killed by a teen that followed him quietly through the highest mountains!!!!
6. They really hadnt thought of how to escape if the amounth of money was that huge?!
7. And where that guy is going, crossing a country on foot while being shot at ?!
In general the movie had nice photography, nice ost but flat action, no heart pumping scenes , no emotions for the death of the main character... an ok movie based clearly on the names of the actors and not their acting and its plot .
